I ordered the soundtrack of Paint Your Wagon from Amazon two weeks ago. I haven't got it.

I checked the order status and apparently UPS left the package on my doorstep early last week.

There's been a lot of wind lately, strong enough to blow a lightweight package somewhere....

Lori who will call UPS later and found out how it was packaged the scour the neighborhood for her cd....'Got a dream boy? got a song? Paint your wagon and come along!'

They call the wind Mariah, you know. LOL

Good luck finding your package. Haven't thought about Paint Your Wagon in years.

Ah, the value of a comma. I know you didn't leave one out, Lori (the lyrics never included one), but without the comma after dream, I read "got a dream boy" as Got a Dream Boy. Hmmm....love those Dream Boys! :-)

Memo and Flower, These cabinets are mdf with an oak overlay. The end panels are wood laminate. Had they been real wood, I probably would have had to think long and hard about painting them. although I am not fond of wood tones. To me it is depressing. My previous house had 100% wood cabinets. But I planned from the beginning to have painted cabinets in that house. The house before that had 100% birch with an oak stain. Funny how my tastes have changed back and forth over the years. This is the 6th house I have owned. All had oak or oak stained cabinets with the exception of the one I designed in 1997. Nikki, that is the same picture you commented on before. What was rooting in the window was yellow angels trumpet and tomato cuttings. All are now potted and ready for the swap.

I decided to finally post to this thread even though we're about at the end of our ropes. We're nearly done with the house. Trim guys finished last week. All we really have left is some electrical work, plumbing fixture installation, final coat of paint and the exterior grading, then of course the huge punch list. Mostly though we're just frustrated at the lack of attention we've received from the builder and the constant barrage of shortcuts all the subs are trying to take because they want to be done with the project and the foreman isn't around. We talked with the foreman yesterday and he outright admitted that he has no idea what's going on at our house because he hasn't been there in so long. Every day it's my husband's job to see what's been done wrong and have it addressed. DH has basically been the foreman on this job, so obviously the foreman we're paying doesn't feel like he needs to be there. We're nearing the end and I'm just dreading the battle with them over the final draw on the house. We know they and their subs are going to try to soak us for more money to cover all their mistakes when they were THEIR mistakes, not ours. We feel like we should be getting a discount for doing their jobs for them and I'm sure they're going to try to soak us for every last penny and I'm dreading having this discussion. At this point we just want these people done and out of our house and out of our lives. Hopefully soon. Very, very soon.

cursivesailor my friend, you must be certifiably CRAZY! LOL. Actually, I've sometimes advised young couples thinking of getting married to first do a BIG project together where neither one of them is an expert and where they had no choice but to negotiate decisions in order to finish the project. Before we got married - we'll celebrate our 29th anniversary in 2 months - my DH and I decided to reupholster a heavy old sofa-bed we bought at a garage sale for $30 which would then become our first piece of real furniture. We took an upholstery class offered thru the adult ed center at a local college and the instructor guided us but even so, by the time we got that sofa recovered (less than a month before our wedding), I had learned more about DH than I had learned in the 7 years we had known each other. Among other things, about the 5th time I accidentally hammered the poor man's thumb and he didn't even cuss at me, I absolutely KNEW I had found a man who would never ever strike me no matter what the provocation. Seriously, we really learned to work as a team while working on that old sofa and we learned to negotiate our differences of opinion without attacking each other --- which has been a darn necessary skill to have during this #@@&+!~# house build! When the stress gets to you, do come here to this forum to blow it off rather than blowing up at your sweetie. I do wish you all the best and, when you're ready to kill your fiance, remember that if your relationship can survive building a house together, it'll survive whatever else life can ever throw at you! By the way, would you believe we still have that same sofa in our living room? The upholstery is getting a bit tattered so it is going to be relegated to the game room in our new home. Neither of us can quite bear to part with it but neither do we have any desire whatsoever to reupholster it again. LOL!

Son had a large wedding and reception but because it was in the afternoon, no dancing. But if we did have a song it would be Celine Dion's "Because You Loved Me." His small high school graduating class sang that to the parents then they gave the mom's a rose. Talk about crying! DIL knows what a close knit family we are and she loves how close I am to my son's. Now that she's a mother of a son she really understands the special bond between son and mother which is not like the old saying goes, "A son is a son until he takes a wife, a daugther is a daughter for the rest of her life." Heck, I still get onto my children! I'll always remember Barbara Bush speaking about Jr., "Just because he's the President doesn't mean he can put his feet on my coffee table!" lol

paint your wagon was such a dud when it came out...our friend was head of pr for the studio and couldn't give tickets away, lol....same for spartecus, and now both are considered classics...go figure...

When Paint Your Wagon came out, I was dating the cute boy next door. One of the characters in the movie was named Sylvester Newell. My boyfriend's last name was Newell. It felt like karma so I married him (over 34 years ago). :-)

My step-father looked just like Lee Marvin and constantly walked around the house singing "I was born under a wandering star" over and over again. If you heard his horrible voice, PYW would be burned into the trauma center of your brain for eternity too. LOL

I do remember what a dud the movie was! We saw it at a Century theater, a "high-end" theater that charged a fortune (~$4.50) and gave out special booklets made especially for the movie. I still have it, along with Romeo & Juliet, Funny Girl and Hello Dolly. I wonder what kind of collector's item those would be.

That is one of my favorite films, it was so quirky. Lee Marvin and Clint Eastwood - 2 of my favorites. Unexpected actors playing odd roles. Clint Eastwood singing "I talk to the trees" And Harve Presnell's voice!

OK now Susan - I'll always think of you and your Dream Boys when I listen to that song.

Sure hope you find your CD Lori. It's definitely a good one. I love that movie. We own it and watched it not long ago.
