You may recall I posted yesterday about asking for good thoughts for my Daughter-in0law who was hospitalized with a stroke. Well, my son just called and its not a stroke but a brain tumor. That is all he knew at this time. Not weather it is malignant or not or what the treatment will be. She is not in any pain, thanks to meds. Please keep your thoughts and prayers heading her way and I;ll keep our KT family updated as I get the info. Dottie

Unfortunately I know about brain tumors. What a shock for you all.

I've done acrylic, gels, solar and just plain manis. My nails grow fast and sometimes they get really peely, other times they're nice and strong. For the last year and a half I've gone bare nailed and keep them relatively long-just over a 1/4 inch. When one breaks, I file it and let it go-then I will keep on top of the others so they don't get too long and eventually they all get to the same length again. Nails are just like hair-they're dead-they grow from the root so the key is to keep the nail bed hydrated and keep cuticles in shape. I apply cream to my cuticles daily and that helps a lot. And I keep a nail file with me at all times. The slightest snag inevitably leads me to picking at my nails and usually tearing them if I don't file that snag. I prefer to paint my own nails, and I've found quality polish is best. I can't keep them from chipping more than a couple days, but then I'll touch up the chips and I can make a mani last about a week. I do love the look of the long, uniform fake nails, and I used to get really fun french tips-usually turqusise glitter, but the time commitment was getting to me so I quit. My biggest complaint with getting a mani is that they rush the polish process. I have found if I wait at least 30 mins between coats I get good adhesion and the polish lasts longer. And SUPER clean nails is imperative, the slightest bit of oil on the nail bed will cause polish to chip faster too.

I dislike commercials in general as a nuisance. But a few stand out. Recently, the ones from big companies such as Amazon and Frito Lay who buy ad space just to tell everyone about the great things they are doing and how much money they have invested in feel good projects annoy me the most. The insurance one with the homeowners association busybody grated my nerves, only because i know people like that, and dislike them intensely. I hate the very idea of homeowners associations. I know its meant to be funny, but its not to me. The abused animal ones make me want to physically hurt people, so i don't like those either. Not good for my overall well being to want to hurt people. Any ad for things like the Mirror or the other one, i cant remember the name. Oh, Tonal. Only because i feel like the products themselves are so dumb. Just stream a workout to your TV! And why is it after every workout some kid comes running up and jumping into their arms?

Thanks for the update. She continues to be in my prayers. I know what a scary time this is for all of you. I had a brain tumor 10 years ago. Mine (unknowingly) lived silently for many years and then it decided to make itself known in a matter of days.

Please let her know she has many prayers and healing wishes sent her way.

I know she would LOVE a card shower. I don't know how it is done. Do I post her address, the hospital address or mine?
I wish you all could know her personally. She is the best thing that ever happened to my son!! She loves the KT family. Thank you for the good thoughts and prayers. Dottie

Dotmom, I think the best way for a card shower is for someone to head it up --you send them the address and everybody e-mails that person, who sends them the addy. I'll e-mail you and you can send me her addy and I'll get a card off to her tomorrow. You could e-mail people directly, or I'd take care of it for you if they'd e-mail me. You might need something to occupy your time and might want to do the e-mails yourself. I'll do whatever I can to help you.

Dotmom - don't 'post' any personal details. Folk could email you privately for the right name and postal details through your member's page. The hospital details could also be offered at the same time. Maybe you could check with family to see which is easier for them and how long she may be in hospital.
I too would love to send her a get well card.
Let us know which is preferred.

Guess I'm not thinking straight, today. Of course I shouldn't post personal info. DH had cataract surgery this morning and he is NOT the best patient!! LOL. My email is adkile@emily.net. I'll get a hold of my son and see where they want the cards sent. Thanks, friends, Dottie
