Annie was famous for her salsa long before GW posted a similar link a few years ago.... And with good reason, her salsa rocks! But it is nice to see her in the spotlight again.

Annie- looking for your cinnamon spiced pears

Flatlander, those red hots are indeed the little decorator cinnamon things. I just buy them in a bag, I think a bag contains a cup or so. I don't really have a recipe, I just make a batch of medium syrup from the table in the Ball Blue Book, add a package of the red hots, break up a couple of cinnamon sticks and add some whole cloves. I simmer that syrup until the candy melts, then add the pears and heat through. I tried raw pack but they don't seem to absorb the syrup that way. I put the pears in jars, I usually cut them into halves or quarters for this recipe, no smaller because of the hot pack. Pour the hot syrup over, I try to dip out most of the whole spices, then process them for the same time I process regular pear quarters. My kids just love these, they're a beautiful pink color and the spice adds a nice flavor. Annie

ya know, Angela, i was feeling that way the last couple of weeks!! that's for sure!! then tabor had his thing, so i put down the laptop. put EVERYTHING on hold. and did all the housework, didn't stop till the laundry was done, all of it. and hung out on the line, folded, and actually put away!! amazing since i hate doing that!! LOL then it was onto the very next worst room, while i was waiting. then the next. and so on. then it was vac. the walls and corners from the ceilling down. i hate dust bunnies, i am so allergic and so i had to take the stuff off of the couches and all and vac them out. i mean heck why not?? then i learned a valuable lesson, i could not function in a messy house. so now they do their danged chores BEFOR bed or some danged drawers are pulled down and get the buns smacked with my bare hand. which talla totally hates the thought of anyone touching her buns!! LOL so imagine the cleaning getting done!! LOL then i was supposed to host a round robin next month, but with tabor being out, or so i thought, forgot about youth being on his side, LOL i cancelled it. so i am also learning to say, hey!! i have to opt out, i am way to busy and overwhelmed even though i totally hate to do this!! and believe me, this is something i NEVER do. my problems were 1. the dirty house 2. the round robin 3. the kids's schedual 4. that gh which has all been resolved but the gh. but my factor, (get this) crystal light "focus" i kept drinking it all day. and believe it or not i was totally in focus!!! so now i keep that stuff around and i don't have so many down days as i did. well. its only been since friday. but that's a start. LOL i am TOTALLY here if you want to talk anytime!! EG i am so happy that your daughter is at a real hospital!! i hope you get to enjoy that concert!! also Angela it says in the Bible that GOD will never give you more than you can handle, i cling to that like you wouldnt believe!! LOL and know that he will give you the strength that you need, you just have to be there to ask for it. and believe that he will give it to you. don't make promises. or anything. just ask. then just do!! :') leave the computer off all day. totally. leave all things but say the house alone, devote that to whatever it is that needs done, crank the music and clean!! (that's my thing!! LOL) then if it takes more than one, so be it. then take however long to do the liones club thing. many many (((((HUGS))))) ~Medo hope ANY of that helps, its just what i've kinda JUST learned. so i'm new to this method of madness!! LOL ***huge grinn***

Hey Annie, look at this stove!

Thanks for that link, writersblock. Mine cost me that $60 plus we had to get new orifices for it to convert it from natural gas to propane. Fortunately we have a small, family owned gas company who was happy to help us with that. I still haven't fixed the drawer paint or that loose handle, but I will. Right now I'm too busy using it for canning, thereby keeping the mess out of my "real" kitchen and being able to leave canners and equipment there where it's easily accessible is just a bonus. It's not as pretty or as fancy as those O'Keefe & Merritt stoves, but I like it a lot. Plus, since I'm in Michigan and it's a Detroit Jewel, well, it's a natural for me! Maybe someday it'll be as pretty as Cindy's.....or not, LOL. Annie

My son is coming over tomorrow for our annual salsa day. He likes it medium hot, I like it mild.

I've been pulling out the jars and rings, and my time saving alligator chopper. Off to get lids and tomatoes and onions, etc. etc.

I still have a few jars of salsa from past years. Good stuff.

I have been wondering if Annie saw that. It's been a couple of weeks so I assumed she did and was being humble.

And I can call Annie my Irish-Native American (Cherokee for me) potato loving "sister". HA! kidding :)

Jude makes Annie's salsa pretty darn well. I need to get off my can and learn how to can.

Thank you, thank you, I just want to take this opportunity to thank my fans, my agent, my.....oops, wrong dream. LOL

Yes, I saw it. I was "featured" a couple of years ago here too, and I was even on Twitter once. Not that I saw it because I don't know how to twitter, LOL. Hey, at least Alexa remembers it.

I did post to that thread, I've made my first double batch of the year. My girls tell me if I ever get rich and famous, it's going to be for that salsa.

And, L2C46, not only are you a friend, but you got a jar of that salsa. (grin)

Yes, Cathy, that's me. I'm humble. Or something. LOL

momj47, have fun making salsa with your son, it's so much more fun to can with someone else.

Rob, my long lost sister, do I have to come down there and teach you to make salsa?

FYI - 12 large tomatoes, peeled, chopped and drained, makes about 8 cups.

We've got our first batch cooking now. I got 30 pounds of tomatoes at the farm market this morning.

Momj47, maybe it's here but does it seem that the tomatoes are just huge this year?

That's not a complaint, but like you, I did a couple of dozen tomatoes and got a double batch.

anyone who wants personal instruction will have to call me on the phone or send me an email, LOL.
