Well...good luck.
My realtor sent me a copiy of every looker's remarks after a showing. It let me see what buyers were seeing, and led me to make some extra changes along the way. Sure helps.

And...sometimes the first one is the charm :).

You're right...those reports are helpful. Our last house we sold...lookers kept saying "eewww...the bathroom is pink!"..lol But we still sold it!

What's wrong with pink? When we went house hunting in 1981, we viewed a house with three pink rooms-the kitchen, the bathroom and a bedroom. They even had a pink wall phone in the kitchen! We bought it and we love our home!! The bathroom has been re-modeled and is now blue!

The house i'm living in now had a bubblegum pink bathroom....tub and tile ... with pink flowered wallpaper.
I also said eww.
The bathroom was completely re-done....before I moved in. Tub and ceramic tile were reglazed Kohlar white, white fixtures and new vanity installed(old had pink top), new brushed chrome plumbing fixtures, new floor..and now has deep green painted walls.

The most common complaint I got with my house was the kitchen...no granite countertop and no stainless appliances.

SamKaren, how'd it go or do you know yet? Sure would be a blessing if you could get a fast sale.

This is just MHO, but I don't think I'd like stainless steel appliances. I remember when harvest gold and brown were THE color. I feel the same about SS. But, I'd love granite or silestone countertops.

Anyway, let us know how you made out. (Crossing fingers!!)

Well unfortunately that was a bust. DH had the house all cleaned and ready and our realtor called and said they cancelled. She said the lookers want at least 3 acres. Oh well...I'm still hopeful.

Patti.....we had Avocado green in our kitchen. Appliances and my dad had our metal cabinets spray painted. I also hate the stainless steel. It looks so sterile. Personally I think black appliances are nice looking. We have a white refrigerator and black stove/oven. Also have formica counter tops but they are in great shape.

We watch the home shows and its amazing how many buyers turn their noses if the house doesn't have granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and the big master bath suite.

Also...what is the deal with having the big bedroom closets in the bathroom?

I always thought I wanted a big master bath until I had to clean it. I love my little bathrooms!

I often like the look of the stainless steel appliances, but hubs and I agree that we don't want them. Don't want a stainless steel sink, either.

And, we'd much prefer countertops made from recycled glass (see Vetrazzo and Icestone).

I'm not sure what you mean by this... do you mean that folks do, or don't, like master closets that are entered through the bathroom?

Until this house, we've always had houses that had a closet that you entered through the bedroom. But, in this house, you go from the master bedroom into the master bathroom, and then there's a door into a huge walk-in closet. There's one distinct advantage to having it that way. For many couples (and this holds true for hubs and me), one has to get up and get ready before the other. I can get up, go into the bathroom and close the door, and he remains asleep and undisturbed. I can go back and forth into/out of the closet without bothering him. If the closet door was in the bedroom, I'd be going in and out of the bedroom, disturbing hubs.

On these shows there is no closet in the bedrooms....it's in the bathroom. Strangest thing if you ask me.

My last house had 2 w/i closets in the bathroom and I loved it. Much better than having them in the bedroom.

My bathroom is off my bedroom, and a big walk in closet off the bathroom. I love it. I can shower, dress, and do my make-up and dry/style my hair all in the same area.
