I was thinking we should start a thread with gift ideas.

One thing my kids love are Playhut popup tents. We have a fire truck that gets used all of the time. We also have a Star Wars one that's a game where you throw balls in the pckets. I bought a school bus this year.

Many are under $30 and the best thing is that they fold up flat and can be stored behind a couch or under a bed when they're not using them. Anyone with space issues would appreciate this. They just pop right back up when the kids want to play with them again.

Bright and Fun Toys.com has a large selection with free shipping but they are sold everywhere. I bought the bus off of ebay since I wanted the one that matches our firetruck and they changed the style and don't make that one anymore.

Great gift ideas.. We have made the bed warmers for a long time. We make the outside from fleece or flannel. We make it extra long and tie it off with a ribbon. My grandaughter made them for her treacher and decorated on the bag with washable markers.

I have a rice bag like that but rarely use it because it's such a moist heat and after the heat is gone, I get cold from being damp. I've tried drying it out in the oven but it doesn't last. Maybe it's just too humid here, I don't know, but even when I wrap it in a towel, the damp comes thru.

Here's a new idea I just heard of- a woman gave her son-in-law a present of "Pie of the Month". Every month, she makes him whatever kind of pie he's in the mood for. Isn't that a great idea?

I think the pie of the month is a great idea. Those 'of the month' things are usually outrageously expensive for what you get.

Several years ago neck warmers were all the vogue. I made a lot of them with knee high socks. Gave them as gifts.

I found socks with different colors of stripes, or other designs. Even found several pairs of socks with toes.

Filled them with rice and stitched the tops together.

I don't like using rice, it starts to stink. I either use corn or flax now.

When our DD married in 2005, her future MIL encouraged her to register for lots of stuff since their town really turns out for weddings and they were such an old family in that small town. Well, the older folks just do not know how to use computers to shop, so she did not get a lot of what she registered for as those stores were not local to the grooms hometown or to those states the guests came from. As a result, my sister and I used the incomplete wedding registry as gift ideas for a few years after that to finish out her good dishes, some cooking equipment she really wanted, etc. So if you have a recently married on your Christmas list, check out what they may still want.

Take the little ceramic balls that is sold at kitchen stores or in catalogs for Pie Shell Weights and put them in your bed-warming bags. They get warm, yet don't get moist or smell as bad. l.marie
