Marie Osmond on Oprah

Why oh why, did she have to inject her lips???

She is so beautiful, then she does that.

I assumed she had surgery because she doesn't look like the Marie Osmond I remember, I wasn't even sure it was her when I first saw her on those ads. I am not judging her for having it done, she is very beautiful. I think she has lost the sweet look I remembered.

Unfortunately she's starting to look like one of her designer dolls that she sells.

Good grief -- the woman was sitting there with
her heart bleeding over the suicide of her son, and
you are making fun of the way she looks?

    That swollen upper lip, yuck!

Making fun Molly?? Where did you get that? It is a comment, a fair one considering how odd/bad it looked. She has to have wanted comments, or she would have left well enough alone. What is sad is the self esteem of a physically beautiful women who seems to have an equally beautiful soul. How do we do this to ourselves, each other. I love her voice! I feel so sad for her sordid awful life. It should have been a fairy tale. It is so tragic.

So many times celebrities lives are sordid and awful. Well put, Arcy.

I really never can understand why people want to do that kind of stuff to their faces. Have you seen Taylor on the housewives of beverly hills, or Lisa Rinna. I can barely stand to look at them, they look hideous.

Lisa Rinna used to insist, loudly and often, that her lips were totally natural - that she hadn't had anything done to them.

Now that she has had her upper lip surgically reduced, she has admitted that she had it injected with silicone, and that the silicone had hardened.

Why am I not surprised? Sigh!!

arcy - Now she has a "sordid" life?

    sor÷did adj \ÃÂsoÃÂr-dÃÂd\
    Definition of SORDID
1: marked by baseness or grossness : vile
    2a : dirty, filthy b : wretched, squalid
    3: meanly avaricious
    (Merriam-Webster).

Does her being a celebrity mean the loss of her
son means nothing -- only what she has "done" to
her "lips" for Heavens sake? Ah, but, of course, "she
    has to have wanted comments!"

Mean spirited is also in that dictionary mentioned
    above.

I usually don't watch Oprah, but since Marie's son passed, I wanted to see her.

I have always thought that Marie Osmond was beautiful, even before the weight loss. I think she is an amazing woman with a beautiful heart and has been through so much, many would have given up.

If that's what makes her happy, by all means GO FOR IT!

I wouldn't mind looking like her at all.

I don't think she would say she has had a "sordid, awful" life. Her children mean alot to her and I think she would say that she is blessed to have the life she has had and doesn't regret it at all.

Everyone has trying times in their lives and celebrities are no different.

    She handles it with grace.

Yes, she has handled her life with much poise and grace.....
    and laughter. Nanny

2 marriages, 2 divorces, post-partum depression, a lesbian daughter, a son who committed suicide, her alleged suicide attempt. Some would consider that sordid. I think the point was that despite having all the economic advantages that celebrities have does not guarantee happiness.

You know her and her brother have been trying to get back into the lime light again theyve tried everything I cant help wonder if some of todays show wasnt for that.Did you hear the comment from Donny saying the people were nasty to her.Meaning the fans.
Before you start I know all about suicide. My fathernlaw hung himself about 15 years ago.

She looked so sad, talking about her son's death, divorce and the "what-ifs." But that upper lip just looked so unnatural. One thing I did like was the song she sang for her son. She broke up when she first started to sing it, then stated over and made it through beautifully. Not a "sordid' life at all. Tragic, but she's obviously strong enough and is moving forward.

Admire her for being brave enough to talk about her sorrow!

I went to Oprah.com.... read & watched video clips. That was heart wrenching. I am sure she is right, "No, it does not get easier." ..."[Instead], God gives you little respites."

I actually thought she looked really good, despite the overly injected lip. But that's beside the point really....

I felt so much pain for her. She truly looked really sad and I thought she did really well. The song she sang was beautiful, and I had no idea she could sing opera. At the beginning when she choked up and had to start over...she was so vulnerable and raw, I felt for her.

I went back last eve & watched the clip of her singing "Pie Jesu"..... omg! that was sooo beautiful. I wept, & tear up just thinking of it now.

I'm not sure that I would have chosen sordid to describe her life, probably sad or even tragic would be a bit more accurate. Ten plus years ago I supported the Children's Miracle Network. We provided the transportation for the PA family chosen as the State Champions when they went to Washington to met the president and then were taken to Disney World and home. Marie was the national chairperson and hosted a tea for all the sponsors. She is a beautiful person, inside and out.

No parent should ever have to suffer the pain she has endured.

I had to go search for the song. She sure can sing.
I didn't see the show, just this video. I think
she is beautiful. I can't imagine she is using this
    for career advancement.

I knew the Osmonds founded the CMN, but I did not know
that John Schneider was also a founder.

Here is a link that might be useful: Marie sings Pie Jesu

I also think she is beautiful. I thought she looked good.

I watched the show and what I saw was a Beautiful person, speaking from deep with-in her heart, grieving for a son she loved and lost. Trying to answer questions the public wanted to know, setting some facts straight. The show was very touching, to me. Tears rolled down my face as she sang the song she sings to her son.
The Osmond's may have had an unperfect life, but in my eyes, there do EVERYTHING with class. And I have no doubt in my mind , she did NOT do the Oprah show to better her career.

