Personally I don't know if this is a good camera, bad camera or mediocre camera ... but the price sounds good!

I've bought several things from WOOT and the only problem I had was with the first item I ordered, a Roomba.

They shipped it FedX, signature required. I didn't know that that was how they were going to send it. I had just started a new job so I couldn't stay home and wait for it. After three tries to deliver I got a note saying it could be picked up at their main facility which was 40 miles away. There was no way for me to get there during work hours.

I tried and tried to get them to transfer it to the facility next to my office, no. I tried to get them to deliver without a signature, no. I tried to get them to deliver to a neighbor, no. I asked them to deliver to my office, they said YES ... but they never did.

Somewhere along the line I called WOOT and asked them to deal with FedX and they tried, but still, FedX wasn't budging.

Over a week went by and finally I had hassled FedX so much the people who answered phones knew me by name. When they messed up and forgot to send it to my office, I called and really raised the roof. The regional manager delivered my Rooba to my home at 8pm on a Friday night!

WOOT wasn't really to blame here but just make sure if you order from them to ask about their shipping.

Why do you want more pixels in a digital camera?

The download is taking longer because you're moving three times the amount of data you were with your old camera. s For most folks, more pixels translates into the ability to enlarge a picture with more detail or to crop and enlarge a picture and retain detail. On a 4" x 6" print, the number of pixels is almost immaterial; an 8 MP camera will not give you a better picture than a 2 MP camera based on pixels alone. This is why people don't flock to those $99 no-name 5 MP cameras out there: a good 2 MP will beat a lousy 5 MP. Thing is, there are many other things going on in the camera which can affect picture quality more than pixels -- like how the picture is manipulated within the camera to create what the camera thinks is the best image, or whether you export the picture in a format like RAW (bigger, but better) or as a JPEG (small, but not as high-quality). Almost all of these are set to default values in your camera and can be set to a different value if you want.

Jackie, I borrowed a digital camera from the high school where I work. I wanted to try it out before purchasing one. My husband and I loved it so much that he gave me one for Christmas. He bought a Sony that requires a floppy disc. I love the convenience of popping in a floppy and viewing the pictures right away. As far as the quality, if you use the finest quality setting on the camera, a really good printer and photo quality paper, you will be very happy. I started out printing on regular copy paper, just until I got the hang of cropping and printing. Now I use only HP photo paper. The difference is very dramatic. The ink soaks into the copy paper but sits on top of the photo paper making for deeper, richer colors. My camera has settings for black and white as well as antiqued pictures. I love it and wouldn't use any other kind of camera. My husband is an amatuer photographer and still uses his 35mm, but is really impressed with our digital.

Luvs, thanks for the laugh this morning. I sure needed it. You're a funny girl. I think you shouldn't have deleted it, but gave us a sneek preview of it. We wouldn't have been laughing at you (much), but with you. ha My child did not go to sleep until 1:30 this morning!! Ugh I'm so dragging booty today. It's raining here anyway, so I guess I'll just do some cleaning and laundry. My favorite things in life! NOT! My house has gone downhill from me being sick. And starting tomorrow I have to help my 6th grader build a castle from a cardboard box. Sure wish I had kennebunker living next door! ha Guess my painting will be put on the side for a few days.
