Yes Yes Yes. I do dress up every year. I have several costumes in progress. I start simple and add items every year. I'm in the process of a new one but don't want to jinx my idea if I don't get it done. I tend win at a certain bar every year. The owners judge and they really look for creativity. The others are popularity contests if you know what I mean.

We just helped DD build her first "Pyschodelic Tigger" costume. Her first time sewing for herself. She had an old traditional Tigger for over a decade made way back in high school so it was time for a new one.

Tomorrow night DD and I are going with friends to a Haunted Pirate Halloween thing. Like a haunted house only it's pirates. We'll costume up somewhat for that but simply. They don't allow masks or make-up and theatrical make-up is my "thing"

I posted this pic last year...Mike and I went as Peace and Quiet. It was fun, but I was about 14 weeks pregnant and didn't feel 100%. This year, we're just dressing Brody in a little skeleton sweatsuit during the day and a bear costume we inherited for the evening.

I also made this cake last year for my friends' anniversary/Halloween party. They dressed as the King and Queen (their personal theme), hence the crown

I'll wear the 'costume' I do every year. Fall-colored clothes (probably peach slacks, brown top this year), my bat earrings and I have a really cool leather hair thing--the kind that's a leather patch with a couple of holes that a stick goes through?--the leather portion is a witch, the stick is a broom. Of course, no one sees it unless I turn around, but it's beautifully made, so cute, and I only wear it one day a year.

I would really like to. But as of right now, I don't even know what any of my kids are going to wear. We have had a crazy October and it just hasn't gotten done. That is today's single goal. I'm browsing, looking for original but simples ideas. As soon as they get home from school, we're making decisions. First, we'll go through the "Box of Halloweens Past," get creative, and go for any supplies we still need.

So if that goes well and I get inspired instead of frustrated, maybe I'll think of something for myself. I don't go anywhere special, just walk with kids around the neighborhood/answer the door. But it would still be fun.

I just read an idea on line for "substitute teacher." Dressing in "teacher clothes," then making it all disarrayed, hair frazzled, chalk prints on the clothes, paper airplane in the hair, "kick me" note on the back. I was actually thinking of wearing it to school book fair tomorrow (I'm volunteering all day). Since I actually am one, it might get some laughs.

My 15 y/o likes to do something with a pun. Last year he was "white trash." Cover w/white trash bag and tape pieces of trash all over himself. He and a neighbor both. I could see him walk up to people several houses away, then just hear the hooting laughter and knew they asked "what are you" and he answered. I was a little nervous he might offend someone, but he said absolutely everyone that it was very funny. And some thought it was hysterical! LOL!

I still have to get candy, too. I decided to just give full size candy bars this year. I almost bought them two weeks ago, but DD said, "Moo-ooom! You know we'll eat them all before Halloween!" And I knew she was right. ;o)

We will have tons of kids, many of whom we know well.

Ohh yes! we went to a party sat and i dressed as sarah palin, whom i abhore lol but do a great impression of all her stupid lines. i got the perfect wig & copy glasses, already had an appropiate suit & shoes. i copied her down to the dangling earrings, polish free nails and no nylons. i dressing up fri for work too, we are vehement dem's here :-) ~ liz

We went to a Halloween party last Saturday and had to come up with quick costumes. DH dressed in camo and stuck a white feather in his cap (He was supposed to be someone named Hathcock.. but no one knew who that was. Neither did I.). I bought a men's long sleeved grey shirt and made iron-ons for it - the front said "Budget Pest Control" and the name "Roachelle". The back had a large plastic trantula sewed on along with the motto "Only Windshields kill more bugs!". I carried a fly swatter. My GF wore scrubs and a witch hat and went as a 'Witch Doctor'. Quick easy costumes.

Sharon, did you get the cookie labels to work for you?

I have to work a double shift Halloween from 9 am until 8 pm but I
am thinking about going as a lazy housewife or Joe the plumber!!!

Lydia..yes dear soul-thanks to YOU-the labels turned out great. Cost me many more bucks than I wanted to spend, but it is so worth it! You'll see what I mean, when I post the pics, after Halloween.
I am almost ready-have to affix the LED lights inside of my 'oven door', Fri am, have to bag up the individual cookie bags (all 225 of them) as well as the 5 pumpkins filled w/cookies for staff @ all 3 locations...(an annual tradition).
Today I baked 225 peanut butter cookies & 115 of the orange pumpkin cookies..added to the choc chip & gingerbread men from yesterday makes a total of 625 cookies. Found the cutest 'treat bags' with gingerbread men printed all over them...perfect. In fact-the sign I made-I cut in the shape of a gingerbread man & covered in ginger colored fabric then wrote on it "Nothin' says lovin' like cookies from the oven", in white paint. Tomorrow I get to decorate the pumpkins & gingerbread men-the FUN part!
The pressure is finally off-now the fun begins..thank goodness! Y'all have a great Halloween. I envy those with young kiddos to enjoy the 31st with-I remember those days..too much fun!!

My wife said to me to go just I am - I'd be just fine. Now, I'm confused: I don't know whether I am thrilled or angry.

Seriously, we don't costume up because we will be manning our front door meeting the little neighborhood spooks and globlins looking for handouts. But I suppose the main reason is that Halloween is not a big holiday for us and we are lazy.

One year, I did don a mask but found that was a little too scary for the wee ones. One year, I rigged a talking pumpkin on the front stoop. That was a hoot. I watched from behind curtains and made remarks. The speaker was not in the pumpkin, but in a flower pot behind the pumpkin.
