April, that's how I got my Roomba. Someone posted here just as you did, advising that Woot had a Roomba on. I'd never heard of Woot, but followed the link, read a bit about Woot, liked the idea, and bought the Roomba! That was a year or so ago. You made no mistake! I like getting a heads up if someone knows something's going on that I don't I now check Woot almost every day. Suzieque

I always check it each night at midnight if I am still awake to see the new deal of the day and noticed last night it was under maintenance.

schoolhouse - Roomba does his thing around furniture or under it it it's raised high enough....think dust bunnies under the bedframe...oh yeah. Around the living room couch, he'll run a line along the couch and hugs it; still some attention is necessary just under the couch where the Roomba doesn't quite reach with his rotating arm. A Roomba (for me at least) isn't a complete replacement of a regular vac., but it keeps the "core" of the room clean and because it's clean, the edges seem to need less of attention too. Some areas that get missed - 90 degree corners don't get Roomba love. Chairs that have too narrow of a base, but ours can usually get in between the legs. Fringe on throw rugs can be a challenge, so those you would need to take up, but ones without fringe are usually not a problem. Our hearth isn't raised for the fireplace and has only a small strip between the hardwood and the slate and I don't really like him getting into the fireplace, so I'll usually set the little "rope off" area that comes with him to keep him from venturing over there and then just supervise him for a few places where I know he tends to get in trouble. Oh, and one of my Roomba's favorite tricks of all is to hide from me right in the middle under the king sized bed (if his battery dies before he's all done)

I absolutely love mine. I'm an RE assistant so I'm on the computer constantly unless I'm doing something for the kids or trying to cook a meal, etc. Having things like vacuuming, or washing the floor, weighing heavily on me while I worked stunk. I can't even tell you how nice it is to have the room where the cats hang out, and have their food & litter, be vacuumed for me while I work. The one I have is programmable so it can start without me having to do so. When it is done it returns to its docking station and charges itself up for the next go. The other rooms don't get as dirty as quickly (no litter), so when I need'm to work in one of them for me, I give him a lift, plop'm down, he goes to work, and I go back to work. I had ordered the Scooba first because we have so much tile, and the floor scrubbing was much harder on my back than vacuuming (although vacuuming is a close second!) and we were so pleased with it, we went for the Roomba. No complaints here. I will say, I don't think it could've handled the heavy duty vacuuming a few days of my cats furry tumble weeds require. So DBF gave the room a good going over with our Dyson first, and now the Roomba does the daily maintenance. Any furniture I purchase from here on out will be done with my little helpers in mind. I'd love it if they could just zoom right under the couches like they do tables/desks/beds etc.
