Don't leave fb until they have left fb for you. That works for me.

I didn't realize sellers were doing this; I thought buyers were the problem. At least they are with me. When I sell an item, as soon as I receive payment I leave feedback and send the buyer a note thanking them for their purchase and telling them I've left positive feedback. I never ask them to leave feedback for me because I dislike it when sellers do that.

Lately my buyers--even the friendly ones who drop me a personal note--haven't been leaving feedback. If I'm the buyer, the sellers always come through, though.

It doesn't bother me if they don't leave feedback. At least they're not saying something bad. The number of feedbacks that have not been left have not affected my 100% positive rating.

As to your comment about beginning to check feedback before buying, you should have been doing that all along. I have passed on buying many items because of negative feedback. Too much and that's a red flag for me.

It doesn't bother me either. If I'm the buyer...I generally won't leave feedback for someone if they don't for me.

I realize I finally have 'enough' fb to look like a good buyer. But I truly did struggle to get there, with begging.

I have always checked the sellers fb rating to see if they are a good risk to send my money too. Only recently had I thought to check the fb they left for their buyers though. Only today did it dawn on me that I should use that too, to base whether or not I want to help that person make money.

Maybe I am too old fashioned.... sigh...

Somebody has to be first at leaving fb. I figure the seller may not want to leave fb, until they know they didn't have an irate buyer. I can accept that! But after I leave it, I thought more might leave it on me.

alisande, maybe its just gone by the wayside now. The whole point of fb was for us to know the risk of the transaction with that person, buyer or seller. But if no one gives fb, what good is the system.

Reviews on the net of merchandise, and feedback on sellers everywhere, helps me to decide about purchases. That is one thing I LOVE about the net!

I have over 1100 feedback (both from selling and buying)... I'd say I only have about 30 people (maybe less) who did not leave feedback for me. When I am buying I leave feedback first and when I am selling I wait for feedback before leaving mine. I never ask for feedback, I do think some people don't like it when you ask.

I think your problem is probably caused by the way eBay has changed it's format... I believe you actually have to go to "purchases" or "sold" to leave feedback. I 'think' there used to be a 'leave feedback' link on your main page. Most of my feedback is from 5 to 10 years ago... is yours more recent?

As a seller, when I send an invoice I always post a note at the bottom saying something to the effect "fb would be appreciated once you have rec'd the item to let me know that everything was in good order", but still there are many who don't leave fb. Many of the buyers who don't leave fb have thousands of fb's, so perhaps I'm just a piss-ant small time player in their scheme of things! Who knows what lurks in the minds of strangers - lol.

I have not had that problem lately. I am curious how this seller that I had to open a case because of misrep. item will respond in his feedback to me. I am not going to leave him any feedback, unless he seeks revenge through his feedback to me.

I just find the whole feed back from EVERY PLACE annoying. It is one reason I don't buy via eBay.

I have to agree with Moni on this one. I find it completely tedious to try and buy from ebay.

Why do I need to leave feedback when nothing unusual has happened? I paid, you shipped. End of transaction.

Feedback should happen when something unusual happens - I paid, you never shipped, or I paid, and you went above and beyond, and included an extra. One deserves a negative, the other a positive. Maybe I never paid - again deserves a negative.

Satisfactory service should be expected, and stroking the egos of either buyers or sellers who either pay or ship on time is just silly. Too much drama! JMO, of course, but it is why I avoid ebay.

Is it no longer true that sellers can not leave negative feedback for buyers anymore? I know that was true a little while ago and it really disgusted me, because sometimes a buyer deserves a neg. I thought it really tied the hands of the seller.

I only have about 250 feedback on Ebay and I just don't care anymore. No one hassled me when I had 3 or 10 or 100, they shouldn't care now, either. It's NICE when they leave it, but I don't spend any time worrying about it anymore.

I always do leave it when I buy or sell something, though.
