Snowing in phia burbs !

Looks more like Christmas than Thanksgiving.

I've lived in this area all my life, attend or watched the Phila TG parade every year...and I have NEVER seen snow on Thanksgiving.

And we'll be wearing shorts today---lol. Supposed to cool down this weekend, tho.

We got snow on Sunday, and it's still here! We've
had snow in November before, just not very often. We
are driving to my brother's home in Seattle, about 1 hr. 15, 20 minutes away (if no traffic lol). And it is snowing pretty good up there now. I like snow! I have no problem driving in it. But we have ICE underneath it
and with all the hills, it's not so fun! lol

Here we go yet again... mild and rain with a high of 53 Friday in NYC. Can you believe it Alex. I am not complaining and the palms are doing well. We got about 1.5 snow Saturday which was all melted by Monday. This is a southern-style winter so far. Islandbreeze, your low of 11 is not bad for your zone and you're having a break this winter as well. The cold air in the mid west sometimes moves northeastward and sometimes the core of cold air slides back into Canada over the Great Lakes before reaching coastal New York City. So we do see some of the cold but often miss the bitter cold part. When I see temps in Pittsburg, PA for example in the teens during a cold snap, its usually moderated to the 20s by the time we see it the next day. Wetsuiter, smart idea to experiment with palm seedlings. NJ, you got the most snow on Saturday it sounds like.

Hi Everyone!!! Jessyf...did you get my phone msg or my email??? BTW, we're expecting more snow on Monday, Feb 15!! Light accumulation...but that's what they said when this latest storm was in the making! We've had more small power outtages...but the bigger issue for a few days were the phones and our T1 line. Thank goodness the sat dish was only out for a few hours during all this time! I guess the phone lines and T1 line are two separate wires, but it's weird how one will be out and the other will be on, then vice versa, when they're coming from the same physical box. I don't understand it. But, for now, we have all of our "conveniences" on at the same time...so we're happy! I just went outside to see how the snow drifted overnight. Wow! I feel like we live in Buffalo! At some point, though, bless his heart, our plow guy came through and got our street. So, if I can get him to put us on the list for our "too long to do by shovel" driveway...maybe we can get outta here in a few days!! I made DH leave town the day before the first snow hit because he was going to the Super Bowl to watch his Saints. Then he had to go straight to NYC. He missed all the "fun" here, but did get hit with snow in NYC. But he didn't have to do the shoveling there! LOL! He's now on a train on his way to DC. Let's just hope he can get from DC to home! Won't be easy!!

We're just west of D.C., and the forecast is for about one inch of snow. That's OK, but any more than that is too much. This winter has been wonderful, weather-wise, and I hope our luck doesn't run out! If you run out of housework, you're welcome to come out here! I've been so busy quilting lately that my house seriously needs cleaning....

I recently got one with a bend in the handle & like it. You can't flip snow off like a regular one, but it's generally easier on the back. Get a regular one too. Plastic edge is ok. Metal edge can chip a bit of ice, but it's not a big deal. If you need to chip ice, get a small metal shovel with a handle & steel blade, not a snow shovel. Always have at least 2 snow shovels. You never know who might offer to help or who you may want to help. As a final note, take a break if your back starts to tighten up. A heating pad & toddy are your friend. Did anyone mention lift with your legs, not your back. A little easier said than done, but something to shoot for. I just moved the snow thrower to the front of the garage. I'm all set for snow now.

Supposed to get down to 16F tonight. Some precip late afternoon. Just 'grey' right now. We only have to drive about 20 mins. south on the Edens expressway to our DIL's parents' home for an early dinner. Small group. Just bringing flowers and a corn pudding.

Snow still here in ND around 7 above with wind chill. Glad DD is doing TG as she lives on the other part of the duplex.

It's 40 and rainy here on Long Island. No chance for snow.

lynn...still not good, but did manage to make Thanksgiving dinner with a lot of help.

Well Kat will be driving back home in quickly melting snow..I can't believe we added a few inches overnight/this morning..and it plus the other 4 are very well nearly gone in most places..it warmed up quick!

Been raining since last night, all day today, now raining hard again. Flood warnings out everywhere, as we drove to my brother's for Thanksgiving dinner at noon the road ditches and creeks were already nearly overflowing. The weatherman said it will turn to snow overnight but not much accumulation.

Not only did I eat too much today, I got what I think is a sinus cold coming on and I'm sooo sleepy. Might go to bed early tonight and get under the warm comforter.

We've waddled home now. I shouldn't have had that cup of 'decaf', so here I am while DH has turned in!

Delicious dinner but too much of everything: Turkey, bread stuffing, gravy, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, corn pudding, green bean caserole (no, not the old fried onion thing), cranberry-tangerine relish, rolls. The dishes just kept circling the table! Really rich and buttery pumpkin cake and/or chocolate silk pie for dessert. Very nice to travel less than half an hour, almost entirely on a free-flowing expressway. Lovely to share time with DS, DIL (6 mos. PG), DGS and extended family.
