I get surveys from them a few to several times a month.
I've been sent toilet paper to test and then fill a survey, detergent to test and then fill out a survey, and have been sent spray cleaner to test and then fill out a survey.
They are a legitimate survey site. You get points for the surveys you answer online, and then as your points build up you can earn prizes or cash in your points for cash. I always wait until I have emough points to cash out $20. And one time I used my points to get a insulated 9"x11" casserole holder.
I have earned probably $200-300 over the last couple years, and I also have one time won the monthly drawing for $100.
Oh yeah, also right now, for the past 8 months, they send me a pre-paid envelope and I sent them any credit-card offers I get in the mail (with my personal info cut off the mail) and I earn a $2 bill each month I sent it in. It's only $2, but who cares, all I'm doing is holding on to the offers and sticking them in an envelope at the end of the month. That will last a year.

I make hundreds of dollars each year doing surveys. The one that pays the most is Global Test Market. I cash in my points when I get 1000, and they send me a check for $50! It takes me a couple months to get 1000 points, depending on the surveys I complete. Some I "screen out" after a few questions.

Most of the online survey companies let you choose a "prize" or a gift card instead of cash. Some deposit a buck or two into a Paypal account. I currently have over $50 in Paypal from doing surveys.

I've also tested lots of products. Right now I'm testing a face lotion, and a couple weeks ago I got a box of chicken-flavored veggie burgers. I'm going to be testing soap in a couple weeks. Some of the product tests award you extra points, some send you cash, and some you just get to test the product.

I do quite a few surveys for NFO, usually for about 10 points per survey. You need 1000 points to get cash or a prize.

Most of the Epoll surveys are about TV shows or movies. Surveys are usually worth 500 points, and some are only a few questions. But you need 3500 points to get a $5 gift card. Once in a while Epoll will send me a DVD/CD with a video of a new TV show on it, worth a lot of points for watching and doing a survey about it. I've found those to be fun.

Zoompanel sends me quite a few surveys each month. Some of them I "screen out" early and don't get points. They're usually about new products (food, pet products, cleaning products), so they are interesting if it's a product that isn't on the market yet. It takes a while to build up points, and points are redeemed for products (appliances, CDs).

A few comments:

Use the same password for all of them. Otherwise you'll go crazy trying to remember which password goes with which survey site.

Most surveys will ask for your income. I've found that if you respond with "prefer not to answer" you may get screened out. I usually pick an income group near the middle. They have no way of knowing if you're telling the truth.

Same thing with your age--they always ask. I always tell the truth, and sometimes I get screened out. No biggie.

Some surveys that just enter you in a contest are way too long to be worth it. If I don't finish the survey in a few minutes, or if it's too tedious, I just leave it. I've never won anything on any survey site; millions and millions of people fill these things out. There's no way I'm wasting 30 minutes of time for a slim chance at a $10 prize. JMHO

I belong to an organization in Pittsburgh and will get calls from them..Normally I have to go and sit in, either listen to someone or view a video...It pays really good money, especially if it's medical/drug related....One of the 1st ones I viewed was an ad for a current product and at that time I really thought it was a spoof, I thought it was, in my words, stupid....Well, after alot of editing, sure enough the ad was on TV....

Interesting to see that there are some legit ones out there. I have spare time in the winter and might like to try a couple of them.

Have you ever gotten any spam or junk emails that you think have come from those sites?

Sue, although there's no way to tell for sure, I don't think I've received any spam or junk email from online survey sites. They all have privacy policies, and they all claim to never sell your email address to anybody else. I'm sure if they did, they would have a hard time getting people to do surveys.

I've been doing surveys with some of these companies for many years. I've never seen my amount of spam spike up after joining a new one. I use the same email address for surveys that I do for all my personal email, which is automatically downloaded to my computer when I open my mail program. If you're still worried about getting spam, use a separate email address and just check it online, rather than downloading it to your hard drive.

I used to do Mystery Shopping/movie ticket counting, etc. for a company. It was fun, made me a little $ and it was interesting to see what they'd have me do next! The main problem was the fact that it took them so long to send me a W-2 form. We'd be ready to file income taxes and would be having to wait on one from somebody for $100, or some crap.

Have you guys that do these surveys found that to be a problem?

I did a few but with dial up the pages load so slow that I finally gave up. Have tested paper towels and cereal before I quit. I would have continued if my computer was faster.

I tried Paid Surveys but it was too much work. They have a 30 day money back trial.

donna37--You're right about some of them being slow. Just like a lot of web sites, as the dial-up and DSL speeds get faster, and web page design gets more complicated and flashy, the online survey sites go from being simple "click on a radio button" to pages with lots of unnecessary logos and photos. Some of them also include videos.

I definitely do more surveys since getting DSL. Doing them with dial-up would not be worth it.

organic_donna--Yes, they can be a lot of work! That's why I don't finish the long ones that just enter my name in a sweepstakes. Even though I don't work outside the home, my time is still worth something. I'm curious though, why you said they have a money back trial.? Did you pay to do surveys? That doesn't sound right.

I paid $34.00 for a trial period to paidsurveysetc. The phone number was 208-345-4245. You first had to register with hundreds of survey companies which is what took so much time. Then they e-mailed you the actual survey. I created a different hotmail account. I also filled out roboforms which helps fill out personal info. I haven't looked, I bet I have thousands of surveys still waiting. After about two weeks I got tired of it and I gave up.

Yikes Donna! I never heard of such a thing! I've never paid a cent to fill out surveys--they pay me. I'm guessing that paidsurveysetc is just a clearinghouse of sorts. Do you think they charge a fee and then send you the same surveys that you could do for free on your own?

I wonder if that's what prompted mellbee to post this question in the first place. Perhaps she/he was wondering about a company that charges you a fee for the "chance" to make a couple bucks doing surveys.

I think if you have the time and patience it might be a good thing to do. I am busy with a remodeling project so I gave up. They refunded my money without any delay.
