I can drink iced drinks without a straw. When in a restaurant I will always ask for a straw.

Yes, I prefer a straw when I am out. They use so much ice in the drinks that I find the liquid hurts my teeth if I don't use a straw.

I "need" a straw. I think drinks taste better when you use a straw-the liquid gets concentrated on the center of your tongue. At leasts that's how I justify buying straws.

I have to have a straw for any liquid drink, including hot coffee / tea.

I don't mind soft drinks with a straw, but I don't like to drink iced tea through a straw. I always order iced tea when I eat out, and I never use a straw.

I don't usually have ice in my drinks at home, but I prefer a straw when we're out. Ever had a clog of ice break loose when you're trying to tip the glass to get a sip or swallow and have ice and drink go all down your neck and chest? I HATE THAT!!!

I'll occasionally use a straw but can't remember a time where I've needed one. How can someone "need" a straw one place but not another?

I find when I drink something with ice in it, I swallow too much air and get all gassy and burp too much. Not very lady-like..... LOL So, I prefer a straw.

Until recently it didn't matter to me whether or not I used a straw. But this last year I have had two crowns "installed", LOL, and those two teeth are very sensitive to heat and cold, so a straw keeps the cold from reaching that area. Interestingly, If I drink from a bottle it is also easier to keep the cold from that area.

A school teacher I had in my early school days taught us to use a straw at all times when drinking to help save our teeth. It prevents stains and helps prevent cavaties. I use a straw for everything, even in a bottle except for coffee, where I probably need it the most.

I like to use a straw when we're eating out. I never use one at home though unless I'm having a cocktail.

I am a straw girl too. I picked up the habit when my front teeth became sensitive to cold. I always was fearful of ice hitting my teeth too. Not sure why. I have really good strong teeth, but just like a straw better. My neighbor worked at a grocery store, and would bring me close outs.
I probably have close to 1000 in my pantry.
Funny thing, I am kinda picky about the size of my straw, and they have to be the flex kind. Weird?
