Be careful. Two years ago we put up 50% for a cabinet order for our entire new home.(we were GC's) just about the time the cabinets were to be delivered guy went BK. lost lots...We did get a judgement against him, but that wsan't worth anything except a tax deduction. This was a local guy, had been in business 12 years.. supplied cabinets for many high end homes. I'm 100% convinced when he took our money, he never had any intention of full filling our order. scumbag.. We did get about 9k out of 100K of cabinets, but those were from another supplier. When we went to close THEY put a lein on our home, because he never paid them!! What a mess... RE: our flooring.. we also have about 3000 sf of hand scraped walnut, with that contractor we didn't have to give him any money until the materials were deliverd to our home. If your a reputible contractor, your supplier will give you 30 days.
