I burst out laughing. I have no idea who this person is. It is one sentence. No reason WHY I should donate. Just this:

Please donate to me by paypal bob @bobbear. co.uk

as if!

The return email address is ret@closelymonitor.com

I'll bet he closely monitors all the idiots who are dumb enough to click on the link he gave!

You'd be surprised how many will oblige! I'm surprised they didn't put in there "send this to everyone you know!"

I firmly believe that if someone sent out an email saying to go into the middle of the freeway, strip naked and cluck like a chicken during rush hour, traffic would be backed up for days!

Boy, Leslie. I agree with those people on Photobucket's forum. Comparing the email's wording with what is actually happening makes the email very confusing and chastising. In case you haven't had a chance to read it yet, they're saying if you use the links that are provided by Photobucket (the ones under your pictures), your pics will be okay. However, if you have something posted on the web from several years (doesn't say how long ago), then they are old links and might not work because they were hosted by Photobucket's old servers they no longer use. Or.....if someone sees your pictures on the web and right clicks on them to get the URL and post elsewhere (bandwidth theft), then those pics will not show up as of March 24th because they were improperly linked. So no, you don't have to modify anything in your account. Only those links (to the actual posted pictures) that were posted many years ago and those that were posted using the picture's URL (by right clicking) will have to be corrected. If you posted anything like that on a forum like this one, where you cannot edit your posts, then those pics will cease to show and an error message (not a red x) will replace them.

My sister emailed me with what happened. I still don't understand it all, but my sister said when she switched from dial up to DSL a few years ago, a lot of her old messages from dial up server got saved somehow to the DSL server. (She didn't know that.)When our phone company was bought out by another, these old emails somehow 'surfaced' and were jamming up her current system. When the new company tried to delete these messages, these old emails were re-sent during that process. As for why I still received it even though my new email took effect almost 5 yrs ago, for some reason, the cable company is still forwarding emails from the old address. I've enjoyed reading about some of the rest of you having similar problems. I really don't get how that delayed voice mail could have happened. Eerie...... Shirley

I can't afford PayPal.

Actually, I just asked for a "subsidy" to help cover my gas cost on the tour of the U.S. that cynic thoughtfully offered, via Long Island, Florida, Minnesota, North Dakota, etc. while en route from Detroit (or, Buffalo, maybe) to Phoenix, where my daughter's arranging my 870th (that was supposed to be "80th" - drat those keyboards!) birthday celebration for late Jan.

Don't have much result to offer ... but I only asked about a couple of hours ago.

Do you think I'd have more success if I were to have asked for "donations"?

P.S. You'll note that cynic's thoughtfulness was expressed by not sending me through Vegas ... wanted to preserve my "poke", I guess.
