The most one of those will fill is 2.2 gallons a minute - some less that that. Divide your tub's capacity by that and you're looking at 20 minutes to fill +/- Not good. beekeeper - I have one of these and have placed more than half a dozen in projects over the past few years. What you get for your money is a machined brass body that mounts in the ceiling or wall and a plated trim piece. The body is a substantial piece of hardware and chrome,brass, nickel plating costs $$$ too. Whether that's all worth 500 + bucks, is up to you. Like davidro says, it doesn't matter what the delivery system is, this is just an opening for hot water to come out of, albeit one with a bit of engineering. GD & Spanish - the splashing is very much dependent on the mounting height of the unit AND the tub selected AND the location of the water column inside the tub. Mine hardly splashes at all. The ones I have seen that splash only do so for a minute or so until their is enough of a pool in the tub to counteract it. Flat bottom tubs with tall ceilings are going to splash more than one from 7' into a sloped contact point in the tub. Besides , we're talking water in a bathroom, generally tiled so what's the big deal ??? It's not like the amount of splash is the same as taking a shower and leaving the door open. 2. While you are correct in that "the water cools off much more than it would from just a regular tub filler", it's not as if it cools off enough for anyone without a thermometer to tell a difference, and a very sensitive one at that! Sure the air cools the water more from a stream falling from 8 feet than one falling from two feet. But bath water that is 100 + degrees is not going to cool down to 90 deg. in the xtra 1-2 seconds it takes it to fall from the ceiling- get real. Additionally , that filler produces a very dense column of water (laminar) that has little to no air in it, so one might argue it will be hotter and less prone to heat loss than a "regular" filler that introduces room temp air into it's stream - thus cooling it off on it's way to the tub. So don't worry Spanish -your tub will still be plenty hot with that filler if you choose it. IT'S A NON -ISSUE people. I've already alluded to the real issue for lower tub temps - FILL TIME. That's directly related to the delivery system ( valve). If your valve and accompanying filler will only deliver 5 gallons a minute it's going to take a while to fill an 80 gallon tub, and there will be some heat loss. Select a valve that delivers 20 gallons a minute and you can be soaking quicker that most people can undress. Here is a link that might be useful: laminar valve body - see page 2

I have a similar question to russiancup's. I need to know if my deck can support the weight of the the hot tub we just put up, but haven't filled it yet due to concern about the structure. We built our deck a year ago. It is a second story deck, 9 ft off the ground, and wraps around the house. The deck is essentially two decks attached at the corner of the house. This portion of the deck is 12' by 28'. The adjoining side is 10' x32'. We used 2"x10"x12' joisting, 16" O.C. and the joists are attached to the house using a 2x12" ledger. Then, remaining support comes from a beam which is constructed from 2-2x10's sandwiched around 4x6 posting. The posts have 8 ft spacings between them. The beam is 8 ft from the house leaving a cantilevered portion that is 42". The posts that are 8ft apart are shirred with a 3 ft wall underneath the deck to help support and minimize sway factors. In addition to this, we added 3 more 4x6 posts to the corners of the this 12' x 28' portion of the deck because we plan to build a lite weight roof over the deck. These 4x6 posts rise up 16 feet through the deck (are bolted to it) and will be tied together using 2x6 roofing joists that are A-framed for strength. In the area where we put the tub, there are the 2-4x6 corner posts, plus the beam support and posts, plus we installed an addition 4x4 post directly beneath the tub. Since a structural engineer said it would cost $500.00 to assess this (and this is out of my budget)I could really use some advice as to whether this structure is strong enough to hold a 500 gallon tub?

I looked at Permacon too but the Colors were busier and not as light (the ones in the display).. I thought lighter would look nicer. There’s the Blu smooth in Beige cream too but I wasn’t too sure if there was actually too much yellow for the cream/grey/orangy/browny colour of the house. yes was thinking of adding a sectional in the top Right corner with a table and high potted planters. i Also want to add 2 lounge chairs, and a fire pit... not sure where to put everything. the hot tub will be on the left as pictured. There will be 23 feet of interlock up to the first column (from the house). After that 4 feet from the column (as it is right now). The set up is stressing me out too. Is it okay to have more than one seating area? And to have areas that do not necessarily face each other? finally, not sure if you have an idea but I was going to do a 3 post pergola over the hot tub (with a bar facing the river) but I am thinking the post near the corner sofa will be in the way (Of people in the hot tub, on the sofa or sitting at the bar). What about a half pergola (only 2 posts on the Left, facing the left neighbo)? it would give some height, some warmth with the wood and something to hang lights to.
