Oh, hi! You're back! Do you mean these black clip rings?

Those are the ones! I meant to email you this morning, Susan. Will do that now....
:-)

I hope they're still available online. Looks like they might be. And no, I'm not taking your $20! :-)

But they AREN'T available!!! When you select black and click on "add to bag" or whatever it is, you get a message that they aren't available. When I called Penneys, they said they are discontinued.

Maybe these will work? Good luck!

I'm waiting for the store here to open. Will call them and check.
Donna

Try this Penny's Outlet. You would have to call them and see if they have the catalog number. It is a catalog return location so they may have some. Theya lso have overstocks and leftovers from the stores/catalog.

JCPenney Co Inc: Forest Park Outlet Store - www.jcp.com
5500 Frontage Rd, Forest Park - (404) 363-3855

If you can get them to hold a pair, maybe I can get my mom to go buy and pick them up and sent to you. She would LOVE an excuse to go to the Outlet store! LOL

DRATS!!! I called that outlet store the minute they opened and the lady in housewares said, "We wouldn't have anything like that." (I don't get the idea she physically walked over and looked OR put the number into a computer.) She said they don't get their items from overstocked or discontinued items for JCPenney. She said they get them from outside vendors. ???

Thanks anyway, Janie! NICE TRY!

*sigh* (still pouting in Oklahoma...)

Thanks, Donna!

Vicki, I looked on eBay and at other online stores, but I'm afraid of buying yet more clips that won't hold up the drapes. They are a lined thermal drape in a suede type finish, so they are rather heavy. The Penneys clips worked great, though - just need more for the additional panels!

Just for the heck of it, I tried putting them up without the clip things, but they are a PAIN to open and close that way. Plus I just don't think they look as good. I remember that before I actually saw and used the clips, I thought they seemed rather strange. But having them up and using them is WONDERFUL because we open and close these a lot. I am temporarily using just half of the panels until I find a resolution.

I am soooooooo hoping someone comes up with some!

How about these from Amazon? Also available on ebay. This was the first link that came up when I googled "1 1/2" clip rings black."

They look just like the ones at Penneys, at least in the photo.

The ones from JCP have a circular connection from the ring to the clip. The ones from Umbra have a hook connection, so they would look different, and I can see how a heavy drape might cause it to fail.

Would these from Pottery Barn work for you? They, too, have a circular connection between the ring and clip, and they come in black. Packs of 7 or 10.

I'm headed to Pennys at our mall in the morning-will gladly look for you & grab them if they have any! I Will check in mid afternoon, okay? Email me IF you find some in the meantime, if you don't mind. Sharon
BY THE WAY..is there a 'brand' name on the pkg-other than Pennys??

Oh geeze! I am almost positive those are the clips I use to hang curtains in my spare bedroom. I'd go check but I'm too cozy with my space heater here. LOL

Send me $20 and I will send you a can of black spray paint!!!

Sharon, that would be AWESOME! Thank you! I don't recall a brand name - I threw that part of the packaging away. *sigh* Sorry I'm a little slow checking in...I am getting ready to host an early Thanksgiving dinner for my family.

I've seen those Umbra ones but they are different. The ones from Pottery Barn look different, too. I can tell because of where the clip part connects to the ring. On most I've seen online (where there is enough detail), the little wire thing is open like shown below. On the ones from Penneys, the wire that attaches them is not open - it is wrapped around securely.

Sorry no luck in our store here :(
Donna

I called Hurst and Keller Texas stores, no luck either.

Trin

will check in the morning...hope they have them!!

Rita, I called our Penney's store in Omaha, and the gal said they have BLACK pole rings that are 1 3/8". The clips themselves are a brass color. The brand is Kirsch. Is that what your looking for?
Leslie

Rita,

Have you tried Bosovs website?? I saw some on there that may be o.k., but I am sorry, I don't know how to set up a link.
Good Luck!!
Rita

what about these, they come in black

sorry that should be Boscov's!!!

Check Big lots,i find a lot of JC Penneys stuff in their store,so you might get lucky.HTH
Kathi

Still have a houseful of company but snuck a moment to check in. Will look at the links later...THANKS!!

Nikki, the ones at that link look eerily similar to Martha Stewarts. *sigh* But thank you so much for the link!

ritamay, I had never heard of Boscovs but Googled it. They have some nice stuff! They also carry the Kirsh line (BTW, thank you for calling your local store, Leslie!!!), but those aren't the ones either.

kathi, our BigLots closed last year. I liked that store even though I rarely shop! They always had good buys!

I'm not like super picky and have to have matchy matchy or anything, nor am I so hung up on these that nothing else will do. It's just that I don't want a repeat of last night's experience - driving into town and buying $50 worth of clips that I now must drive back into town and return because they won't hold the drapes to the rod! If I do end up having to go with something completely different, it will probably be something I buy locally in case I do have to return it.

