What's for dinner 11/12?

Leftover beef stew. I need to add some more potatoes and carrots since we ate most of those last night. It was really good and I'm looking forward to having it again. We'll have warm Italian bread to go with it.

Y'all always have such good things to eat and I get some inspiration from reading about your dinners, whether you cook or eat out. What are you having today?

I had a late lunch in the Amish country today. My four sisters and I spent most of the day there. Lunch was all homemade....chicken pot pie w/side dish, plus homemade bread and homemade apple butter. And they claim to have the world's smallest sundaes...to me they're the perfect size. Anyway, supper will be a sandwich later on tonight.

I so agree with your last statement, patti. Some of these meals sound so very, very good. There have been times, I've had to go out later on in the week and buy ingredients to make something that I've read about on this thread.

Mine was not good.
Supposed to be a great seafood gumbo, at well known Bright Star, here, and was no fresh. Only had a few bites.

BUT Bruesters cup of raspberry and chocolate ice cream did the trick!

Well....I'm not sure how this is going to turn out, but we bought a jar of Adovado Sauce while at Ranch de Chimayo a couple of years ago and it was sitting in my pantry haunting me. Soooo, I decided to use some pork tenderloin I had and cook it up using the sauce. It's a tad spicy but we love the red chilies from NM so we're in for a treat. I'll serve it with warmed flour tortillas. Someone pass the Tums please. :)

brie with apples sounds very good . We had a very light lunch so tonight we had deviled eggs, mashed potatoes, gravy, green peas, and tried a new "fried chicken" recipe from the Deen brothers. I was a little leary of the cornflakes for the coating, and wow was I surprised, Guess it was the seasoning, but it sure didn't taste like cornflakes. Used light mayo, egg whites, lemon juice, lemon zest, to coat the boneless chicken thighs. Three year old granddaughter came over for dinner and she loved the chicken. Oh, almost forgot, granddaughter and I made peanut butter chocolate candy. She loves chocolate , and so do I. They taste like reece cups and we ate them until we almost got sick. My plan for tomorrow is to eat light.

I sneaked in a little machine quilting this morning with my morning cuppa. I get withdrawal if I don't. LOL. I doubt if I'll tackle it again tonight. This is the Saturday I watch my little g'son for the day. What a pleasure. He is ten months old and has been walking a month now, and very happy and curious. That keeps granny running. I'm in Ohio too, and the forecast looks gruesome for the weekend. We have food, we have heat.......I can nest. If it does come down I 'ain'ta going nowhere, nohow' for a few days. I got caught in a sudden and unexpected white out last weekend and had to abandon my little foreign car and get rescued by my DH in the 4WD and go fetch the car a day later. Not going 'there' again. If it makes you all feel better, I have crops in the g'house for spring already and they're popping they little green heads up. We have poinsettia deliveries all next week. That ought to be good for a laugh as we slide around in the mess. Perhaps they'll revise the forecast. It happens. Yes, I'll try to finish up the log cabin and then sew together the blocks on the design way before I start my wool quilt (I am itching to get it started, but promised myself only one UFO at a time now). I got overwhelmed with them this year.

hahaha Patti! I am laughing at the "good cook". Sometimes NOT. I love to make this on the week-ends especially because I can lay down with a good book or take a nap and get up and supper is ready. 5 Hour Stew 1 lb (or close) stew meat 4 carrots-chunked ( I use a half bag of baby carrots) 4 or 5 potatoes (depending on size) quartered 1 large onion chunked celery 2 stalks-chunked 3 tablespoons small pearl tapioca 3 cups V-8 juice 1/2 teaspoon salt 1 teaspoon sugar 1/2 to a teaspoon beef bullion or soup base 1 envelope dry onion soup mix Put meat and vegetables in roaster, mix remaining ingredients, pour juice mixture over meat and vegetables. Seal pan tightly with foil, then cover tightly with roaster lid. Bake @ 250 degrees 5 hours.

Well, I seemed to have cooked most of the day. For lunch we had oven baked tilapia, fried potatoes, green beans, coleslaw, french vanilla cake and fruit salad. Then I had Cheryl make us up a big pot of chili soup for tomorrow, but they may get into it for supper. Cheryl is picking us up some sandwiches from McDonald's when she comes back. Norm and Kevin are finishing putting up the last of the two new garage doors. Tomorrow maybe they will start on another project around here. Hope so.

Even though it's not cold here .... I'm having chili. Pulled a bag out of the freezer this morning so it will be thawing.

Our habit has been Pizza with Survivor, BUT since it(Survivor) switched to Wed nights, I just can't get into Pizza on Wed.---- So tonight we will have pizza. Homemade with bell peppers and onion and turkey pepperoni.

I agree, I often get ideas for meals from your meals.
