We use the tv to watch netflix

Not important al all. I would never want/allow a tv in my bedroom. I will admit to one being in our spare bed room for guests as I often have my sister or a sister-in-law stay here for weeks at a time and their tv viewing habits are different from ours. The tv is not our main source of entertainment. Many days the only thing watched is the evening news and Jeopardy. I do use that spare bedroom tv occasionaly when there is something on of interest to me that DH has no interst in.

I used to think it was pretty important, but have found otherwise.

We used to have a TV in almost every room--until they switched the signal a few years back. Now, in the suburbs, we have one in the living room connected to cable, and one in the bedroom that has the box you had to buy. BUT at the country house, we cannot get any reception without cable (We've tried the box with a big antenna and still nothing). We're not willing to pay 2 cable bills at the moment, so we have no TV there. It's wonderful--I get so much more done. And I really don't miss the TV that much. Am seriously considering NOT having TV there at all once we move. We can get our news from the radio or internet, and many shows can be viewed over the internet anyway.

I love our TV and the DVR recording feature you mentioned. Not that I need it, but we enjoy it very much.

I am definitely a TV person! We have 8 televisions (including two 50", a 47" and a 46"), and at least one is on at any given time during the day. They are all connected to DishNetwork--with all available channels--and the DVR is in use every day.

More important than I'd like, but getting less important every day, thankfully. I have always enjoyed reading-as a child I read the same cereal box every morning and even read the dictionary when another more interesting book wasn't available, LOL. But DH has ADD and dyslexia and reading was never enjoyable for him. He adores television.

However, I listen to audiobooks every day during my commute and picked up some sci-fi I thought he might be interested in and introduced him to it one evening and he is HOOKED! So now, it is often an evening of listening together instead of watching together.

If it wasn't for our 18 year old grandson living with us we wouldn't have the TV hooked up at all. Actually I have noticed that since we have wifi in the house he spends most of his time in his room watching movies on his laptop. As said above you can get the news on the internet.

When we travel with the motor home we never hook up the TV. My husband likes to watch movies on his computer. I listen to music on the computer and love doing jigsaw puzzles on it as well.

We have 4 TVs in our house, plus Direct TV satellite. One TV in each bedroom and one in the family room. The TV in my daughter's room is mine alone-daughter moved out to her own apartment several months ago. I consider it my den and hobby room. I watch TV every day-news in the morning, then I switch over to TCM for old movies or TBS or TVLand for old comedies.I recently got hooked on "An American Horror Story" which is on Wednesday nights.

Right now with DH gone its VERY IMPORTANT, I would go totally buggy without it. Same for my PC!

Not important. I only turn it on once or twice a week to watch it. I fight with my kids over it because they watch too much. My dh doesn't support me on how much tv the kids can watch so it is a struggle.

I enjoy tv! We have 4 and when I have my kitchen remodeled next month, I plan on putting one in there since I spend most of my time baking and cooking.

I have one tv and I would replace it within the hour if it quit.

I love watching tv (including movies), though I could get by with just my computer if I had to. I read all the time, but I often read while watching television.

I have canceled all cable except internet. I use a $10 digital antenna for the networks for news in case of a disaster or something. I use my TVs for movies that I own, haven't tried Netflex. I have 4 TV's in my home, only use two of them.

I have one in every room .Have one on all night with my vcr playing favorite films to go to sleep to. It is just on. I don't pay a lot of attention to it sometimes.The TV and my internet connections. and of Course selectricity very important It is like having someone in the house with me

Since i'm a news and financial market junkie, my TV is very important for me.

I have a 42" in the living room and a small 19" set in the bedroom. Unfortunately the tv and my dvr are important to me and the cable bill is expensive. But I live alone and it is a major source of entertainment so I pay. Actually I waste more time on the computer than watching tv. My tv wtching is planned in advance and I only watch things I really like.

Moderately important for entertainment I guess. The internet has replaced it for a lot of the entertainment value. I don't have cable or satellite and there's been broadcast channels added that are of interest to me. I also watch a lot of shows on the internet. If I miss one I can usually watch it online and often don't have the commercials, or at least not as many online.

Right now I only use one TV, a 27" with a converter box. Been thinking about buying a bigger TV but haven't found a price I like. Given the shortcomings of the 9x16 format, I prefer the 3x4.

If our 58" plasma were to die, oh horror of horrors, we would be out buying a bigger and better one with in a day, we watch a lot of tv it is about our only form of entertainment these days. We do read a LOT and of course the computers and tablets take some of our time.
I have my DVR to record all our fave programs so we can watch as we want.

So in answer it is quite important. Plus around here the weather as it is makes it that much more important for us.

I went for years with no television and this was before you could watch programs on the Internet. Since the advent of the DVR, I've started watching more television. When the broadcast signals converted to digital, I purchased a flat screen for the bedroom to replace the little 13" non-digital set we had been using. I also added a small flat screen to the guest room because my father is a CNBC junkie and needs access when he visits. Both sets are housed in cabinets with doors and the doors are closed when we are not actively watching. We still don't have a television in any of the entertaining areas of the house. Can you tell we are not big sports fans?

I use it mainly to watch the news, some cooking programs and the Yankees when they are televised here.
Most of the time I don't have the TV on except for the news.
DH loves the TV....watches old movies, all sports and whatever else is on.
We don't watch daytime TV.

Not at all important to me. I could easily do without one altogether. The few shows that I watch, I can watch on my computer. I do love to watch DVDs, but lately I haven't been finding any good movies anyway.

DH couldn't live without a TV though. He keeps winning them at work (he's in sales) and recently won yet another one that came with a blueray and surround sound speakers or whatever they're called. He was so excited. I think of them as something more to dust.

Could not live without our TVs. I'm a reality TV junky and SO is a sports fanatic, so TV ranks right up there with family--and DVR--how in the world did we ever live without it.

It's my lifes blood.Thank goodness for "law & order "dog whisper"and a few more court shows like judge Judy.Otherwise there is nothing worthwhile .Everybody seem to want sex and are jumping into bed three minuets into the programs.

Eh, not that important. I have one show I love to watch during the week and I watch football on the weekends. I like the mystery shows, but don't know when they're on, but will watch one if I happen across it (Dateline Mystery, etc).

I have one older tv in the living room and that's it. I would never pay for cable, and I get really mad at myself if I watch too much. I've had times in my life where I've watched WAY too much of it and I really feel like I could living instead of wasting my life away staring at the tv. Whenever I know I'm watching too much, I get annoyed to think of all the productive things I could have been doing or accomplishing instead. I've thought about getting rid of it altogether. Maybe I'll have to give it a shot soon.

I think that the little old portable that was uncle's is sitting on a small table over there in the corner by the door into the family room.

Don't work on most stations, as it's analog, and most except the national broadcaster have gone HD.

Being several miles from the nearest tower and using rabbit ears - I used to get about three stations - all snowy.
