My babies are gone!!! :(

They left today to go back to Albuquerque and I already miss them so much! DDIL called about 7 to tell me they were home and I could hear Rowdy in the background and he was not a happy camper! She put me on the speaker phone and I started talking to him and he stopped crying.She said he was looking around like he was trying to find me.LOL We had planned to go back with them but plans changed.DH has been having blood pressure problems,very high,so we have a doctor's appointment for him Monday.Hopefully we will be able to go up there later in the week.Both DDIL and DS had thought we were going home with them and they were really nervous about not having us there.LOL I think if Rowdy didn't have the doctor's appointment in Albuquerque Monday they would probably have stayed another couple of weeks.

DD and DGS from OK have been here for almost 3 weeks also and they all left today so I have pretty much been in a funk all day.I never even got dressed today,still in my night gown!LOL

Please keep little Rowdy in your prayers.His appointment Monday is to find out about the Biotin deficiency.Hopefully it is just from all he has been through and will correct itself,or maybe it already has.

Oh lillie, I'm sure it's quiet there, and you miss your little babies.
I hope DH's Dr. appointment goes well, and you can go there Wednesday.

If you don't want to be "bothered" Why do you answer the door in the first place?

And if you do answer the door, is it to much of a bother to be polite to a 10 year old?

Well, She is back!!! We got her back last night. She was at a neighbor's house, quite a ways away. We believe that our schnauzer probably chased her off, or she would have come to the house. The neighbor lady said she came to her porch and was peeking in the window at her! She wants in the house so bad! We secured the door to her pen last night with rope and then this morning we didn't let her see us until after church today. After we fed her we went back to the house for lunch. It didn't take very long before she showed up on the porch. We have no idea how she got out now! We are getting her playmate this week. Surely the playmate will keep her entertained so she won't be wanting to escape so badly. I am so happy to have her back, just don't know how long to expect her to stay!

Violetta (very pretty name); when you plant babies or leaves into soil mix, it should be *just damp*, like a wrung out sponge; they take surprisingly little water to root. Also, make sure your baggies are out of direct sunlight at all times or they'll cook. It's always better to leave the babies on the leaf until they're a size you're comfortable handling. They could stay on there indefinitely, but they'd get tangled and messy-looking. I'd leave them on until they have three or four sets of leaves, longer if you like. Really, there's no rush. Thats so sad. Snakes, Racoons, Owl, Cat, even other birds. It may have been something that prowls at night since you have not seen anything. I have nest boxes and I can protect those birds to some extent but the open nesters are on their own. It is nature and it's not always pretty.

Here in Central WI, I have two pairs of Blues on their second nesting, they are both incubating at the moment. One nesting should be hatching by this wednesday and the other about five days later, both have four eggs. Not sure if any would just be starting a second nesting this late now though. The one pair started the second nest within days of fledging the first brood. The other pair waited over two weeks! This is only my fourth year hosting/monitoring Bluebirds and I have always had them bring the babies back and keep eating the mealworms I offered until they left in Oct/November. Not sure if they all stay at the feeders though, I think it greatly depends on where you live if the Blues migrate from your area in the Fall or not. Donna

To suddenly go from a bustling, busy, full house to the almost total quiet is hard, isn't it? I pray that all goes well for your DH, and that Rowdy gets a terrific report.
