Do any of you know of a good coffee grinder, I've looked at so many, it's starting to get confusing.

I answered this over in the Cooking Forum, but whatever you get, get a burr grinder rather than one of those ones with blades like a blender. Burr grinders are adjustable so you can alter the fineness of the grind from espresso to French press.
I bought mine three or four years ago and it hasn't missed a beat. It's a De Longhi, which I believe is identical to the Krups. Both were equal top rated by our consumer magazine at the time.

It isn't true espresso but pretty close. Really hard to get that at home without spending some pennies. I don't think you would ever regret having one. You will have it for years and always have a good very close to espresso cup. Look at the brikka 4 cup. Spend your money on a good burr grinder and experiment with quality beans. Might need to fuss with it a bit the first few pots. Medium heat and bring it up slow. (a sloppy house guest actually burnt the gasket on mine and it got so hot it nearly exploded when the coffee came up...i was not home but guessing she also must have left it on the gas burner after brewing). She burned alot of things. Here is a link that might be useful: bialetti brikka

Biz, I'm using a 15 year old Krups blade grinder. I grind coffee fresh daily, about one pot's worth, and it works really well. They are about $20, I think they were $15 when I got mine years ago. I'm enough of a coffee hound that I drink coffee every day, I want fresh beans, medium roast and I want them ground freshly every day. I'm not spending a lot of money to grind one pot's worth of beans daily, though. Coffeemakers? At work I have a Hamilton Beach with a carafe, so the coffee doesn't "cook" all day. At home I have a Gevalia that I got free when I bought coffee, then I cancelled the membership, LOL. I also have a nice little one cup french press that I use on work mornings because I make coffee when I get to work. Annie

Jeaninwa, I totally agree with you. But sometimes "they" just have us over a barrel. I probably would never have made that purchase if I hadn't had that gift card, but now that I have the item, if it ever needed to be replaced, I would look for the exact same item again. Kind of off topic, but DH and I like REALLY strong coffee and had trouble brewing it to our liking until I discovered that the beans alone did not make all the difference. I also make a very strong pot of coffee at work, but we start with already ground coffee, not beans. Yet the coffee tasted better than what I made at home. I decided that the pot made the difference and I was right. We have a DeLonghi Esclusivo at work that sprays tiny amounts of heated water at regular intervals, allowing the water to soak the grounds before actually starting to drip into the pot. I bought the exact same coffee maker for home (and paid way more than I wanted to) and IMHO, I now make the best coffee in the universe, LOL. And if it dies, I will search for that very same pot again!

Mine is a cheapo Sunbeam and it works great. I've had it for several years and mostly use it for grinding espresso beans for my latte's. I bought it at Walmart for dirt cheap.

I have a Krups. I've used it for probably 8 years, about every other day, without a problem.

Don't have a coffee grinder, but I think the smell of fresh ground coffee is one of the most beautiful smells in the world! And I don't even drink coffee.

Hi susan on , I'm the same, I love the smell of the coffee, but I don't drink coffee. I want to get this new coffee grinder for my husband, he's not a heavy coffee drinker, I don't really like the way they grind it at the store where I get his bag of coffee beans, I'd rather do it my self.

I wish my husband would let me do that, Lacombe. I would enjoy it. I used to like making coffee for my parents.

my husband likes it too, when I make his coffee (my stomach just can't handle all that caffeine), but he mostly makes it his self.

We have an old fashioned hand grinder. Makes awfully nice smelling coffee! :)
