Leslie - It was so funny because I turned around and there he sat all alone at that table just going after it. I don't know who dipped it for him, and typically, he wants to be either in Poppy's lap or his mama's. We all love banana pudding - I guess he's going to carry on the tradition.

Nicole, No, this was on Galveston Island just a few weeks ago when we were there for Christmas. In places there were 100's of them washed up. Sue kept warning us to be careful, apparently the stingers can still be extremely painful even after they have died. Beautiful photo, Casey! Ron

A double today from New Mexico. There is this fantastic canyon called simply the Lower Box. It's where the Gila River cuts through the mesa just before entering Arizona. It's an extremely remote area and was one of our favorite places to go when we lived there. We rarely saw anyone else there.The first picture is looking downstream. The second is from the same vantage point looking upstream. From this point down to the river is 600 to 700 feet. The trees in the bottom od the canyon are huge sycamores and cottonwoods. When there was absolutely zero chance of precipitation (So no danger of flooding) we'd carry our gear down to the canyon floor (no vehicle access) and camp on the sand bars. In the evening we'd sit quietly and watch bats feeding on insects hovering above the water and fall asleep to the coyotes howling up in the hills. In summer we'd carry inner tubes down and drift down the river then get out and walk back upstream so we could do it over again. Ron

LOL At that Cardinal! Beautiful kitty!!!

Kalie is off of work this morning because of the ice, so she is wrapping gifts. She just sent this and said that she has had GREAT helpers! These 2 can't wait until she gets them wrapped to check them out, and the other one lays on the paper while she is trying to wrap! CATS...gotta love 'em! LOL

Thank you. one of my favorite past times in New Mexico was wandering around remote areas just seeing what there was to see. I sure miss those days, especially when it's 10 degrees and there's a foot of snow on the ground here. I'll see what else I can dig up.

Hi Ron, Montezuma's Castle is between Phoenix and Sedona on I17. Here is a link to it. I have been there several times and it is beautiful. This is not a cliff dwelling that you can go into you stand at the bottom and look up at it. I really enjoy Mesa Verde Ruins in Colorado since you can actually walk down into them.

Montezuma's Castle is in central Arizona - not built by Montezuma, and not a castle, though. I love the southwest - DH and I have family there - love the Arizona trips!

Thank you for the links to Montezumas castle, nita and scraphappy. I'll have to get there someday. There are some very extensive indian ruins in old Mexico, also that we visited when we lived down that way.

Ron - where did you live in NM? My mother is from Fort Sumner and we spent our summer vacations visiting relatives in Santa Fe, Clovis and Taiban (which isn't there any longer). We used to explore Stinking Springs (where Pat Garret captured Billy the Kid) and the Indian reservations around Taos, and took trips to Carlsbad Caverns, the Sangre de Cristo mountains and generally had a great time just playing in irrigation ditches and trying to catch 'horny' toads. Haven't been back since I was 17 but would love to return someday.

Love all the photos today. The kitty cat pictures bring back memories of when I had my two. The were both always so helpful.

mcmann, I spent 16 years in Silver City. It's down in the southwestern corner of the state an hour north of I-10. Pretty much the end of the world, which I thought was perfect.
