Who here Woots?

It is one of my daily sites, I got a Dyson Animal DC27 for $299 last month (usually $599) and I have bought several other things that are great. Everything always ships for $5, most items are refurbished but come with the original warranty.

Each deal lasts 24 hours. Once in a while there is a Woot-off and they will put items on all day at incredible prices until the items are all sold out. Woot-offs are about monthly, and are designated by a flashing orange light.

Anyway, today's Woot might be a good deal for some of you northerners!

It's one of the first sites I check in the morning. They ship quick too. I also check out Ben's Outlet which now offers free shipping instead of the $5 they used to have.

I am from the U.K. but now live in Crete, Greece. It is a beautiful place to live, with wonderful people. The view from my village. The view from my dentists waiting room. No. I do not trust the banks at all. For example, I have both a euro account and a pound sterling account with my local Greek bank. When I need funds sent over from my U.K. pension, I instruct my U.K. bank to send sterling to my local sterling account. I then transfer some or all of it to use into my euro account, WHEN THE EXCHANGE RATE IS ADVANTAGEOUS. The last time I did this the money did not turn up. My U.K. bank swore that they had sent it. It had certainly left my U.K. account but had not arrived in my local sterling account. Weeks later, it was found in my euro account at a very, very, poor exchange rate. But how had it got there? This was a different account number which I had never given to my U.K. bank. It turned out that my U.K. bank was not allowed to transfer my money directly into my local bank. Apparently, it has to go through a middle bank. Why? I don't know. The intermediary bank was Deutsche bank. Deutsche bank stole some of my money by forcing my local Greek bank to give them my account number for my euro account so that they could change my sterling into euros at a very poor rate and then pocket the difference. The day the money was put into my euro account, my Greek bank was offering 1.20 euros to 1 pound sterling. Deutsche bank changed it at 1.15 euros to 1 pound sterling. That is a big difference when it was thousands. After many weeks of expensive telephoning and trips into town to my local bank, I finally got some of it back from Deutsche bank. Not all of it , but it had made me so ill, I just gave up. So, Deutsche bank stole....my local Greek bank should not have given them my account number information.....so no, I do not trust any bank. Ah yes....but I bought 12 board feet of clear 7 inch wide cedar planks...delivered for just under $20...don't think the lumber yard can do that. The last time I had to buy a 12 foot cedar 1 by 4 for deck repair is was more than $30. I had the planks sent to my son. They entertain a lot and I am sure that in the near future there will be a backyard party for 5 or 6 couples featuring planked something or other. This is the guy who cooked 3 turkeys last Thanksgiving, one in the oven, one fried and one smoked....and the year before that he fried turkeys for 4 of his friends....in addition to the one for us. I only hope I can be included in a salmon dinner! My father used to cook something he called "planked steak"...can't remember just how he did it....but it seems he put a piece of meat on a plank and put it under the broiler....don't remember it being turned. Anyone ever cook anything but salmon on a plank? Linda C

I love the tall mirror ones, I saw one at big lots that was just beautiful, dark wood that would match my furniture, showed it to hubby and of course it never registered in his brain oh wow good gift idea! LOL His birthday is the 24th maybe I should buy it for HIM! tee heee. I don't have very much either but I sure could use a nice place to store what I do have. When our granddaughter turned 16 I passed down to her some of the good jewelry I had in a nice jewelry box.

I got curious and checked it out. But even after several minutes on their FAC page I couldn't figure out what a WOOT WAGE was or how to do it. Can't they just break it down into dollars instead of this cutesy currency?

I've been Wooting for a long time (primarily under a different username) and have gotten bunches of stuff. I've gotten stuff from Woot.com; from Wine.Woot.com; from Kids.Woot.com; and from Shirt.Woot.com. Haven't yet gotten anything from Home.Woot.com.

I wouldn't say that "most" of the stuff is refurbished, though. It seems to be a pretty good mix between new and refurbished.

It used to drive me nuts if I wasn't near a computer at 10:00 p.m. (Pacific time), because that's when the offering changes. But for quite a while now I've been getting an e-mail from them every night at 10:00 (or a few minutes thereafter) showing what the new offerings are on the different Woot sites. It's great. Now I don't have to be anywhere near a computer because I get the e-mail on my BlackBerry, and I can immediately go online from the BB and purchase whatever I can't live without! :-)

Neesie, I don't know what you are referring to. The price is clearly marked on the page, with $5 shipping, I don't know about "Woot wages" or anything, I just hit "buy" and pay with a credit card. I checked out their FAQs page and it said nothing about what you are talking about. Could you post the link to what you read? I am curious now!
