I HAVE to show ya'll this one!

It is NOT one of mine. She is a prototype of a new doll kit that will soon be coming out.

The baby belongs to a couple that own a reborn supply company. They had a sculpter by the name of Donna RuBert to sculpt their baby and now are having it done in vinyl kits to be sold. I am floored by how well she did making the doll look exactly like the real life baby!

And the woman who reborn it is named Melissa George. She did a wonderful job making this doll come to life!

Isn't it amazing?!

Incredible. This reminds me of that movie "AI- Artificial Intelligence"! May I ask how much the dolls sell for, including the special commissioned ones?

Amazing! I've been interested in the reborns for several years. You do an fantastic job with yours Diana... I enjoy seeing the photos you post on the picture of the day thread.

I would choose the GLUFER!! ...NOT! It IS a ridiculous practice. I posted a pic recently where they are at least admitting it is cactus with a strawflower (although some folks still don't know they're not supposed to be on cactus). I was at one of the local Home Depots the other day. Saw their selection of glufers & asked one of the workers about it. He agreed with everything I said-how horrible it was. I termed it "mutilation". He did give me a piece of advice I plan to follow-up on, saying at the bottom of the receipt, it has a url where you can go to tell them how they're doing. He said they are REAL BIG on looking at these at their weekly meetings. So, everyone here can get on the bandwagon & do this at your local big box stores!! Maybe it will make a difference! Ron, thanks for the soaking tip! I will try out that & hope it works for me. :) It took several years for my cactus to outgrow its wounds-where you can't tell too much what happened to it.

You normally do not need to prune hydrangeas, valtorrez, especially if your plants are that small. Instead of worrying about pruning, check some of the other things that could be causing few blooms (other than the plant size itself). Add about 1 cup of cottonseed meal in June and sprinkle coffee grounds or weak fertilizers like liquid seaweed during the growing season. Make sure that the plants get some sun. Generally speaking, the more sun a plant gets, the better flower production is. And maintain the soil constantly moist as best as you can. If a finger inserted to a depth of 4" feels almost dry or dry then water. About 1 gallon of water per week, applied to the soil, should be enough in Spring. Increase the frequency or the amount as summer approaches or as the plant gets bigger. And reduce the amount of water in the Fall. When the soil is frozen in Winter, do not water. But water somewhat during warm dry winters. About 3-4" of mulch should help keep the soil moist longer. A soil test done once every 5 years (or so) is a good idea to make sure that your soil does not need extra doses of some minerals or soil pH amendments. Cheap kits are sold to give you an idea of how acidic or alkaline your soil is. Hydrangeas prefer acidic soil and will tolerate some alkalinity. Nearby local nurseries and neighbors might be able to tell you if your soil is acidic or alkaline. Height is a genetic trait and varies depending on the variety of hydrangea that you have. Pictures of the blooms, leaves and stems are the usual ways of telling what hydrangea variety you have but, even then, some varieties are so similar that, it may not be possible to identify with 100% accuracy. Please post any pictures that you have to see if anyone can help. Colored (blue/pink) blooms suggest that you probably have hydrangea macrophyllas, which come in two flavors: mopheads and lacecaps. Their flower buds develop starting in July-ish. Some macrophyllas develop blooms only once a year, around July, while others -like Endless Summer- develop blooms around July and again in Spring (or Spring & Summer). When you do not know what variety of hydrangea macrophylla you have, you must prune carefully. If you prune NOW a mophead that blooms only once, you would be pruning away the Spring 2010 blooms. And you would not have blooms again until Spring 2011. So until you can identify the variety, if you have to prune, prune sometime after blooming but before the start of July. In the case of a hydrangea like Endless Summer, pruning them now in March results in no early Spring blooms; but new ones will develop quickly so there is no risk of zero blooms during the complete growing season. Deadheading will encourage the plant to bloom again. Last year's dried out blooms may start to disintegrate between now and May. The strings that hold them may now be brittle enough where they break just by applying a little pressure. If not, deadhead them or wait a month & try again...... I usually just let them fall to the ground on their own. I know I am not showing much of them. But the dealer swore they were imported from France. And are about a hundred and fifty years old. They are shorter than normal twin beds, which is typical. I bought them, gosh, maybe sixteen years ago and love them. I haven't done much to them and they look like real plain Jane's. But I do love them and have received so many compliments on them over the years. I am planning on having some very french duvet covers made for them to fancy them up. They are so sturdy, which concerns me. Oh well. .....Jane

Difficult to tell for sure. Ive got about 12 baby blue and 2 baby blue eyes, all about that size at present. Of my trees (ymmv), the baby blue are definitely more blue while the baby blue eyes are more silvery (like yours). Ignoring the color, my BBE appear to have that form/branching style. .The best way to tell, however, may be how much you paid. The baby blue tend to be about half the price (or less) of the baby blue eyes, at least here in Ohio (where conifers seem to be noticeably cheaper compared to whenever I see prices mentioned from other parts of country on here). Id say if you paid (full price) $70 or more it is prob BBE. $60 or less, probably BB. I got most of my BB on special (they just picked the worst looking ones and marked em down to 10). I like em both and looking forward to seeing variations in the seed grown BB. The BB are also supposed to be narrower which I like.

OMG~I would LOVE to have one of my Rachel when she was a newborn. I think it would feel like I have a piece of her back. But then again, I might go crazy and just rock her, and never let her go.

Schoolhouse, I have no idea how much it would cost to have one sculpted, but I would imagine somewhere around a thousand dollars or more.

As for the reborn dolls their prices are all over the map. lol I've seen some as low as $99 and some as high as $3,000. Of course, only the best reborners bring in the high dollars, and their dolls are very, very realistic and painted beautifully. I just look at them and shake my head in awe.

It's so funny..I have worked dressing dolls for many years now and today I babysat my sons girlfriends little one year old. I put a diaper on her and when I stood her up it was all crooked looking. She had one butt cheek sticking out..it was that crooked. lol My son just laughed at me.

Snap, the one above has already sold. She was the very first prototype of this doll.

There is a second one on eBay, and it's cute..but I don't think it's as pretty. They were both painted by different artist.

These are just amazing and I just now saw a couple of your dolls I had no idea you did these. do you have a page of pictures of the ones you have done? I am just blown away truly, what amazing talent.

I showed my husband one of your's that you had posted and he said oh what a precious baby, then I told him it was not real he would not believe me! They are so life like. I really like your's I think more than this one.

dianamo, your babies are truly amazing! I had to google, and omg. They have ones that are heated, have the heartbeat sound, breathing motion, and a recorder that you can record real baby sounds onto.
And, if you've always wanted a monkey, but know how crazy that could be, there are monkey ones too! Lol