Nanny .....I think YOU saw the same Marie Osmond I saw.......and I agree, she has handled her life with much poise, grace and laughter.

Couldn't watch that performance without tears in my eyes either. Did it discuss what drove her son to suicide? Was it drugs? I vaguely remember when it happened but not the whole story. Suicide is a horrible tragic thing for any family or friend to go through. So much more painful then a death to accident or illness, IMO.

I wouldn't doubt an Oprah appearance would help further her and Donny's career. What's wrong with that? It's her livelihood. The public has questions and it may be her way to set the record straight and share the good points of her son's life etc, in her way, not on Access Hollywood or TMZ.

And since we're here, I think her lip looks awful. She is a beautiful woman and doesn't need that fake stuff. How old is she? She looks great and much younger then she probably is!

lavon, I couldn't agree with you more.

teresa, her son had a drug problem in the past but they found no drugs in his system at the time of his death. I believe he was just depressed and it took over. She said a month before, he'd talked about being the happiest he'd ever been.

Just glad to see there is compassion on this site,
    after all.

She is a marvelous person, without a doubt. No one should have to go through what she did. The family is so close, and she was so close to her dad, as well.

When the clips were shown of their Vegas act, she did look so much better with her natural lips. But she's a class act regardless.

Depression is a horrible disease. Way up on top of the world one minute and down in the deepest dark the next.

I was in tears through most of the show. She certainly has suffered some hard times. I hope she finds happiness sometime in the future. Not to say she doesn't have happy moments now. I think she was just trying to close the book on all the questions surrounding her son's suicide so she could move on.

There is a lot of compassion on this site, more than any site I have visited. I did not know about the tragedy she had in her life. Seems she has dealt with it. No harm in saying you liked her former look better. If doing what she did makes her feel better good for her.

I didn't watch it but am sad for her loss...
Don't keep up with info about her, I did buy one of those
Marie Osmond dolls years ago and still have it displayed.
    (Ann Marie holiday).
Dolls are what I think of when I hear her name nowadays...

So glad we all meet with your approval, Molly.

    LOL at Lynn!

Change of heart, ladies? LOL at Jasdip.

I feel for Marie Osmond and my heart goes out to her ....it is a tragedy to lose a son...my question is how many children did she have and how many are adopted? I am curious. As for her lips...they are awful...I don't care for Lynne Rimma's lips either..she lied at first...what a shame....why do they want big lips? Meg Ryan also did something to her lips. Yuck! I like Jamie Lee Curtis..she is a natural.

I saw some of this on the news. So sad. She is a classy lady who has lived so much of her life in the public eye. I did not know she was divorced, twice divorced, or an abused wife. My heart goes out to anyone in that situation and breaks for a mom whose son committed suicide. She is a real beauty, and I think it is a real shame that she had her upper lip done. It looks so very odd when she turns her face at any angle.

This week I spotted Cher on David Letterman. Now that woman has ruined her looks with too much plastic surgery. Nothing moves right. I wish someone would talk to these beautiful stars and tell them that they don't need poofy lips or huge chests. They are turning themselves into freaks. I loved how cute Melanie Griffith was, and she too has gone too far with plastic surgery.

I never, ever, watch Oprah, but recorded this one because I love Marie Osmond. I was glued to the television, and cried all the way through it. I didn't even notice anything about her lips, though.

I guess some of these women are chasing eternal youth. Sad.
As for Marie & Donny trying to rev up their careers, I didn't know they had to. Weren't the recently headlining in Las Vegas or Reno or one of those gambling towns. I have always thought the Osmond's were all classy.

Life is messy, for most people. Very few people make it through this life unscathed by tragedy or pain. I don't pity Marie, I admire her quite a bit. So her lip looks dumb - and she's insecure due to her line of business most likely. Besides that, she's getting out of bed in the morning. That's more than I could do if my child took his life. Her faith is inspiring - knowing she'll see him again.

    What an amazingly beautiful song.

she was expressing her grief about her son. yes, we all saw her lip. but most of us compassionate people here overlooked that.
I was stunned at her song. just beautiful.

There was a special on awhile back about thier life, they said Donny was in bad shape when he and Marie split as a duo on tv nobody wanted to see them again,So Donny tried on his own and nobody wanted him .Said he took it really hard.

I had the show on but I was on the phone and I wasn't paying attention to what Marie was saying. I did notice her lips and could not take my focus away from them. Her lips were distracting. The reason they look so odd is that your upper lip is smaller than your lower lip by about 2/3's. Her upper lip was much larger than the lower and it throws her face off.
Her story is very tragic but everyday people have tragic lives too. She just happens to be in the public eye.

I feel I know why she had her upper lip done... she didn't have much of one. When she was younger you could barely see it when she smiled. Then, she would use lip liner to make her upper lip seem larger. Finally came the injections.
I think that her lip looks stiff and it is obvious, but I feel it fits her face and her smile. She is lovely inside and out.
