I'm reading "The Paris Wife," by Paula McLain, a novel about Hadley Richardson's, Ernest Hemingway's first wife. It's interesting, but not really engrossing.

I just finished "The Red Garden" by Alice Hoffman. It's about life in a single Massachusetts town over its entire history of more than 300 years. I didn't love it, but I did love the idea of watching actual events (a young girl drowns in a river) become legend 100 years later (the ghost of the girl was said to haunt the riverside), and then, even later, the legend became so well-known that schoolgirls would play the part of "the apparition" during a local festival.

Fern Michaels' Sisterhood Series. It's about women vigilantes. Very good read, guys would not like it at all. LOL

Joann, our book group is reading "The Paris Wife" for our January group. It doesn't sound very interesting to me, either, but I'll read it for the group.

I have read the following:
Shogun by James Clavell.....1200+ pages but I loved it. 15th century Japanese history.

Gone by Lisa Gardner....loved it.

Ill Wind by Nevada Barr....a murder mystery set in Mesa Verde National Park, Colorado.

Never Look Away by Linwood Barclay....a murder mystery....not bad but not my favorite author.

90 Minutes in Heaven by Don Piper......non-fiction about a minister in Texas who was in a horrible accident and was pronounced dead but was revived 90 minutes later. Inspirational.

Nightwoods by Charles Frazier.....same author who wrote Cold Mountain. Interesting story which takes place in the Appalachia mountains.

I am now reading Miracle Cure by Harlen Coben....a murder mystery medical novel.

"The Roots of Obama's Rage" by Dinesh D'Souza. I have been trying to start it for 3 weeks...I will do it this weekend! What I have read so far scared the living daylights out of me. Next it is on to Cheney's "In My Time".

I'm reading "Tripwire" by Lee Child. Someone here recommended Child's Jack Reacher series...this is the third one I've read (I'm reading them in order), and I really like them all so far.

I loved the Lisa Gardner books!! If you like that type read...try the In Death series by JD Robb (Nora Roberts)...also Sue Grafton or JA Jance, or Iris Johannsen

I just finished a book of short stories by Amy Bloom, and have started another. I realized that I'm drawn to her books not because I'm eager to find out what happens in the plot, or because I care about the characters, but because her writing is so extraordinary.

Right now reading Plea of Insanity by Jiliane Hoffman

Harlan Coben is one of my top fave authors but I was so disappointed in his new one Shelter the new series with Mickey Bolitor. It just stopped I thought I had lost part of the download it ended so abruptly.

I have almost all of the Lee Child books, he is one of my husbands fave authors but I have never read him I should give him a try since I have plenty of his books to read.

I'm reading Maine by J. Courtney Sullivan, good read and also reading Ladies of the Lake also a good read. I read Paris Wife and finished it but it didn't grab me. Love Lisa Gardner's books.

I buy Debbie Mccomber's hardback books. I was disappointed in the last one. It was very small and there was so much background about the different characters, it made the actual story very short.

"The Assault on Reason" by Albert Gore, and "Decision Points" by George Bush.

I just finished, "Capital Crimes" by Stuart Woods and thought it was excellent.....I also like the Ferm Michales series with the "ladies"....
Another good read is anything by James Patterson, just finished "Cross"....
And of course Nora Roberts, "Hidden Riches"....

I could go on and on, I usually have about 3 books going at any given time.....

LOVE all the Reacher books by Lee Child. Currently reading a J.A.Jance book, her 4th about Ali Reynolds.... The title escapes me at this moment. I like the Sheriff Brady ones better, though.

I am reading one in a series of books by CJ Box. He has a few stand alones that are good, but I love a good series. These are shelved as mysteries, but so much more. The central character is Joe Pickett, a game warden in Wyoming. First book isn't the strongest, but you need it for total enjoyment of the series. For those of you who like Lisa Gardner, try Lisa Scottoline. I have several mystery series writers I could recommend if anyone is interested. And I just finished a nonfiction, Nothing Daunted, about 2 Eastern society girls who went to very rural Colorado around 1915 to teach school. No teaching background and no one in either family had ever been hired for a job before! They were Smith graduates, traveled Europe and were single in their late 20's and hadn't found anyone they wanted to marry.

I just finished Ghost Rider: Travels on the Healing Road by Neil Peart. (Neil Peart is the drummer and lyricist for the Canadian rock band Rush.) After he lost his 19 year old daughter in an auto accident and his wife to cancer during the same year he took a very long and healing journey of 55,000 miles on his motorcycle. He traveled from his mountain home in Canada, across North America to Mexico, down to Belize and then back again.

I have been reading all the Sherlock Holmes mysteries. My Dad bought me a set of Sherlock Holmes mysteries when I was a kid but now I am reading them on my ereader.

kind of odd to see two books written by Hoffman. wonder if I could be related since that is my mothers maiden name. LOL O I know they dont use their real names sometimes. I just finished Janette Okes SPRINGS GENTLE PROMISE and now started her WHEN CALLS THE HEART. I really like her books and also the Hallmark channels series on her books.

I love a good mystery and I think the late Sidney Sheldon is the best. He's the author whose books I buy. I just Are You Afraid of the Dark? As usual, twists and turns and I loved it.

Sue Grafton is terrific! I stopped reading the Death series, but I'll have to get into them again.

I have just finished reading an amazing book. I say amazing because I grew up with the author. We were friends all through Jr. and Sr. High. She even sang at my wedding. We lost touch until last year. She told me that she had done some writing but last week I received an autographed book from her. ""Anne Merrill, a reluctant psychic, becomes an OSS agent in World War II and soon finds herself not only fighting the regular war but, also, a psychic war with her powerful, psychic father, Albert. He and the worldwide, ancient, secret society, the Chhayas Society (Shadows Society), are using psychic powers along with earth forces that magnify those powers to assist the Nazis." It was really a good read. I am proud of her and the book.

Oh Sue, I love that book and have read it 3 times. I've bought a half dozen copies and given them to friends and family who are suffering a loss.

I have a CJ Box book on my ereader in my to read list. It is titled Cold Wind, will be my first one.
