For breakfast this morning I had two of my homemade tamales and a bowl of beans..I just smooshed the beans and chopped up the tamales. Have I ever mentioned that I love beans. Do you have to do traditional breakfasts as in bacon and eggs or can you eat just about anything...I love just eating leftovers...I'm not much of an egg kinda person...

I love eggs, and never eat any kind of beans! Early this morning I drank some Ensure, so I'm just now thinking about breakfast. I might have biscuits, jelly and sausage. I usually like traditional breakfasts, as I love so many breakfast foods.

I rarely eat traditional breakfasts. I do eat breakfast foods, just not at breakfast time. My breakfast this morning was Turkey Salisbury steak on top of quinoa cooked in chicken broth. (I love beans also....often have them as a midnight snack.)

I eat a breakfast-type breakfast every morning, and have all my life. Other than cold leftover pizza in college, that is. For the majority of my life though, there is no way I could or would eat leftovers from the night before, etc. My DH is a family practice doc and he’s very into healthful eating. I agree, having been in the healthcare field myself for many years, but I absolutely refuse to eat food that’s “good for me” but tastes boring or ugh! Thank goodness we both love to cook and experiment with recipes, as I can honestly say that we eat delicious breakfasts every day of the week.

FWIW, I got this from a caterer long ago. Master Recipe for a Strata (AKA Tahoe Brunch or Savory Bread Pudding) You can invent any combination of ingredients for the filling, according to your taste, or according to what leftovers you have in the refrigerator (or choose from the ones listed below). Make it simple or complex, homey or elegant. The best part is that the whole thing can be assembled the day before, and refrigerated until you're eady to bake it. This makes a 2 quart casserole or a 9X13 baking dish or 8 individual (8-ounce) baking dishes The Bread: 9 ounces, or 12 thick slices (about 3/4-inch thick) Crust may be on or trimmed off - as you prefer Any interesting bread will do: egg, sourdough, olive, wheat, etc. Bread should be slightly stale OR may be sliced and baked at 300 degrees until lightly browned - about 15 minutes to oven-dry The Custard: 3 cups milk (or cream, sour cream or creme fraiche - or combination) 6 whole eggs OR 3 whole eggs and 6 egg yolks Salt, pepper Fresh or dried herbs Pinch, nutmeg (if cheese is used in filling) 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard - if desired OPTIONAL: an additional 1/4-1/2 cup, liquid such as wine or flavorful broth, whichever compliments the recipe The Filling: Choose any combination of the following (or other) filling ingredients: Onions - up to 2 cups, thin sliced or chopped - sauteed until soft Garlic - up to 4 cloves, sauteed with onions (or may be roasted) Mushrooms - up to 1 1/2 pounds, sliced and sauteed Cheese - up to 1 pound, grated - may be mixture of more than one kind Bacon - up to 8 slices, cooked and crumbled Ham or cooked sausage - up to 1 1/2 pounds, sliced or chopped OR corned beef, pastrami, cooked seafood, cooked poultry or meat The Method: Generously butter a 2-quart ovenproof casserole, or a 9X13 baking dish, or 8 individual oven-proof dishes. Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. Slice the bread into thick (about 3/4") slices. (If oven drying, place slices on a cookie sheet, in a 300 degree oven until lightly browned, as directed above, and allow to cool.) Butter the bread slices on one side, and cut each into 4 quarters. Arrange half the bread in the bottom of the baking dish. Sprinkle one half of the filling ingredients of your choice over the bread. Arrange the remaining bread over the first half of the filling ingredients, then top with the remaining filling ingredients. (Note: If you are using cheese, end the layering with a cheese layer, for attractive presentation.) Whisk the custard ingredients together in a mixing bowl, and pour custard mixture over the bread and filling layers in the baking dish. Allow to stand for at least 30 minutes to allow custard to soak into the bread. NOTE: Mixture may be baked immediately (after 30 minutes standing), or may be refrigerated for several hours or overnight before baking. Bake at 325 degrees for 40 to 50 minutes (10 minutes less for individual baking dishes) or until puffed and golden (a knife, inserted near the center of the casserole should come out clean). Allow the finished strata to stand for 15-20 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley. Serve hot - or at room temperature.

