Connie, I feel for you. It's going to be a long time until Spring I afraid. If the sun comes out, it'd help. While we don't have the snow, it's cold and windy.

I know what you are going through. I was stationed at F.E. Warren AFB in Cheyenne and remember my first year there. I arrived in early summer and one of the things they did when I first checked in was issue me winter gear. When I told the young Sgt I was an administrative worker and wouldn't be needing that stuff his reply was "Oh yes you will. You obviously have never been in this area of the US when winter hits" Boy was he ever right. First snowstorm dumped something like 16 inches or so. Thank goodness I lived on base or I would never have been able to make it to work.

They just showed S Dakota (I think?) and boy did they get snow! And we are the Great White North? LOL Six foot snow drifts, a no driving advisory, something like 102cm of snow in some places. WOWZERS!

Calgary got may 1cm (1/2") two night ago.....

65° for our high today, 40° tonight, 49° tomorrow. They were calling for showers and snow showers for Sunday, but it has changed to just showers.

I hate those early winter storms,they can be killers! My mom had one in October 2006 that killed many of her trees.

I think we only got 8 inches....but the drifts are like 2 feet high! Its so heavy its taking DH a long time to clean it out with the Bobcat.

I am glad everyone is safe. With that said, I can't wait to have a snowstorm or Blizzard. I just love winter and the snow!! I am actually jealous!

I hate to say this, but here in Ontario we're having our Indian Summer here. The temps all week in my backyard have been in the high 60's and low to mid 70's. I'm sure it's going to end very soon, then winter will hit us with a vengeance.

Nodakgal, I'm glad it BARELY missed us. The wind is blowing like crazy, the guys are bringing semi loads of corn and agering them into the big bins. Between the two LOUD sounds my ears are begging for quite already this morning. I will say the sun is shining for a little while before the clouds come back by. Hurray for the sun. Hopefully this system will blow by soon, the sun will be pretty on the snow.

That's a lot of snow Connie. I love snow, but sometimes enough is enough. Hope you thaw out quickly.

Hope you are all able to stay inside. Also hope the sun comes out and melts the snow away. At least until after Thanksgiving.

I thought of you as I watched the weather on CNN this morning. Burrrr...... Good luck getting out. Just be thankful that this storm was not a few week earlier...could you imagine a wedding in this weather?

I feel for you! Makes you think you are in for a long winter. At least you had decent weather for your daughter's wedding though! Just stay inside and cozy if you can, maybe make a cup of tea.

I moved from southern ont to Newfoundland in July and have been expecting to see similar weather to ND's,but yesterday it was T-shirt weather and today it's cloudy,but still mild.
But as Lucky gardener said...look out,because when it starts it's relentless.
Since this is our first winter as retirees,at least we'll be able to sit in front of a fire and look out at it...I keep a well stocked pantry,so no worries about running out of basics.Our small town grocery store is practically next door,so we can walk there.
Medical emergencies do give me pause for thought,but I'm told that our emergency road crews are out 24/7 to keep our highways open for our ambulance service.
In spite of all that,I really hate winter once the holidays are over,I want spring.
Wishfull thinking on my part no doubt!

It has been rainy and gross here (DC area) all week but it is beautiful today! its in the mid 70s and really sunny.. unfortunately i am stuck at work and only able to enjoy it by lookig out my office window :(

We actually did not get as much as expected. About 3=4 inches but Minot got much more. Dr. appt cancelled, businesses and schools closed. Windy though and about 25=at least it is above and not below.
