Haven't seen any of these in a LONG time and had a blast watching them again. since then i think I have watched about 30 hours of college football- ready for somethign that doesn't involve half-grown men running into each other!

I seldom do, just because I don't think of it. I remember watching one of the Christmas movies years ago with Jimmy Stewart. It was amazing.

But my best/favourite movie is The Notebook. I love the style of dresses and shoes in those days. Awesome movie. Cry every time.

Believe it or not, I haven't seen the notebook. I have so many movies to catch up on.

You have to make time to see it. On one hand it's a real fee-good movie, on the other, it's incredibly sad and poignant.

I will do that. I've always heard good reviews on it, I don't know why I never got around to seeing it.

I used to enjoy the old Doris Day movies. And anything with Rock Hudson in it. And a movie with them together in it was icing on the cake. lol

My daughters favorite old movie is Arsenic and Old Lace.

Another old favorite of mine is The Bad Seed.

I ehjoy watching those black/white movies. I also watched
Mildred Pierce the other night.

I like The African Queen.
Bigbaby is partial to The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.

Alisande, you said it. I love old movies, especially Cary Grant ones. He's easy to look at and has a great sense of humor. I like old Doris Day and Claudett Colbert movies too. Spencer Tracy always.

I love old movies and I would rather watch them than anything that is shown today. I often wished I could have seen them on the big screen.

I love the old black and white movies. The Thin Man movies are among my favourites. I like old gangster movies too. Doris Day movies I grew up on and I used to wonder how come my parents did not act like the adults in the movie.

I like the old Gidget and Moondoggie movies and also the Trouble with Angels - I think there were 2 movies put out. They were shown a few times every year on tv but I haven't seen them in years now. I used to look forward to watching those movies. Every week we could watch a Doris Day movie.
I also like the Tammy movies which were shown often too.

What I like best about old movies now is what is in the background - furniture, room decor, kitchens, etc.

Not having cable service at least I can watch an old movie once in a while on PBS or the new retro station that I have now when I got the digital converter. I love the old shows that the retro station airs.

I saw part of a Gidget movie a month or so ago and haven't see the Tammy movies in a LONG time. My sister in law is named Tammy from the movies, LOL.

The ones I saw this week were on Turner Movie Classics (TMC)- they don't have commercials. Luckily, I DTV and can pause live TV for potty and food breaks!

Anything before 1950 is old to me. But I love Casablanca and Gone With The Wind and The Third Man and The Thin Man movies, and Maltese Falcon. I can watch over and over again.

I'm with the Cary Grant contingent. My favorite, maybe, is "Notorious."

I think the reason that people often think "old movies" are better than new ones is that the bad movies get lost over time, so we only remember the cream of the crop. For every "Casablanca", "Singing in the Rain," and "Some Like it Hot," there were a dozen other movies that are forgotten.

BTW, I never understand why the cutoff for "old movies" seems to be somewhere in the late 50's, or maybe the early 60's. Even though they're 40+ years old now, you never hear people refer to movies like "The Graduate" or "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" as old movies.

When my kids were little, old movies were shown all the time on our local PBS station. We especially loved Shirley Temple and Deanna Durbin. Do you remember Deanna? In her movies, any situation was an excuse for her to burst into song. :-)

I've read that at the height of her popularity she married a Frenchman, moved to Paris, had a bunch of kids, and got fat. I hope the fat part wasn't true. The rest of it sounds pretty good.

For those without cable Best Buy and most big box stores sell collections on dvd and they are really cheap. Sometimes you can get 8-10 movies for $10.00. We have an old theatre (turn of the century) not far from where I live that I used to walk to for double features on saturday. What fun that was! Well, they restored the theatre and it is truly a gem. Redford theatre in Detroit. They show a lot of old movies every week there, and I've been meaning to go and haven't got around to it. A couple of weeks ago they did a 3 stooges festival! What a riot!

My husband is a big movie fan. We love the movies of the 30's, 40's , even later. Love, love, love Arsenic and Old Lacer, it was on just last week. My favorite actress is Bette Davis, she was so beautiful when she was young. I loved the Stooges on TV when I was a kid! My favorite comedies are any movies by Laurel and Hardy. They were the best! My DH owns a set of all their movies and shorts, he bought it from Amazon UK.

I like alot of the old ones I grew up with. Do you remember "Mr. Peabody & the Mermaid"? That was one of my favorits, its from the 40-50's maybe. Those were the days of good clean movies. Shirly temple was always good, the old Twilight Zone, too many to remember.

I loved the old Twilight Zone! I don't remember "Mr. Peabody" though. I was looking ahead in the guide a little while ago...and I saw some really old Joan Crawford going back to 1928 and 1929. I didn't even realize they played them that old. One of them is a "silent" film.

I think I most prefer them from the 40s and 50s...but there are lots of them from all eras that I like.

I miss seeing the old Bowery Boys movies. I think they were also called This Old Gang movies or something like that. I may be one of a few people who doesn't really think Casablanca is a great movie. I never watch it when it comes on.

Every Christmas I go to Walmart and pick up a few old black and white movie CD's - some have 3 movies on them. They come in a cardboard folder - no plastic case. I recently purchased on old movie which had Ronald Reagen in it - I think it was called In the Army Now. What a great movie with lots of dancing and variety acts, etc. Joe Louis had a bit part in it too.

I love the Ghost and Mrs. Muir and watched it last week.

I remember staying up half the night watching my 12" black and white t.v. (great Christmas gift!) ..watching the old Blondie movies! I loved those! And Shirley Temple and the old horror flicks. That Sharp t.v. lasted over 23 years and was still going strong when I donated it to a radio station I was working at. I wouldn't be surprised if it was still working today.

Now I'm in the mood to cuddle up on the couch in my jammies and watch old movies.

I LOVE old movies and always have. My mom started me on them when I was little. We watched every musical on TV and then I learned to love everything. I think I could type all night the names of movies I love. Doris Day and Gene Kelly are my favorites and think I've seen them all. I just watched "Young at Heart" the other day. Love Spencer Tracey and Katherine Hepburn. Merna Loy was lovely.