Do you intend to keep those mirrors on either side of the window? If so, then a round or circular light with texture makes more sense. But, if you remove the mirrors, the space will be more cohesive with a clean look, like the vibe of your living room, in which case I would do a linear light. I don't like for your space the linear light you selected, however.

I went healthy about breakfast quite a few years ago. I eat a home made muesli mix, with skim milk on it.

But I also like several left overs... except I usually keep them for lunch. ;)

Ruthie, MaryAnn and all, I forgot to post the wear red post... to busy on Christmas... I guess.

I usually don't eat breakfast. But I just had a yogurt, and 2 pieces of toast.
I'd have loved to have some tamales. I'm going to have DD show me this place she said had them.

Sounds ok to me, Ruthie; heck, sometimes, I am hungry for fish in the morning.

This morning, I had the pleasure of cooking a big ol' breakfast for my DS and his two beautiful girls who are here for a visit. We had eggs, hash browns, biscuits, and sausage gravy. YUM!

Glad you've got an appetite, Ruthie; enjoy whatever your tastebuds are ready for, right? :)

Had my fill of yummy peanut butter on whole grain bread topped with a slice of bacon, for 7 days..

Now I'm back on land, I'm satisfied for now :o)

I don't like most breakfast foods, especially pancakes and waffles. Not an egg eater either, so breakfast is difficult. I'm happy to eat non-breakfast foods for breakfast.

I usually eat toast, maybe sausage, but I love the idea of peanut butter and bacon on toast. I eat quesadillas sometimes.

Life is too short to have rules about what to eat and when to eat it. I love to have breakfast stuff any time of day and if I have left over pizza for breakfast- oh well! I don't eat a lot of beans tho.. at least not before I go to work!

I have oatmeal almost every morning for breakfast. I usually eat breakfast things....but I DO enjoy breakfast at supper time too! LOL Some nights we have pancakes and bacon or omlets.

I had bean soup and half a peanut butter sandwich after my walk. LOL. The soup was made with the Christmas ham bone. Yum. I don't do breakfast much, unless I go out or are traveling. I like breakfast food though. I can eat any kind of food at any meal.

I never eat breakfast on weekdays, just coffee till lunch. I love eating a big, late breakfast on weekends. My favorite is fried eggs, hashbrowns, wheat toast, and veggie sausage. I love biscuits and gravy too, but it's hard to find vegetarian biscuits and gravy and I rarely make it myself.

We were downstate at my DH's sisters house with 2 DSIL's and 2 dear nieces, one of my DS's and my DDIL. DH made us Belguim blueberry waffles with his home made keilbasa. Very yummy.
But, glad to be home now. On the way home we stopped for Chinese buffet, I'm not hungry now!

I'm not much of a breakfast person, but I almost always have 1 slice of Ezekial bread with a little butter or jam on it. Some days I have 2 slices, but at about $6.00 a loaf.. I try to keep it at 1 slice a day. lol

I have no problem eating leftover pizza or whatever for breakfast though... the tamales sound good.

I love leftovers for breakfast. My favorite is leftover spaghetti....Ruthie,the tamales sound scrumptious. We just got back from dinner(its my birthday so we splurged by going out for dinner). Had Yankee Pot Roast with carrots and tiny red potatoes and for dessert, Blackberry cobbler, piping hot and delicious...yum, yum!!!!!

I do not eat traditional breakfast; sometimes I don't eat at all til about 11am or so, but I do always drink a glass of orange juice.

I think all those years of working mid night shift conditioned my mind to eat almost anything at any meal.

I guess I am a pretty traditional breakfast eater...cereal or eggs and toast....I LOVE toasted bagels and cream cheese but I don't do that very often.

Dean usually has a full fledge meal for breakfast. Meat, potatoes/pasta, veggie. But then he doesn't eat too much for lunch.
