I have used it for smell for a few years now. It was a tip I read on the internet. My son came and stayed 4 days lighting one cig off the other almost. I put a couple of bowls of vinegar in the office and two in the living area, worked like a charm.

IMO. White vinegar is the best, cheapest(and safest) odor absorbent in the world.

My daughter used that remedy last winter after their basement got flooded. It helped with the musty smell that permeated the room, she was amazed. Good thing to keep on hand.

I think I'll spray it on my porch. We still have the outdoor cat and even though she's been spayed the male cats come around (to try to steal her food)and mark the area...I hate cat smell.But there are a few snow flakes in our area...so I guess I'll have to wait awhile.

I always use vinegar in my laundry when something is very smelly. Especially smoke from a campfire or way back in my smoking days. Fill a Downy Ball and toss it in the washer. Don't need fabric softener that way either. And no, your clothes don't smell like vinegar.

My sister had trouble with the cats tracking across the freshly washed kitchen floor and sometimes licking at it. I told her to use a vinegar/water solution as it's a great cleaner and cats usually don't like the smell. They won't go near it until it's dry and once it dries, the vinegar smell is gone.

Vinegar is often used in places with fires to absorb odor, as is vanilla but vinegar is far cheaper.

Vinegar is a useful item to have around. Salt, vinegar and baking soda clean a drain out quite nicely.

I love the drain cleaning tip. I had a musty smell coming from my garbage disposal drain. After cleaning it several time with soda and vinegar the smell went away.

Be careful of the 1001 uses if it suggests ingesting it, that can cause health problems. My sister told Mom to put a little in her drinking water and that was a real mistake. Mom was fighting congestive heart failure and vinegar makes you retain fluids. When the doctor told her to stop drinking it her swelling stopped completely.

Well I tried this last night and it really works! I love to cook salmon but it leaves my kitchen so stinky. So before I went to bed, I put a bowl of vinegar on the counter and this morning.... no salmon smell!!