That can of spray paint is looking better all the time! LOL!

Here is a pack of JCPenney ones. Not sure about the size, the seller says they fit on a 1" rod...so these could be the one. Email the seller for the exact size and see if she has more packages if these are the right ones. Give her the extra $20. to sell them to you!

If you can't find enough, couldn't you just space them out further? I have a 32" window with just 7 holding my computer room curtain and it seems to work okay.

Dang, you're good, Lydia! :) I emailed the seller and explained what I was looking for. Hope I hear from them! I'll keep you posted.

As for the spacing, they recommend 7 per panel. The panels are 50" and they are thermal drapes so they are lined and have a heavy suede type material. To spread them out far enough to cover four additional panels (besides the four I have now), that would mean just 3-4 per panel. I don't think they'd hold that, and wouldn't it look kindof funny? (Not "HA HA" funny... well, maybe HA HA funny!!) LOL!

OK-okwriter...I phoned down to my Penny's about the hooks-she had pkgs of the black ones BUT the number she had was 735-5940...NOT 7080. When I FINALLY made her understand I needed the ones where the wire is wrapped around the ring-she said-"no these look like an 'S' hook"-I said no-not the ones. She got on the computer and it told her the number you need is "Currently unavailable"...NOT discontinued. So maybe check back w/the catalogue dept at a later date. Sorry I couldn't help.
Sharon

Thank you, Sharon. I really appreciate you taking the time to do that. After the JCP site said the hooks were unavailable, I called the 800 number and an agent used the word "discontinued." I'll give it a week or two and try again before ordering some in the other color and just spray paint the darn things.

The eBay seller doesn't have them, either. Ah, well...it was worth a try!

:-)

Try Joann Fabrics. One of the large stores. We carried clips like those when I worked there.

Found these at Restoration Hardware online...

I'm still clickin' ladies! :-) Neither of those are "it" *sigh* and kathy, I went to the site for JoAnn Fabrics and I don't think those are it either. I always enlarge the image and look at the connector thingy like I posted the picture of in an earlier post.

I sincerely appreciate you all looking, though! It means a lot that you'd take time out of your day to try to help me resolve this.

Well, then, how about THESE???

Must they be the black? I managed to order them in the Antique gold, perhaps it is just the black that is not available? I used the same rings when I did the living room this spring, I have a few rings leftover but not 28 and they are in the antique gold not black.

Lynn, this is in our great room (living/dining/kitchen all in one open space). I went with black since all of our kitchen hardware is black, and I ordered a black rod and finials. And yes, the rest of them (I think) are available except the black.

nik, those might actually be a match! I'll have to look closer and see. Wish we had one of those around here somewhere.

stop looking for something that is discontinued i see in a lot of new homes where the people are drying out a good size tree branch and draping their drapes you can also let the hang. i bet if you do one window like that and show someone you will see one of their windows the same way and maybe the same design you have when you go to their house. you know it only takes one person to do something before it becomes a style

That would look great, lynn, especially with our rustic decor. Problem is, we open and close these several times each day (close at night, open in morning, close in afternoon during summer to keep the sun out...) I don't think re-draping them several times a day would be practical.

I ultimately ordered the identical rings from Penneys in a different color. They've been back ordered until late January (sigh), and I will just spray paint them when they arrive.

I went to the Penney's web site this morning.

Your black clip rings, 735-7080, pk of 14, are on back order!

Expected to ship on 1/25/08.

If you can wait till the end of January, you can get them!

Thanks, czech chick! When I ordered two days ago, I tried to order the black and it was still saying that the item was unavailable and didn't give a back order date. I'll have to see if I can change my "back order" from ??whatever color I ordered?? to black!

Is this them?

This seller has a lot of different sizes in stock, looks like.

I will check the JC Penny near me tomorrow after work.

Sheryl - NJ

Well, Penneys allows me to put them (the ones linked in Alisande's post, 2nd in this thread) in my shopping cart, with no mention of them being out of stock or back ordered. I've got two sets of the black in my cart right now. I'd be happy to order them, then send them on to you. Let me know if you want me to do this!

Oh darn, when I went to the check-out, it stated that they are back-ordered until Jan. 25. Sorry to get your hopes up. I bought some similar to this at Joann about a year ago, and I have a couple here that I didn't use. I would be happy to send them to you to try out.

UPDATE Yes, I can now get them into the cart and they are back ordered. That is GREAT because it beats the heck out of not being able to get them at all. I cancelled my order for ivory colored rings today (that I was going to have to spray paint) and placed a new order for back ordered black ones.

Czech chick, you ROCK for that heads up!
And junkyardgirl, I got your email and replied. Thank YOU, too!
Shea, I'll just hold out now for my back order. Someone else posted a link to some from Joanns that looked like a match, but our closest store is two hours away.
