jello molds

I have looked everywhere for a jello mold. At first I wanted a Christmas shape, but now I just want ANY shape. Have been to all the local stores, Meijer, Target, etc. Doesn't any one make jello molds anymore. Have any of you seen them anywhere?

I have a round jello mold that I haven't used in forever and ever.

Last time I used it was to make tomato aspic!

The best place I've found are kitchen stores, you know, the specialty ones. You don't have time now, but Ebay is a great source, too.

Sometimes the grocery stores have them in the jello aisle, especially around holidays.

I have several, one is copper, the rest are plastic. They all work well if you spritz on that oily spray stuff first.

If you're making pound cakes and such in them, here's the recipe for "pan goop" that I use--also called Pan Release--from the allrecipes website: (You can make half a recipe and it works well, too.) 1/2 cup corn oil or canola oil or vegetable oil 1/2 cup vegetable shortening, room temperature (Crisco) 1/2 cup all-purpose flour Place all ingredients in a mixing bowl. Using an electric mixer beat until mixture has increased in volume slightly and resembles marshmallow cream. This is why it's important for the vegetable shortening to be at room temperature--it mixes easier! Place in a container with a lid. I store mine in the fridge. The mixture tends to separate slightly upon sitting so mix before using, and apply with your fingers or whatever you would normally use to grease a pan.

I feel like that sometimes. If the feeling hits to get rid of things, make the most of it! Late at night, first thing in the morning, or Christmas morning - for me, I eventually start having second thoughts about things, and that's when it's time to stop. And get rid of what I've done already :) Good job, Julie! It is nice having the teenagers sleep late sometimes. We figured by going over to SIL's house at 1:00, they'd just be getting up. As it was, they came down and were more interested in the sticky buns than the presents. We got to those a couple hours after they woke up, after reading the paper and watching some t.v. THAT'S never happened before! However, trying to actually DO anything with them on a day off, like trying to go Xmas shopping or whatever...I end up leaving them home or just not going. VERY hard to pry them out of the house! I've been wanting to go through stuff today. Since the trash goes out tomorrow, I'm thinking it's time to get started.

I went to the Jell-o site and looked for mold use info. I only found a reference to this one featured mold but the instructions are to spray lightly, one assumes with cooking spray. Here is a link that might be useful: Jell-o mold.

In my little town the shopping is limited to Walmart and the local grocery chain store for housewares. I wanted a solid bottom spring form pan before Thanksgiving and could not find one in either store. I mentioned it to my dil and she said that she found hers at WM in the cake decorating department. Huh?? I would never thought of looking there. Obviously, as I didn't find one. Anyway, you might try looking there to see if your jello molds are there too. I have several, but, have had them so long I don't remember where I bought them.

Use a bundt pan if you have one. Just spray with cooking spray. Works great.

I have one old copper mold that looks vaguely like a crown. My cousin has about six of those old Jello molds. No idea where you could buy one today,

Tupperware has one for $14.50. I had one of those years ago and it may still be out in my big plastic box of things I rarely use. I'm surprised your WM didn't have them.

Whatcha' makin'?

I haven't seen any in years either. My Mom used to
have several of the copper ones - but she never used
them for Jell-o - she hung them in her kitchen. LOL

Or maybe a Goodwill or Salvation Army thrift shop might have some.

I would look for a decorative cake pan of some kind. The challenge will be to find one small enough.

What about those silicone cake molds?

The decorative cake pan idea is a great one!
