Oven won't lite unless stove top burner turned on
Comments (1)Get the part number of the ignitor for the oven and replace it. That is almost certainly your problem. I think the burner state is serendipitous, possibly an artifact of a weak ignitor. Replace the ignitor first; it is the prime suspect in a lazy lighting oven....See MoreGas Fireplace won't light
Comments (36)I have had the same problem. I took the logs off and found that there was a ball of black carbon about the size of a marble at the end of an appendage coming from the main burner. . I vacuumed that off and cleaned all of the unit. Re lit the pilot and then turned it on. It worked for about 5 minutes and then shut off. I took it apart again and cleaned it off again and this time some rust and a small piece came off of the burner appendage. It looks like about a 2 inch piece with a hollow center coming off the center of the burner itself. Is there a way to fix this? Comments (2)Mostly likely weak power pile generator or misaligned pilot because by jumping the TH's your bypassing the stat, controls, aquastat and wiring, giving it a shorter circuit to complete. That's just enough to get it to fire and the burner is assisting the pilot to generate enough power to keep gas valve open....See MoreGas valve and circulator pump won't start up
Comments (8)After fixing a leaking pipe when I originally started up my boiler, I tried all the methods described above to bleed all the air out of my system hoping the circulator pump would start pumping, but it didn't. So I decided to call a local heating and cooling company IÂve used before and got a service tech out the same day. The Service guy performed some tests and found that the circulator pump seized up and the gas valve that wouldnÂt stay on after lighting the pilot was also bad. He told me that after parts and installation, plus the $89 call fee the cost was going to be $750. So I decided to buy the parts from him that he had in his truck and install them myself. He explained how to best install both units which looked pretty simple. I saved $320 and everything works fine. With all these items being replaced I failed to ask why there was always a light smell of gas when the manual gas valve was open whether or not the pilot was lit. I used soapy water to check all the fittings for leaks and didn't find any. I did smell the regulator that looks like it was installed when the boiler was installed some 30 years ago and found it to have quite the gas smell. Could the regulator be the cause of the gas smell? If so, where could a decently priced one be found? Is there an online source for these types of parts? Thanks,...See Morearlinek
