Merry Christmas and good morning!

Actually woke up at a decent time today. LOL! Peeled and washed potatoes for mashed potatoes and a few for breakfast. Waiting on Lauren to get home from her father's, so we haven't opened our gifts yet.

It's cold but pretty out today, lots of sunshine.

Merry Christmas and good morning to you to Kathy! So far we've had a great morning! DH and I opened our gifts and of course, we've both spoiled each other again! LOL!

DD and her family, including her DMil and DBil and girlfriend are coming this afternoon for dinner. I love them all and am looking forward to the rest of the day! Then we get to keep the Grandkids till the weekend! YAY!

My son and I went to Huddle House and ate breakfast early this morning. When we got back home it starting raining a very cold rain as it is in the 30s here. Going to a friend's house for lunch around 2 then get ready for work tomorrow. It will be crazy after 4 days off there. Merry Christmas to everyone. Thanks to everyone at the KT for letting me be a member.

We had our Christmas dinner Christmas Eve. Everyone was present and it was a good family time. With my grandson and his girlfriend's help the house was decorated. I decided to venture into crock pot cooking and the pork roast with the cranberry apricot sauce turned out great. I have a feeling the crock pot will not be hidden away any more.

I knew what I was getting but I Love it even more then a surprise! I got Nordic walking poles, and we actually got enough snow to make it look Christmassy outside! That has only happened on about 3 Christmases I remember in the Pacific Northwest! Perfect snow as it is not cold enough to freeze on the street. But I was able to go out for a walk in the blowing snow with my nordik poles and man, are they great! They take the pressure off of knees and hips and redistribute it through the upper arms. I walked about twice as far as I usually can and enjoyed every minutes of it! We have our youngest 3 kids home for Christmas. This is the first time in a year our autistic daughter has been able to come home, but she is doing well, compared with some of the past years. I think we will even be able to make it into an overnight stay so papa does not have to spend 3 hours driving her home and coming back in the dark! Little sister is so excited...she is signing on her first condo on New Years Eve day, and sorting out the things in her bedroom so that I will get it for a sewing room/guest room. Our youngest son is enjoying having the girls around but still being able to to what he likes, sleeping at the moment I think. Papa Bear is playing on his computer that we got a month ago when he needed it so he did not have to wait for it today...it is all set up and he can play with his programs. Our oldest son is spending the day with his fiance and step daughter to be, and their friends. And we will call our daughter in Maine soon. THis is about as low stress as a holiday gets around here...I like it! Today I am still enjoying and totally enchanted with Pink Surprise. What a lovely big frilly flower and ever day it just gets better! Soon the second stalk will be opening. I also have 2 Faro's and 2 Exoticas opening. And those prescious dark red varieties are shooting buds up tall, so I may have some of them by the end of the week. Most fun gift besides my Nordic poles was from my youngest daughter, who is an interior designer, bringing her color sample box and helping me choose new colors for my study. We ended up with nice desert sandstone colors called Emberglow and Peppery. Now if she just offered to paint it for me :-/...It will look terrifics with Apricot Sensation, or Faro or.....blooming!

Well, I finally put the tree up yesterday. Liz' telling us about having 13 trees up, did it. :) Today, my plan was to overhaul DH's closet, make some chocolate mousse, and then wait for daughter and hubby to arrive. BUT The weather turned to carp, and I listened to the forecast. Called and told DD about it, and she decided to come over last night. Good thing, cause if she had come when planned, the roads are all icy now. DH went to the gym like always, and then planned to go to work. We got started on the closet thing, and realized the shelves we got were to wide, and planned a quick run to Lowes. Phone rings. It's DH, he wants me to check, if he doesn't have to go to work (is just about to leave the gym). I go to the website, and lo and behold, all un essential workers are to stay home. DH is one of them. Coats come off, boots back in the closet, and quickly hang all his shirts and stuff back up, and put the shorter shelf from my closet in, and put everything in, and get out of that room. By the time he comes in, I am putting my stuff on his new shelf, luckily it fits here, BIG SMILE! Now we made the chocolate mousse, but no Ellen to watch. The local news tells us over and over how "bad the roads are", and to stay home. Big laugh on our end. I guess, I'll go and fix lunch now. Have a Merry Christmas all, and stay warm. Moni

Belated Merry Christmas to all. Especially to Triciae, who was on my mind a lot this holiday and will be during future holidays. Dear Wonder Woman, I hope you are doing well, where ever you are. Thank you for showing me what courage and strength and kindness are. We drove down to the Bay Area for the holidays. Christmas Eve we had dinner with our good friends in Berkeley, raw oysters with mignonette, cracked crab, and the traditional Buche de Noel. Last night we had dinner with other good friends in Richmond, tenderloin, mashed potatoes and a warm cauliflower-brussel sprout salad. I made half of the tenderloin, cut pieces 1" thick and tied them into rounds, pan cooked, with a sauce of reduced white balsamic vinegar, Muscat wine, shallots and garlic, butter, sauteed mushroom stems, blended smooth, then simmered over whole mushroom caps. No recipe, just made it up. Our hostess roasted the rest of the tenderloin with a red wine and shallot reduction. We were supervised by a friend who is a head chef at a large hotel and, for the first time in many years, didn't have to work on Christmas day, but was nonetheless pressed into service which he did with good humour. I've been negotiating a stressful matter at work for the past few weeks. As of Dec 24, we were uncertain whether our little business unit would be shut down and I had prepared myself to be jobless come Jan 1st. That all got resolved satisfactorily at noon on Christmas Eve, final document review pending, so for the first time in a month, I was able to relax and unclench. It was nice.

Good morning to you Kathy. I just got another 5 pound pot of B & G burgers going, and I am checking in here while they slow cook down.
I was going to make another cream cheese/dried beef/gr. onion/pecan spread, for Town House crackers. But I have 1/3 of one left from Sunday, and 1/2 of another one my sister made, so I'll just take them instead.
Going to my oldest DD's around 1:00 or 2:00 with all but my California family there.
I bought myself a game for us adults to play. Apples to Apples. My niece had gotten the same game and had it at my sisters last night, and it was fun.

Hi Kathy,
We're just hangin' out here. DD is with her in laws and our oldest son is flying to El Paso to build a house this week with Casa por Cristo. The three younger sons are here, ages 21, 19 and 14. We were playing a game but, DW is instant messaging her sister in Scotland so we're taking a break.
We have Apples to Apples and it's a lot of fun.
Catch phrase is another fun game.

Pretty quiet around here this morning. I was up until 2:00 trying to get some gifts done...downloading pics to keychains...7 of them...and of course they all had to be 'individualized'! LOL I am eating an early lunch, then going to take a nap!! We will be off to see movies later this afternoon! =) It has become our Christmas tradition, and I think we all look forward to it!

We are not having our Christmas 'Day' until Saturday. Then we will have Caryn, Kalie & Mike and Travis & Jessica here....LOVE when they are all together!!! =)color>

Merry Christmas Kathy. The sun is shining here. I don't think I have seen the sun for a few days. DS is installing the under-the-cabinet CD player he gave me for Christmas. After that we will take my bed apart and replace it with the new frame and headboard which will give me more room in my tiny bedroom. Then we are going swimming at a hotel with an indoor pool. After that we may catch a movie.

Merry Christmas Kath, and everyone else. We had a great day. We had ten people for dinner, so DH brought in another table from the garage, and we threw tablecloths over it. In other years, we did it like a buffet, and ate on our laps, but even though the second table stuck out into the living room, it was much better this way. All in all, it was a great day.
