My Friday Morning.

Got up around 5, poor dog was up-chucking. Too much turkey scraps. Let her outside for some air, and to do her business, she came in fine about 10 minutes later. Had a glass of orange juice, stayed up, made coffee, read the paper. Did a final clean up of the kitchen, put away yesterdays pots. Thought about those poor souls out shopping. No urge to join them. Made lunch-turkey, cranberry sauce,and lettuce on white bread. MMMM-mmm. I have to get some groceries today, plus I have two coupons for free iced coffee at Dunkin donuts. Will treat DH. Tonight I'm making Sweet Potato Bisque soup out of leftovers. And how is your day going ?

Happy to hear you had a nice day yesterday and that you're relaxing today instead of shopping!
I had a tooth extracted this morning so I'm on soup and oatmeal today. A turkey sandwich sounds much nicer! Enjoy!

*Is it just a big coincidence* Probably. I'd check the gas cap for starters. I've heard a number of people say that their lights came on simply because it wasn't on tight enough. You might tell the guys that changed the oil your story and see if they'd take a quick look to see if they did knock a wire or hose off. Good luck.

I'm waiting to see if I need to drive over to the nursing home today to sit with my friend. The temp is 13 and it's snowing lightly for now. Suppose to get 3" by 7pm. tonight. I really don't want to go out and feel very guilty about not wishing to sit with my friend. Her man friend is bringing her down this way to an eye appt. and suggested that I drive her back to the home (40min. away - about an hour for me since I drive SLOW on roads like these). I'm not feeling good about doing that, but don't know how to say no. He's going to call later and let me know just how the roads are for sure. I gotta make up my mind what to tell him. Go or stay home. Ugh. Of course if I say no that means he has to drive her all the way back and he can't stay all day after sitting with her all night last night!

Talk to a realtor to get details on your market, but where I live it is generally better to finish what you can rather than leaving unfinished projects. (Note that "unfinished" is different from "not updated" though---okay to leave older kitchens/baths/etc., but not okay to leave open walls or primed but not painted rooms, etc.) "Unfinished" homes are typically seen as desperation sales or are bank-owned, so people really low-ball their offers. (That, and you never know exactly what it will cost to finish!) Winter is also a really tough time to sell in a lot of markets, so there would be pros to waiting until summer regardless---especially if that's when the house is at its strongest. I would talk to a realtor and then map out a plan for the next six months to wrap up the unfinished work. If the baths work but are just old, you can leave those; ditto for the fence. Focus on fixing things that are truly unfinished or not functional. You could potentially finish the T&G floors, too, which can look beautiful and would likely be less costly than new flooring. If you don't *have* to sell, I'd figure out when the best time for showing the house is, and try to go on the market around then, even if it means waiting a year. If you're in the 'burbs, is it an area where families tend to move for the schools? If so, maybe check the school calendars to think about when people might be househunting with that in mind. A good realtor will know a bit about trends, and also can help sort out what's worth doing and what isn't as far as the work is concerned. I wouldn't rent the place out in its entirety if you're actively working on it---too complicated and a lot to ask of renters. But you could definitely rent out some rooms cheaply to friends to make the numbers work---I know people who've done that to pay for kitchen remodels, etc. Good luck!

I started my Spring cleaning by sweeping all the floors, running a damp mop over them, then wiping down all the woodwork. Well, I skipped the baseboards as I was getting tired. Swept the rug in the bedroom and finally cleaned the fancy carving on the headboard of the bed. It was so dusty and that dust can get caked into all those little crevices. I even used a Q-tip on some areas! Likewise on the antique door. I even pulled up the old furnace floor registers and used the sweeper hose on them, replacing the screen in one that helps filter dust,ect. The piece in there had many a mysterious bits stuck to it and quite a few holes. The screen in the livingroom register had so much dirt and dust on it that I'm surprised any heat was getting through at all. Where does all the dust come from???

up, moved bathroom stuff in the shelves behind the mirror, where I cleaned yesterday evening. Ate breakfast, drove over to the other house. Took the bakers shelf unit apart. Rented a U-Haul truck for tomorrow. In between had a couple of conversations with daughter and friend about moving the hot tub today.

