I have had a crockpot cooking all day loaded up with Navy Beans and a ton of ham and tasso, some rice cooking to go with it. It sure is smelling yummy.

DH is playing, so I made salmon patties, and roasted carrots, potatoes and onions in the oven.

He called to say he'll be later, and he'll heat his up when he comes home.

Its refrigerator appreciation night here, the kids are out so its just dh and I and the left-over chicken (with brocolli and yam)

We have been snacking all afternoon while watching football, so it is more of the same, salsa cheese dip, little smokies, salami and cheese, mozerella cheese sticks, and veggies and ranch dip. Will pack up the left overs and much tomorrow while watching NFL. This mama loves her football!

I was going to have leftover, warmed up meatloaf, baked potato and a veggie, but I went over to the neighbors who have been giving me apples, to take them some of the Apple/Walnut Squares I had made and we spent the next 2 hours just talking.

Came home, warmed up the meat loaf, put it on a toasted bun with ketchup, and that was dinner.

I'll have some ice cream along with one of those squares a little later.

Apple Walnut Squares All Recipes

ý cup shortening
1 cup sugar
1 egg
1ý cups all-purpose flour
1ý teaspoons baking soda
ý teaspoon salt
2ý cups finely chopped peeled tart apples
ý cup packed brown sugar
1 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a mixing bowl, cream shortening and sugar; beat in egg. Combine flour, baking soda and salt; gradually add to the creamed mixture and mix well (dough will be stiff). Stir in apples. Spread batter into a greased 13in. x 9in. x 2in. baking pan.

Combine brown sugar, walnuts, cinnamon and vanilla; sprinkle over batter. Bake at 350ð for 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Cool. Cut into squares.

It was a late supper at Cracker Barrel...chicken and rice. Good stuff.

You are right Sue Va. I would have had something fixed if I had known they all would have been around for supper time. By the time they decided to order pizza and go pick it up, I could have already been in bed and sound asleep!

Marilyn_Sue, I hope you had better luck with your Pizza Hut supper than we did. They now have 2 strikes. Last week, we stopped at one to use a gift card I had bought for when we were on the road. Had our meal, went to pay. They told us the machine to process the gift card didn't work. Now what? We really didn't have enough cash with us. We ended up paying by cc. We thought it was the same machine, but IT worked! DH emailed the company when we got home. BTW the manager wasn't very nice about it, either. Company emailed back they would send us coupons. They were told we didn't want to go back to that store. Guess where the coupons are for?! Yep, same place.

Last night we went to a local one to use up the gift card. Checked first to see if we would be able to use the gift card. No problem. Got our pizza, it had sausage on it, which we did NOT order. Talked to the server, she got the manager who checked the order. A different server took our order, because ours was busy. It had been put in wrong. Manager made us a new one, and was told about our previous experience. That was a new one for her! SHE told us it's the same machine for both the gift cards and the credit cards! Then when the bill came, she had credited us for the pizzas. We STILL haven't finished the card! But we did get 2 free pizzas.

Tonight will be beef stew.
