at my eldest nephew's Eagle Scout award ceremony!

Wow! I'm a little flabbergasted. My brother asked me today to speak at DN's award ceremony and present the flag I had flown for him over the US Capitol and present the autographed t-shirt and picture by our distant cousin, NASCAR driver Regan Smith.

His grandfather (my dad) would be so proud of him. My mom isn't doing well lately, but I hope she'll be able to come and understand all that's going on. She's so out of it today - it really worries me.

A little piece of trivia - my grandfather (paternal) was in the very first boy scout troop ever back in England under Sir Baden Powell. Kinda neat huh?

Wow! Please extend my congratulations to your nephew!!

I have absolutely no idea what to say in your speech, other than you should definitely mention that your DN is proudly carrying on a tradition in your family started by his great-grandfather [insert name here].

You can mention your paternal grandfather and how proud he would be today of your nephew and all the other fine young men reaching manhood with such a wonderful sense of what it takes and means to be an Eagle Scout. Congratulations

OK, I guess your absence is excused. :) Everything you've put your talented hands to is just terrific! I certainly hope the fireplace and the many snowflakes have been stored lovingly away so they may be hauled out in all the years to come. Loving efforts like your's (!) are the basis of "traditions". I do so hope the fact is not "lost" on people who, too often, look only to the "goal" immediately in front of them... I could have sent you cat and dog hair in quantities certain to cover a child's mask in no time flat. (Unlike Cynthia, ;) ). Babs., you would have really like Mum a lot. She was always "into" something... (consequently, so were my brother and I). Papier mache, stripping furniture, painting something, sewing, hooking rugs or braiding them... . Our Halloween costumes were wonderful... but we were required to be something SCAREY... no princesses allowed. I see you've used your time profitably and JUDICIOUSLY. I'm not in the least surprised! and am delighted with your photo essay.

Vrie, that's absolutely positively not Queen Elizabeth. QE is a Grandiflora-class rose, which blooms both in singles and in low-numbered clusters ...and tends to have a hybrid-tea's long-ish stems below a bloom. Your rose is blooming in higher-number clusters and the buds are on *very* short stems. My area of rose-knowledge is mostly limited to Hybrid Teas and Grandifloras (I grow about 80 varieties of them - including two Queen Elizabeth bushes), so I can't be much help about your non-HT/non-GF mystery-rose's name. All I can do is note that its bloom-color is indeed very very similar to Queen Elizabeth (which may help you in your quest) ...but it's definitely not QE. Regards, JohnReb

Thank you all. :) I feel like she was sent to us for a reason and we love her so much. She hasn't snapped at me in almost a week. LOL She still doesn't care much for our pug kids but we're making tiny steps in the right direction. I took a chance on her level of trust in me and cut her hair earlier. She done very! well , much to my suprise. Healthwise, she's on a roll in the right direction. Finally putting on some weight (she was 9 whole lbs @ her vet checkup :( ) , her hair is growing back and her owies are healing. I hope on hope there's a special place in hell for the person that treated her so badly and the more I work with her and learn , the more I hope that person goes there. That isn't neccessarily the right way to think but from my experience and in working with her , I've figured out she was absolutly loved , pampered and trained by someone in her former life and then for whatever reason landed in the wrong hands. I took her to a public event and she socially gravitated toward older gentleman and not even knowing them , sat ever so gently next to them at their feet. I really think she was owned by such a gentleman and then he met an unfortunate fate of some type (i.e. nursing home, facility or worse) and whomever was supposed to care for her in a way he hoped, sure failed her miserably. She lets me work with her , love on her and care for her BUT she truly thinks the sun rises and sets on my husband so she certainly puts more trust in men than women. Lucky for her , he loves her as much as she does him or she'd be in trouble (or I would...LOL). Anyways, that's the Honey update. :) Have a safe and happy holiday weekend everyone!!

Sweet luv let me tell you the most important thing about your situation. You are sinning against God for being with a Married man only consequential things are going to occur to you and he still is going to be married to his wife but your spirit is going to be ruined. Take it from me I was in the same situation as you exact but for 16 years. Everything was so good and every year he was going to divorce his wife and every year it was an excuse. Don't fall for it. I made triple the amount as he did, but 10 years later my sin caught up with me. I lost my income, lost my great career he got nastier and blamed me. He was very verbal abusive then turned physical when he knew his cash cow was living. Get out while you can it will only get worse. I was with him for 16 years you only done 8 I know what the love feels like but it's only one way. Jesus loves you more go after his love. Ever since I left him and got back with the lord my life has been restored. Don't wait to got humble you from your sin and take everything from you. Please trust me it's going to get way way way way worse. Please take it from someone with experience in the truth of what your going through. God Bless you and I hope you do the right thing. Kick him to the curb.

Congratulatons to your DN,my son is working on his Eagle Scout project right now.I am so proud of all these boys that stick w/it and accomplish this.WAY TO EAGLE SCOUTS.

Well, you certainly have to mention the great grandfather's history in scouting and how proud he would be of your nephew. I would mention that this is an award the carries with it such significance that it is worthy of mention in future job applications as I know of men who consider that such an indicator of hard work, dedication and character that they seek out such employees. Mention that it is a step into manhood, teaching a boy the value of planning, coordinating, giving, responsibility, etc. through his executing and experiencing it all.
