Amazon started running their Black Friday deals today, and I just bought the first three seasons of Mad Men for $9.99 apiece (free shipping). I'm giving them as a gift--although I hope I get to borrow them. :-)

Amazon also has the second Sex and the City movie for $9.00. And of course they have other things besides DVDs on sale.

I've just begun looking for bargains, but it certainly looks like they're out there. My sewing machine was a Black Friday special last year.

I got a TCL 40-Inch 1080p 60 Hz LCD HDTV for 399.98 from Amazon.com It got pretty good reviews, and it comes with
free shipping, I paid no tax and it has a two year warranty. I know it's a off-brand but I read some of it's componets are made by Samsung.
I have been looking for one for my bedroom, was planning on a 32" but this seemed like a great deal. I ordered it this morning. I can't wait to get it!

I saw that! Some of those reviews are really seductive. :-)

Did you read that TCL employs 50,000 people? Not exactly a fly-by-night company. Let us know how you like the TV!

Don, he wasn't my first parrot....He could be likened to finally getting a Porsche, if you're into cars. I brought him home when he was 5 weeks old.... about mid-April, 1999. Here is his baby picture when he came home. I'd been going over to my friend's house (the breeder), to hand feed him when she pulled him from the nestbox. I continued to hand feed him, with what is called "abundance feeding" so he weaned himself, at 22 weeks old, without feeling deprived. He weighed 600 grams as a well fed baby boy, and he weighs that now as an adult. He has beautiful feathers, no fat, great muscle tone especially in his breast which allows him to fly efficiently.....but consider that birds are so aerodynamic, with hollow bones, hollow feathers, they eat moderately frequently, also poop frequently and do it almost EVERY time before they take flight....which is a clue to imminent flight, by the way.

Check out Ebates before you buy anything on-line (whether appliances or t-shirts). It is a legit site and you get cash back on purchases if you click through their web site. Abt and AJ Madison are listed (but not for Miele). I got a nice check after remodeling my bathroom last year. Home Depot, Home Portfolio, Target, etc. had good rebates and you can still use all of the store's coupons. The rebates for some (not sure if it was all) stores doubled for Black Friday and I will be on the lookout again Cyber Monday. I ordered several delta Cassidy items as well! Unfortunately almost all my bathroom Cassidy items are back ordered but I've got plenty of time since our slab was just poured today. I contacted them today to confirm which items were back ordered so that I'd know what to expect in the shipment and it's a good thing I did! They were holding the rest of my order until those few items showed up at the distribution center. They'll go ahead and send what's in stock if you contact them (they offered, I didn't have to ask). My order contains 32 items and they're not being delivered to the job site so breaking it up into smaller deliveries is definitely a good thing!

I just got a super deal on an alarm clock, but I don't think it had anything to do with Black Friday. Newegg has one with decent reviews on sale for $4.99 with free shipping! (Amazon is selling it for $17.37.) I just wanted a simple electronic alarm clock, no radio, and this one looks perfect.

We did our Black Friday shopping at Kohl's online earlier today. Bought a new comforter set for the new bedroom set we bought last month for our guest room. If you buy $75 or more it was free shipping. The comforter set was $69 so we bought a much needed 1 qt sauce pan for $16. Used the free shipping code and I found another code for 15% off so the total bill was about $95. We got free shipping but because the comforter set is large, we had to pay a surcharge of $7.50 or so.

Where ever you order from, Google the store name and the words Coupon Code and you will find other deals out there to bring the cost down.

WE got the 42" Emerson LCD tv at WalMart for $399, the Magnavox blue-ray player that can stream Net-flix for $69.00 and four HDMI cables that are normally $35.00 at WalMart for $10.00 each. I am a happy camper! And we got to go to Perkins for breakfast!
Oh, and a programmable coffee-pot for $9.97!

I got a 3 crock pot cooking and heating unit for $29.99 regular $59.99. I think I will really like it. Husband got a new garage door opener with battery back up and a new tool chest. I don't have a clue how much they were but know it was a great deal on both of them.
