I have one and no I don't like it. It takes forever and my dogs hate having the toenails trimmed. I used it once and that was the end of that. I laugh when I see the commercial. I told my DH those dogs must be drugged. My dogs would never just hand me their paw to have their toenails clipped. lol

Miss Emmie is actually better having them filed than clipping.Now ...the boys...they think the dremmel is going to eat them.So they get clipped.I thought the PediPaws would be slow,the dremmel is pretty fast,I have the rough sandpaper thing on it.I may just take the Pedipaws back.I don't know why he thought it would be better.I haven't tried the dremmel on the cats yet...gotta get my nerve up first! LOL!

We got the Peticure and it works great. Tried the dremel but kept getting hair caught on it. Doesn't happen with the Peticure. The Pedipaws is less expensive but looks about the same. I didn't see the Pedipaws until after I got the Peticure. My dogs weren't crazy about it but weren't as bad as when we clip the nails. I did my friend's Golden and he didn't mind at all.

I don't know about those pet manicure machines. But I am able to cut my two cats' nails with a human toenail cutter. You hold the paw in your hand and press gently just a little below the nail. It sticks out and you can easily snip it blunt with a toenail cutter/clipper.

I wish I had not bought mine. While it does work, it is a bit slow going. None of the dogs seem to mind it much. It is much better than clipping, but I wish I had thought about my dremel! Would have saved the money!

I don't have one, however the consensus on my Scottie Dog list is to save your money, I think 2 people said they were ok, and about 10 didn't like it.

For those of you who use the dremel and have dogs with long hair on the paws, take old panty hose, stick the nails through the panty hose so the hair stays inside and grind away. I used to do that when I groomed dogs for a living.

I'm lucky..all my dogs are shorthaired..And there's a reason for that,I'm LAZY! LOL! I don't like to have to groom a lomg haired dog.Had a Yorkie once...sweet dog but never again!
I do like the dremmel better,I went to that doberman site.I have to get "the boys" used to it now.The girls are fine with it.

My dog Sheba would freak out if I went even close to her with anything that buzzes,but is a good girl getting them clipped.
I'm still not sure how her groomer gets a hairdryer near her,but when I pick her up she's fluffed and dry(American Eskimo)Enough said...LOL

If you look closely, those dogs are so calm because the darn thing isn't even ON. The drum inside isn't turning during the commercial.

Geez- from now on I am coming here before spending any more money!

I have a Blue & Gold Macaw, DH uses a dremel on her but its still not ideal, any suggestions? Her nails are killers!!!

I just saw this post and wanted to add my two cents.

I have a Pedipaw's and find that it works fine. I am glad I have it and took the time to learn to use it. If it takes too long, like earlier posters have said, you might need to change the sanding piece. It should not take long at all once you and the pet are used to doing this.

First you and your pet have to get used to the noise, then the vibration. The sites tell you to do this slowly, over a few days or such. Then you can start really shortening the nails.

I got my dog used to the machine itself in a few days. Then I got his nails much shorter, by carefully following the instructions from the manufacturer, it was only then that I found DoberDawn's site. Her instructions answered a ton of questions and I am much better at this now.

Most importantly, my dogs nails look great, but more decisive to me is that he is much more comfortable (I really had no idea his nails had gotten so long, from much fewer winter walks, compared to his 2 - 4 daily walks in good weather). So I am embarrassed to state his nails were really long, and a few curved under when we started.

Try it, practice it. You'll probably be quite good at it in short order, but not overnight.
