Soon after returning home to Nebraska from Korea, a handsome young Dane fell head over heels in love with the waitress at a local cafe. He was smitten with her auburn hair and hazel eyes, despite the fact that she was divorced (which some people thought was downright trashy in the late 50s) and had two children from her first marriage. The young Dane proposed marriage and vowed to raise those two youngsters as his own. The waitress agreed.

Eleven months after they married, the young bride gave birth to a bouncing baby girl. The date was December 23, 1957. I'm so grateful that I was blessed with such loving parents 50 years ago today, and that they raised me in a home with few luxeries but tons of love and appreciation for family. I'm also glad they are still here and that I can be with them whenever I want to. :-)

I'm grateful for this beautiful day and all of the excitement it will bring when our company arrives this afternoon.

Ruthie and TK, good for you two!! It is wonderful when people start remarking on how good you look:) I love it! And being able to wear your smaller clothing is the best!! I say that as I sit here in a pair of capri pants that are even as I am sitting a bit large in the waist:) YUP, we can still wear capri/shorts here~~it was 97 yesterday POOHIE!!! Guess What I did last night?? I went for a walk after dinner:) And I hate walking in my area, we do not have hills but there are small inclines everywhere that really make me huff:( I loved it, wore the wrong shoes so my legs were hurting a bit, I do not know if I even went a mile LOL!! I have been wanting to walk on days I miss CURVES, if my pal is not going and I have errands to do, I will skip it to do the errands before the traffic gets too bad it is getting worse daily here with all of the new home building! Do you all have that problem?? Have a great day, I am off to work! I drink 32ozs of water while at work (only 4hours) I spend most of my time in the bathroom:)

OH....belated Happy B'day Suzanne! I've been 'off board' and will be more or less over the next couple of weeks with my job. Thanks Patti for the addresses. I will be working on my cards soon - yippeeeee! I know not everyone reads on Sunday so I will write all my news on notepad and post it all tomorrow! Keeping myself more than busy these days and starting a few new ventures. Today is rec room clear out/Peggy's craft/sewing center setup. I can't work anymore with my stuff everywhere and this house looks like a football team ran through it with piles of stuff here and there - AGAIN! AAAAauuuuggghhhhh! So getting it all in a designated zone - off the kitchen table area, away from my couch area where I sit and out of the bedroom where I throw stuff I have bought for projects...it should make a huge difference and much easier to clean up around here. Also mentally make me feel a world better. Clutter is depressing. We moved the 2 large dressers waiting for pick up from my Mom's estate to the workshop and I've emailed everyone to let them know since they have not picked them up they are moved outside into the workshop until someone comes and gets them. I also clearly noted that I am not responsible for any water/humidity damage that may occur if they are not picked up. I would not put it past a 'dear' sibling to pull this one over nothing at all given the opportunity. So that is that and the other huge couch-chair was hauled to the charity shop yesterday with another 2 huge bags of stuff. Now I just have to dismantle a dilapidated old pull out couch for the garbage but that will be another weekend. I'm happy with the space at present. So that's me. I'm off to go play in my new space - er - fold up, box up, put away the stuff in there PROPERLY and set up for my projects. Stay tuned, more news tomorrow! I'm grateful the house is filling up with family for the holidays. Today all 5 kids will be here, together since May.

Grateful for heat, today!
This time, last Sunday, it was 52 inside, and NO heat until Monday! brrrrrrrr!!

I'm grateful to have met the bouncing, baby girl that was born 50 short years ago today! Happy Birthday, Rita!

I'm also grateful for a nice hot fire in the wood stove, it's really chilly here, too.

Happy birthday, Rita!

I'm grateful I let my husband talk me into going to the flea market this morning. I didn't want to go because I was cold.

I found a neat old light fixture with a glass shade and the part that hangs down from the ceiling has roses and dog wood on it. I have an old depression era bedroom suite, so going to use the light fixture with it. A friend of mine's mother is a painter and we had already decided she would paint roses across the bed and dresser...so now will have her do roses and dog wood instead.

I'm grateful that my cold is finally getting better. I MIGHT feel like a human by Christmas day!!!

Also grateful to know and love Okwriter. Happy Birthday, girlfriend. Your parents did good!!!

I'm grateful that the weather man was wrong. We got the cold, and the wind, but no snow. So we got to go to church, then MIL's for Christmas with DW's family, then back to church for the Christmas program. In a couple of days it will be Christmas, and I'll be wishing for that snow that I didn't want.

Whenever one of my children has a birthday I am extra grateful for them, and remember to thank someone for them.

I'm greatful that as a lurker here on GW that rarely posts, I saw it is Rita's birthday. Happy Birthday, Rita! Hope you had a wonderful day and Happy Holiday's to you, your DH and your family! What a nice story!