Unhooked the electric from the ht. Moved the furniture moving things out to it. Now, waiting for everyone to arrive.

Started my stock on simmer again.

Made the boys french toast.

Went to Walmart for "essentials"..quite easy to maneuver.

Home now making Hubby breakfast. Bacon and eggs.

On my second cup of coffee..cleaned the toilet, restocked the TP. LOL (main reason for going to Walmart!) lol

Have laundry on tap...and maybe put up the Christmas lights outside if the rain holds off.

That sandwich does sound good. I had some sleep to catch up on, so I didn't get up until after 8:00. Bought a couple more things online (including Blu-Ray "Batman Begins" for $4.99!), stocked up on firewood, filled the suet feeder, and put an 11-lb. turkey in the oven (for myself and my freezer).

Now I'm going to deal with the 50-lb. bag of black oil seed sitting in the back of my car. In order to get it into the house I'll have to separate it into three manageable bags.

I didn't get to sleep in like I had hoped :( Had phone calls from three of the kids and about the time I got to have breakfast, Amber and Cheryl arrived and wanted something to eat before they left to shop. We ate ham, desserts and hot tea. Cheryl brought me a 3 crock pot cooker and warmer unit. I think I am really going to like it for our dinners.

Norm and Kevin went shopping early and we now have another new garage door opener. Norm also got a new tool chest and some tools. They did bring back a sandwich for me from Arby's.

I have a cherry pie baking in the oven and some sandwich roll dough working in the bread machine, new recipe. Hope I like this one. Just doing dishes and watching five dogs.
There will probably be 6 of us for supper tonight.

Beautiful day here and nice and sunny.

I slept in this morning,, felt really good... When I got up, I got the dogs outside, cats fed, let the dogs back in and fed them... Took my coffee to the Sunroom and sat and read my Bible for about a half hour... then came in here to check on all my cyberfriends...
I then got some bread mixed up and rising, and english muffins rising too... I got them "griddled" and they smell yummy...

No shopping for me... there isn't anything out there that I need that badly... so it's a nice relaxing day in the kitchen doing some baking and playing with my food. Got the turkey carcass simmering on the back of the stove.. The house smells wonderful.

I think in a little while I will take the dogs out walking.. it is chilly, but sunny and a delightful day out here in the wild woods of Tennessee..

Most of you have way more energy than me today. I wanted to sleep in, but heard the dog get up early so I had to also. When she needs out, she has to go OUT.

Sat around watching TCM channel, took dog for a walk, came in and plopped down in front of the TV again. Watched "Strangers on a Train" and now "Dial M for Murder" is on. Had a couple pieces of pumpkin pie so far today and a tuna salad sandwich.

It is so cold outside today, sun sure fools a person.

Thought I was going to have a nice relaxing day off, cleaning up the rest of last nights pots and pans and putting away dishes, but it was not to be. Got a call at 7 that we were doing surgery at 9, then during that case had another case to do on a young girl with a ruptured appendix. Now waiting to here if another "victim" has a positive scan, and if so back to the OR.

Well, we have had lots of company. Our daughter has left with her DH and 2 sons as the 13 month old has a cold and had trouble sleeping here last night. Since the 4 of them shared her bedroom, that means that they are all sleep deprived.

Two DSs and one's girlfriend are still here. DS and his girlfriend will leave today some time. They live close to our DD an hour away. Then tomorrow, we take our youngest to the airport for his flight to the other coast.

The day before Thanksgiving, the hot water pipe in the house sprung a leak, so we have had to function mostly with cold water, turning the hot back on only for laundry, showers and cleaning up the kitchen, which took hours.

Then this morning, all that water under the slab apparently sent the ants into the house at the door to the dining room. I figure we have seen floods and locusts, but no famine yet!

Nevertheless, everyone declared this Thanksgiving the most delicious meal yet, which pleases me, my sister and the others who brought contributions to the groaning board.

Yum, your Sweet Potato Bisque soup sounds good!

This morning I cleaned up the kitchen, admired the decluttering of the laundry room that DH did over the holiday (he really did a lot, I was surprised!). Then I did my emailing and FB.

Then I started work, will work until 8:30 tonight.

We're actually having Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow as we were snowed in for traveling.
