I like most diet soda.(except as fountain drinks) But you are right about ginger ale. No one has come out with a good one. I tried the Canada Dry and couldn't drink it. Sent the rest to work with my DH to leave out for whoever wanted it.

For me, its Diet Mountain Dew; 2nd place is Diet 7 Up. I buy the non-caffeine when I can get it.

I'm a diet dr pepper whenever I drink soda. But give me ice and water, and I'm happy

i don't mind the taste of diet drinks. but they always give me a strange metallic aftertasete hours later. Guess it's the chemicals metabolising in my body. So I try to stay away. I prefer a nice cup of coffee.

I am an iced tea drinker myself so I seldom drink any soft drinks. Do keep it on hand. Only use ginger ale in punch.

Not a diet gingerale, but our "go to" gingerale is the Canada Dry Cranberry in cans. Yummm! For some reason the 2L bottles are just not so great. For those so inclined, add alcohol of your own choice, a slice/squish of fresh lime, and no one will care if it's blechy wet snowing ;)

I don't drink diet ginger ale often, but when I do, it's Vernor's. I can't stand Canada Dry.

7up helps with my indigestion but I don't need the calories, so have been looking for a carbonated water product and I can't find any without sweeteners of some kind. I bought some sparkling water with black cherry flavor 0 sugar, bought one bottle to try. I should have read the ingredients, artificial sweeteners, it is so sweet I can't stand it.

Anyone have any suggestions.

I gave up diet drinks because they cause belly fat. Now I drink iced tea or Crystal Lite. My clothes fit looser now.

I really dislike most diet drinks but you are right, the ginger ale is the worst. I wonder why that is the case, maybe there isn't enough of a market like there is for other flavors?

Vala, if you can find LaCroix sparkling waters in your area, they are unsweetened, just lightly flavored. Our Target carries it and occasionally WalMart has it. Some grocery stores, too. It's canned and the citrus flavors are the best, IMO. I don't like the berry or coconut ones at all, but the orange, grapefruit, lime and lemon flavors are just great. Even the plain is nice.

Walmart also has their own store brand, but it's all fruity/berry flavors at my store, so I haven't tried them.

I had never tried the diet ginger ale. When at Ruthie G's house a couple of weeks ago she offered us something to drink. I opted for the diet ginger ale and liked it.

I've had the Hansen's diet ginger ale before. It uses Splenda. I liked it - has some vanilla, real ginger and lime. I suppose if you're going to drink soda it's one of the healthier ones. :) I see it at Trader Joe's and sometimes the grocery stores.

I rarely drink ginger ale but keep it on hand for those(GD0 who get upset tummys sometime.I like the flavored waters both carbonated and not.Just don't like the ones with aspartame,and those at wal mart have aspartame.So i normally get Ralphs(kroger,) brand,or albertsons brands.

On the rare occassion i drink sodas,it has to be diet mountain dew or pepsi.(both have aspartame) so i don't drink it a lot.

I love diet Pepsi though, and it doesn't affect my weight or belly fat. (even if it did, I'd still drink it) :)

Isn't Crystal Lite a diet drink? I do love it - I like either the lemonade or pink lemonade the best.

Flamingo, I will check that out. When I was traveling in Africa and asked for bottled water they always asked "sans gas?". That is what made me believe I could buy carbonated water.

Suzie-- fyi, the "regular" Crystal Light contains aspartame; the Crystal Light Pure has a little bit of cane sugar and the rest of the sweetener is Truvia. I don't know what the antioxidant Crystal Light varieties' sweetener is made of.

Since aspartame gives me a headache, I switched over to the Crystal Light Pure when I want to keep dry mix in the house. I like it much better than the regular Crystal Light. You might want to try that out to see if there's any difference for you.

"Diet" --at least for the Pure -- doesn't mean 0 calories, tho.

I'm also going to have to check out the flavored waters again. Maybe by now I will come across brands that don't have Aspartame.

