Comments (138)I received my wonderful box from Jeanette! It was full to the brim with bright orange and black wrapped surprises! I got: a wonderful Halloween kitchen towel. I love to change my kitchen towels for the season and didn't have a Halloween-themed one - thanks! a cute pumpkin votive candle holder with a scented candle in it a black and orange paper lantern a wonderfully scented potpurri mix a halloween wind sock a spider web wine/champagne goblet (so cute!) a spider on a spring a silver starred Halloween hat (sorry Jeanette - no digital camera to take a picture - my daughter kept saying "you're not going to wear that in front of my friends are you? - LOL!" a spooky hanging ghosty that emits an eeery sound - scares the daylights out of my little dog......... mummy's passion fruit tea bags and a ghost tin of chocolate kisses (oops all gone - how did that happen he he) Thanks Jeanette! Comments (71)I don't get the light issue - if you make your curtains stack off the window, no light or view is ever blocked when they are open. That is the way I have all my curtains and rods made. I love fabric so wouldn't want to pass up that opportunity to add it as a layer somewhere. Curtains can be very simple and not cluttery looking. Also, unfortunately, there is the 'creep out' factor for me. We have a farmhouse (no longer our primary residence) embedded on 170 acres, long gated drive, mostly wooded, no neighbors and completely private. Just because you think it's private really anyone can position themselves to see in. Yes, perhaps a one in a million chance but still creeped me out too much to go without curtains or romans on every single window that could be drawn at night. I read that darn book "Red Dragon" (what they based those Manhunter movies on) way back when, and I wish I could erase it from my memory but can't!...See MoreCould you go purseless?
Comments (94)I don't like purses that interfere with my outfit so anything around my neck I would not like. My two friends I was with brought very small purses but still did not want to wear them and especially not dance with them so they ended up just on the table. I do feel I can now move to a much smaller purse. I liked being purseless except for having to keep watching my phone when dancing. My daughter has a phone case that you can put in your id, a cc or two and some cash. That would be convenient but still the size of the phone just doesn't fit in pockets well. At least not in jeans and its too warm now for jackets. Vests are interesting. I don't remember if I have ever owned one. I didn't actually need my ID, unfortunately I wasn't proofed....See MoreLoE 452, LoE 340, LoE 366 when you have a view
Comments (17)Oberon, I could kiss you. Yes, my intent was UV blocking to reduce fading. I did not realize that the VT would also cause fading! Thank you so much for that. SHGC is also important, but honestly all of these windows are much better than what we have now. However, view supersedes SHGC enough that 340 won't be our choice. Given that table, I think our best bet is still to go 452 to maintain the view and balance the UV, SHGC and fading. Most of our neighbors all close their west facing blinds 24x7. It's been a rare occasion when we toodle by to see one open. The view is a big part of our love of this home, and so we're trying to do our best to minimize damage so we can maintain that view. I use 303 spray on wood, and the living room chairs utilize Sunbrella fabric, but I have a leather couch I pull a couple blinds down to protect. Sounds like I may have to do that still, but overall much better protection. Do you think the lami addition is worth it? I'm thinking yes. I think they said it's like $275 more per window. Goodness you have been such immense help. I can't tell you how much I appreciate you. I'd love to treat you and your family to dinner. I don't use Houzz regularly so unsure if I can message you or not. I'll try to figure it out heh. Thank you!...See MoreUser
