My creative cousin sent me a Christmas box....

....filled with wrapped gifts, ornaments, pinecones, and greenery. It even smells like Christmas!

This is my cousin Barbara, the wonderful knitter who made cashmere sweaters for my newborn grandson last year, and cashmere and alpaca bed socks for me.

No doubt it does smell lke Christmas! I opened the thread, and whoosh! pine smell. Yum! What a great idea, how do do people come up with stuff like that? Great cousin you have there. Totally cool.

Thank you for your ideas. I went to Shutterfly and played around with gift ideas. I decided to make a photo book ellendi. I am really excited about it. I am going with traditional, classic, simple and a black background on the pages so the letter really stands out. I will have their "saying" a song title on the front, then their engagement photo (my mom said it was from a photo booth? - they had no money but it is surprisingly good for 1947). I will put a page of the letter on each page with a copy of the envelope and another photo at the end. Our love for them is what keeps us connected in any way at all and I am excited to honor their love in this way. :)

Thank you, everyone, and Yayagal, it's nice of you to put it that way. Barbara and I are one month apart in age and have always had a good relationship even though we've almost always lived in different states. Our contact got more frequent after we were both widowed--and more frequent still after we got phone plans that allowed some free calling! It even survived the Presidential election, about which we heartily disagreed. Trish, I have one stinky boy cousin. He doesn't paint; nor does he knit. I never hear from him. :-)

Merry Christmas!!!! I got a wonderful package in the mail today from Patti! I was so excited to see that it came all the way across the country from Washington!! AND....she has been to Morehead, KY! Thank you, Patti! Thank you for all my goodies: the beautiful Holiday Tablerunner, Christmas Season FQ, stained glass electric votive, Bath & Body Works Sun-Ripened Raspberry Hand Soap, Gardenia Breeze Hand Therapy, and wonderful Christmas card! Thank you so much! I will post pics asap. I can't wait to show my husband my treats! He is totally intrigued by this whole adventure. I am going to look up your home town on the map, and see how close it is to where my daughter and son-in-law are going next week. They are going for a conference for the third year in a row. Sometimes they bring me back rocks from the seashore. I put them in my little fountain on the screened in porch. My Christmas goodies are extra special because you have been to Morehead, and they came from a very special person in a very special place! Thank you, again. Meima

She posted this note for her friend, asking for advice on how to give clues to the dog, not whether or not it was a good idea to even get the dog. How does anyone here know that it hasn't been discussed, the logistics haven't been worked out, etc? We don't. While I'm sure everyone means well advising her not to give the pet, nobody knows the circumstances and it's really not anyones place to offer unsolicited advice when she specifically asked for something totally different. Sorry if I sound harsh, it just sounds like she's being scolded for something totally unrelated to her original question. With that said, I think little clues as to where a dog might go or sleep is cute. Send her on a little scavenger hunt. My husband did that to me one year and it was fun.

Ha! Some people think of me as creative, and just when I start to believe it might be true, Barbara comes along and does something that blows my delusions out of the water. LOL

Our mothers were very creative (mine an artist, both of them super sewers), and that supposedly came from their mother, who died before Barbara and I were born.

Barbara is definitely a blessing in my life. We don't see each other often, but we talk and email. We were born a month apart, and call each other "Sis." We'd be twins (but not identical) if she hadn't been born a month early!

My gifts to her went out in today's mail....just two wrapped presents in a boring box. But at least one of them was handmade. :-)
