Taco soup recipe

We never eat Mexican food, don't like the smell, but last week I tasted some Taco soup and it was wonderful. Does anyone have a good easy recipe that isn't hot? Thanks

I think this was Haley's Recipe...not sure.Anyway...it's good! And I don't like much Mexican food either.I did put more tomatoes in then it calls for...we like things tomatoey...

TACO SOUP
1-2 lbs. lean ground beef
1 small onion, chopped
1 (4-oz) can chopped green chiles
1 package taco seasoning mix
1 package ranch dressing mix
1 can corn, undrained
3 cans stewed tomatoes
1 can kidney beans, undrained
1 can pinto beans, undrained
1 1/2 C water
Brown meat with chopped onion; drain; add remaining ingredients and simmer at least 30 minutes; longer if desired. Great served with shredded cheese and cornbread or Mexican chips

I agree with Deanna on the menu. I would use a mixture of the bowls you have rather than styrofoam. If you want to have something sweet sitting out, try the Peppermint Bark Popcorn (link below). This is similar to most Taco Soup recipes: Santa Fe Soup 2 lbs ground beef or turkey 1 onion, chopped 2 small pkgs. Ranch style dressing mix 2 small pkgs. taco seasoning mix 1 16 oz. can black beans, undrained 1 16 oz. can kidney beans, undrained 1 16 oz. can pinto beans, undrained 1 16 oz. can diced tomatoes w/chiles, undrained 1 16 oz. can tomato wedges, undrained 2 16 oz. cans white corn, undrained 2 cups water (or less if you want it thicker) Garnishes: Sour cream shredded cheddar cheese sliced green onions Cook meat and onion together until meat is browned. Stir ranch dressing mix and taco seasoning mix into meat. Add all beans, tomatoes, and corn with juices from all. Add water. Simmer for 2 hours. If mixture is too thick, add water. Garnish with sour cream, cheese, and onions, if desired. Good with tortilla chips. Notes: 1. I use 1 lb of ground turkey and 1 lb of ground beef. 2. I only use 2 cans of beans - any 2 of the 3 listed is fine, but I usually use red beans and black beans. Also I prefer small red beans instead of kidney beans. 3. If you like spicier dishes, use Rotel. I prefer Mexican stewed tomatoes. 4. I can no longer find canned tomato wedges. Canned diced tomatoes seem to work just fine. 5. Freezes well. Here is one I found that doesn't have beans, but it doesn't have rice, either! LOL Easy enough to toss some in! Quick Taco Soup Soup Ingredients: 1/2 pound extra lean ground beef 2 medium (1 cup) onions, chopped 1 large (1 cup) green bell pepper, chopped 1 (1.25-ounce) package taco seasoning mix 1 (46-ounce) bottle vegetable tomato juice 1 (16-ounce) jar thick and chunky salsa or picante sauce Toppings Ingredients: Fat Free Sour Cream, if desired Shredded lettuce, if desired Sliced green onions, if desired Chopped tomato, if desired Reduced Fat Cheddar Cheese, shredded, if desired Cook ground beef, onions and green pepper in 4-quart saucepan over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally, until beef is no longer pink (6 to 10 minutes). Drain off fat. Stir in seasoning mix; continue cooking 1 minute. Stir in tomato juice and salsa. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until heated through (3 to 5 minutes). To serve, ladle soup into individual bowls; dollop with sour cream, if desired. Top with shredded lettuce, sliced green onions, chopped tomato or cheese, if desired. RECIPE: Wanted: Broccoli soup recipe(no canned soups added)

CREAM OF BROCCOLI SOUP (serves 2) 1 medium head broccoli 1 medium potato, thinly sliced 2 TBL butter 1/2 medium onion, coarsely chopped 2 TBL flour 1 cup warm chicken broth 1 cup warm milk 1/4 cup warm heavy cream Salt & pepper to taste 1 tsp dried basil Cook the broccoli & potatoes in salted water until tender. Set aside 4 flowerets of broccoli for garnish. Heat the butter ina saucepan & add the onion. Cook stirring until the onion is transparent, but not brown. Add the flour & cook, stirring until smooth. Place the remaining broccoli & potatoes in a processor or blender & puree the vegetables. Gradually add the broth & milk. Add the cream a little at a time until the soup is of the right consistency. Return the soup to the saucepan. Add pepper, salt & basil & reheat. Garnish each bowl w/the reserved flowerets of broccoli & serve.~~Simply Superb

Here is the Taco Soup recipe that a KTer posted a couple years ago; sorry I don't remember who it was. Almost the same as WW. TACO SOUP 1-2 lbs. lean ground beef 1 small onion, chopped 1 (4-oz) can chopped green chilies 1 package taco seasoning mix 1 package ranch dressing mix 1 can corn, undrained 3 cans stewed tomatoes 1 can kidney beans, undrained 1 can pinto beans, undrained 1Â½ C water Brown meat with chopped onion; drain; add remaining ingredients and simmer at least 30 minutes; longer if desired. Great served with shredded cheese and cornbread or Mexican chips. (I only use Â½ can of chilies.) Makes a lot, so I freeze 1 serving sizes. Sue

Here's an easy, yummy low fat one from Weight watchers. We love this one......

Low point Taco soup
3 points for the whole pot!

3 cans fat free chicken broth
1 can stagg ranchero chili 98% fat free
1 can black beans
1 can Mexican style crushed tomatos
2 tbls. taco seasoning
1/2 diced onion ( or to taste)

Combine all in large soup pot and heat until thoroughly heated.

Last Winter I made the Taco Soup that CR posted (Haley's?) and it was so good! Can't wait to make it again. I only used half a can of chilis. That was hot enough for me.

Copied this from Cooking or RE forum, and plan to make really soon.
No taco soup, but sounds delicious!

Brie with Green Chili Soup

1 c Chopped onions
Â½ c Chopped celery
4 tb Butter
2 tb Flour
1 cn (16-oz) chicken broth
1 ct (16-oz) Half-and-Half (milk is okay too)
Â½ lb Brie
2 cn (4-oz) chopped green chiles (or preferably fresh roasted chiles)
Salt and pepper to taste

Saute onions, celery in butter for 5 minutes. Wisk in flour. Then add in half-and-half and broth. Stir throughly. Add brie to soup in small pieces. Stir until brie is melted (about 10 minutes). Add green chiles, simmer for another 2 minutes and serve

Do you think I could substitute maybe a can of tomato paste for the stewed tomatoes? We really don't like cooked tomatoes (fresh from the garden..YUM!)
