Welcome to the 21st Century! Some thoughts on everyone's comments... 1. Real Names? That is just silly...usernames have to be unique...as soon as the 2nd John or Mary tried to use those as usernames there was a problem. And if they did allow it...there would be endless "Which John are you?" or "Which Mary said that?" 2. Creepy factor...yes at first it may be creepy to be able to Google yourself...but just how many people ACTUALLY GOOGLE YOU? Probably just you. 3. Protect yourself in all things techy AND NOT TECHY TOO... identity theft happens more when somebody goes through your trashcan than from the Internet. Or from people clicking on SPAM emails telling them about discount Viagra, their lottery winnings in Liberia, and how much girls in some third world country want to "meet you". FLorida actually has a site that will help you learn more about protecting yourself online: http://www.safeflorida.net/safesurf 4. Photos - be careful. Make sure there are no identifiers about where you live...house numbers, car license plates, etc. And no pics of minor children unless site is secure. And monitor your children too. 5 A. It's called Web 2.0 and YOU WERE TIME MAGAZINE; Person of the Year for 2006 ( http://www.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,20061225,00.html) This wonderful year allows ALL OF US to participate and share our learning and opinions with the world. The world gets smaller every day because of it. 5 B. I graduated HS in 1981 and yesterday, my HS Principal became one of my FaceBook friends...what a wonderful world where that can happen...that I can tell him and others how they influenced the person I have become. As with anything...be safe AND enjoy! Tam the Nerd Here is a link that might be useful: SafeFlorida.Net

I've had Windows Vista (ugh) on my computer for a long time reading this site and many others. I had AVG free antivirus installed on it, and never a problem with this site. Then about a month ago I upgraded to Windows 8.1 on this laptop, and it comes with its own antivirus that is pretty good, so I did not install anything on top. Still no signs of virus or malware messages of any kind. I think the Office Depot person was BS'ing you. They either wanted to sell you McAfee antivirus, or they wanted to get you off their backs fast, or they simply did not know what they were talking about. If you are on Windows 8.1, you do not need additional antivirus at all, and if your Windows is a lower version that does not come with an antivirus, there are absolutely free ones out there that are really good. AVG is one of them that was perfectly fine for me fore a long while. (They try to sell you a paid version when you install, but the free version is the one I am talking about.) I heard McAfee slows down your computer more than others. Based on that, I would not want it even if it came free. There is also this. You said GardenWeb was the first thing you did. Any antivirus, when freshly installed, goes to its servers to update its database of viruses and checks for a new version of itself. That takes some time, and meanwhile if it updates itself, it might turn itself off temporarily, and Windows will immediately tell you that your antivirus is off, and urge you to look into that. Is it possible you got that message while (by chance!) being on this site? In any case, I would not shy away from GW. Oh, and I wholeehartedly second the suggestion to install another browser and not use Internet Explorer. Firefox is very good; I use Google Chrome which is also amazing. Popup blocking is a must, and I also installed AdBlock (available for Chrome AND Firefox) which blocks most ads on most websites. This suggestion is not about viruses, actually, but it is about browsing speed and productivity and convenience.

This would be extremely easy to do. If you know WordPress you could get it all done in about two working days. If not, there will be a learning curve but it won't be too terribly painful. Will cost a few hundred dollars to DIY. You need to choose your host. HostGator is a good option since you won't have tons of traffic or big, beefy content files. There are others, so check out your options carefully. I've been thru a few WordPress themes and the best one I've found, that offers the most options for revisions to keep overall design fresh is from Envato/Themeforest it's called The7. http://goo.gl/Z1E8Uk To control privacy of members and access to content you have two options, you can go LMS or MMS. LMS is Learning Management System plugin. It's what elearning sites use. MMS is Membership Management System plugin. It's what many coaching type sites use. LMS plugin would be like LearnDash. MMS plugin would be like WishList. All you do is install your plugin of choice, create your posts with content and images just like they're regular WordPress posts (or pages) and then use your LMS or MMS to identify the members that can have access to the content. The super simpler way to do this would be to just install WordPress and password protect each and every post. I'd use one password for all. Give the passwords to patients and call it done. The problem with that, however, is you won't have any control beyond that. You won't have a list. You won't know what accessed what, etc. And as you get more experienced with WordPress and plugins, you won't be able to go back and capture membership information - that train will have already left the station, so to speak. Plus, you're going to have to deal with people losing the password. A LMS or MMS system allows a member to reset passwords on their own. So, you're better off, IMO, going with some kind of membership route right from the beginning so you at least have the option of doing things with the email list it builds for you. Like, sending a blast of information to the whole group of patients is probably the most basic thing you would want to do. The best strategy is to build it for growth down the road even if you think it will always be small. If you hire someone to build a site for you, my guess is it will cost anywhere from $1,500 to $3,000. One of the most important things to establish FIRST is how you want your permalinks formatted. It's easy to do from the WP dashboard. Settings>Permalinks and then choose a radial button. You want short permalinks: Like This: http://doctordiet.com/sample-post/ Not This: http://doctordiet.com/2014/09/21/sample-post/ Hope that helps.

@ Cavimum You should always take those "test results" with a grain of salt. Isn't it funny how the tests always favor the detergent manufacturer who is promoting the results? Look at the Charlie's Soap web site. There you can find a chart showing how cleanly rinsing Charlie's Soap is, and how horrible Tide and other products are because items washed in those products weighed up to 4% more after washing and drying compared to those items washed in Charlie's Soap. The assumption CS is making is that the additional weight must be undesirable "build-up" or nasty fillers that don't rinse away. They are trying to scare you. But I think equating an increase in dry laundry weight to harmful build-up is wrong. Look at Tide Total Care. It is supposed to leave behind protective agents on your clothes to soften them and lubricate the fibers for a "like new" feel. Is that bad? The funnies part in all of this is that CS claims its product rinses as clean as plain water... and guess what? It's as effective as washing in plain water as well. Charlie's Soap's statements are absurd if you think about it. My washer takes 8 kg of dry laundry, but usually I end up washing about 6 kg (3/4 full). According to CS, if I were to wash that 6 kg load in Tide then the dry weight should increase by 4%. That means the laundry weight would have to increase by 1/2 lb. Funny... the amount of detergent used to wash that load only weighs 75 g (filled to line 3 of Tide HE w/ bleach liquid), or 0.16 lbs. What CS is claiming in its "study" is impossible, unless somehow the quantity of my detergent is increasing itself by a factor of three inside the machine and none of it is rinsing off. Divine intervention is required in order to make the CS claims true. I have started to eschew most natural detergents of late. After switching back to Tide HE and Persil, it's quite obvious that the natural products are pretty ineffective. I was hopeful that my whole house water softener would make these natural products as effective as their mainstream grocery store counterparts, but sadly that is not the case. Whites turn grey over time, stains are faded but not removed, and prevention of color transfer in mixed loads is not handled as well. My colored laundry is vivid again and my whites are truly white. There is nothing I hate more than washing a load for an hour or more and still seeing stains that were not removed. While we may sleep better at night for using natural laundry detergent, we may be doing so in dirty sheets.