We drink Vernors diet, when we're in the mood for ginger ale. We both like it. I never did care for Canada Dry.

Right now I have a cold and heat up Vernor's in the microwave. Much better than tea! And it makes your throat feel good.

It has to be VERNORS! It is real and it is good. If you are in an area of the country that carries it, you are very lucky. I am now on the East Coast so the only way I can get it is when my cousin brings it from Ohio. One drink and you know you are drinking REAL ginger ale.

Well, I did a taste-test between the diet Hansons and the diet Vernors.

I had tried the regular Vernors before, but not the diet.

The diet Hansons, I thought, was a little too sweet, not really gingery to me.
The diet Vernors, well -- that taste packs a punch! That and the non-diet are really more like nonalcoholic "ginger beers," a co-worker told me.

I guess I really have to shake the tastebud-memory of Canada Dry!

I also bought WalMart's bottled sparkling water w/flavoring-- "Clear American" in the berry flavor, which I guess is what Flamingo referred to? Love that! Also the tangerine-lime.

Then yesterday I bought the Polar Springs variety and Wegmans house brand of the same type of flavored sparkling water. Hated those-- not enough flavoring.

Those all contain aspertame, but surprisingly I did not get a headache that I've traditionally gotten when I drink stuff with aspertame.

I also drink tap water with lime (True Lime packaged crystallized lime; in the grocery, sometimes it's with the Crystal Light and other powdered drinks, sometimes with baking ingredients; there's lemon and orange, too). But the Walmart water might be my new alternative drink.

If it's an 'aspertame-everywhere' world, that's the best-tasting alternative to me.

Diet Sierra Mist Cranberry Splash is the only soda I drink.

Pammyfay, the one you got is what my husband likes to drink, it's artificially sweetened. He calls it a water, I say it's a soda. Yes, Clear American.

The drink I like is canned and has no sweeteners at all. I can't find this exact one anymore, but the one shown in the link below is what I used to buy at WalMart. So Clear, it was called. Then they started carrying La Croix, which I love, same thing, essentially. Now WalMart has a new package and new flavors, which I have not tried because I don't want a fruity/berry flavor. I only want a citrus. They all come in cans and are merely flavored sparkling waters with no sweetness at all.

That Clear America one at wal mart is the one i really like as well Except for the aspartame.I still buy a couple bottles occassionely,and my favotite is kiwi-strawberry or peach.Mostly now i just stop at Ralphs and get their brand as it has no aspartame.There's a non carbonated flavored water at Safeway called Fruit Motions,that one is good as well.

I used to drink a lot of propel hen they changed the flavor and now call it propel zero,but they took away the taste.So i guess the zero stands for "no taste".

I don't have many options for diet ginger ale but I've always liked ginger ale and when I wanted to avoid sugar, I'd buy diet and I was fine with it. I'm not all that fussy when it comes to soft drinks. I did like the flavored carbonated waters but there to FAS set in and it has to have sugar and sweeteners in it. Good grief can't these people even drink WATER without sugar and salt in it???

Crystal lite has such a metallic taste that I can't drink it very often. I'll take Kool Aid over it. I do drink a lot of the green tea from Aldi which is fine for the price though I don't really need the extra stuff in there. I prefer things less sweetened than the FAS folks require these days. Trying to find unsweetened tea is difficult. I like a lot of lemon (preferably lime if there were a choice) but keep the sweeteners out of there.

I usually choose what they call "diet" soft drinks when I have to drink them, and if given a choice. I used to prefer Bubble-Up to 7Up but don't see it anymore. I like Diet Dr. Pepper, Diet Root Beer, well for the most part any diet drink is drinkable to me though still over-sweetened in my book. Occasionally I do savor a "real" root beer or cream soda. Not too often though. Water is still a beverage of choice around here. Spring water when I have the choice.

Oh and once in a great while, even Tang! It's what the astronauts used to drink... :)
