Will it hurt him? If he is under 14" long ... perhaps. :-)

I seriously doubt it will harm him but I'll leave that to someone who knows a bit more about dogs and bread.

Thanks Jodi. I just checked the Pet Forum and am not as concerned as I initially was. Loki is a lab cross so he is a good size. I guess it could have been worse, he could have eaten the box of Halloween chocolate bars I left on the kitchen table.

I used to panic and get right to the vet with my last dog anytime he ate anything. Cost me a fortune. I have learned to relax with Loki. I think the worse thing he ate was a bag of fertilizer tablets for my garden. Ate the entire bag but I gave him a dose of hydrogen peroxide and he brought them all up LOL I counted them.

Also the time he chewed on a plugged in electrical cord while in his metal cage. Still to this day I can't figure out how he managed to pull the cord into the cage without it coming out from the socket which barely holds anything that gets plugged into it. He didn't seem to get a shock either. LOL

Silly dog. I knew right away he did something wrong by the way he was acting. He wasn't excited to see me when I came into the house like he usually is.

I guess I should finish eating my dinner salad now that I have the groceries put away.

If he hasn't barfed within an hour after eating the bread, he probably won't. This a bread product, right? It'll treat him much the dame as a regular loaf of bread. I don't think any harm will come except that he may be stuffed for awhile depending on if he overate for his size. Make sure he has access to drinking water.

When I lived on the farm as a child, we fed our dogs table scraps - the dogs ate anything that we ate - and no harm came of it. However, we did not know about chocolate. Its a good thing we did not have chocolate deserts to throw away!

Our dog sometimes 'counter cruises' too. The last thing was an entire bag of chocolate chips. No ill effects whatsoever with that. That was surprising to me. I know it was an unopened bag-I had bought it that day.

My former Lab would walk right past a steak but simply could not control himself when it came to stealing any bread items. He would sit and peer into the oven window whenever any baking was going on with huge bungie cords of drool running from his jowls. We had to keep all our bread products in a hanging basket or in a tightly closed pantry. We called him our breaditarian. LOL

Loki will be fine but he'll probably be a bit gassy. Maybe also a bit constipated. Feed him a little lighter than normal until his next bowel movement.

I can leave anything on the table and the dogs don't bother it. Bread is the exception. They steal it every time.

My little (dumb) yorkie ate a whole layer of Valentine chocolates once...She was fine...

I always sit my purse on the floor...and she sneaks into it. She ate a Butterfinger candybar out of it...And one time I brought home three cookies wrapped up in a napkin...she found those too. darn her.

A friend of mine had an old golden lab that open the a drawer in the kitchen cabnets and ate a loaf of bread...I think she said he was a little stopped up.

I hope that's all you have to deal with.

You don't need to make him throw up. He might have a bit of an "upset tummy," but the bread will eventually be processed.

Harry loves bread. An entire loaf of French bread has been devoured with no ill effects at all...except he wanted more, and with butter!
