It's an organizer and can carry tons of things in it and I know where everything is. Lots of compartments.

I myself wouldn't pay that much but he wanted me to have it and I do appreciate the generous gift.

There is a new (10 year old, I think) company called "Thirty-one" that makes really cute NOT LEATHER bags etc.((that appeals to the vegetarian in me, lol) and has a catalog and web page. I have met two of their 'independent distributors' and their line is really well done. Fabrics more like luggage. and nice quality.
I am not connected with anyone selling these.... have just met them at our Rallys.

Just checked out T.J. Maxx and Stein Mart on line. They have lots of purses and all different prices. Have fun shopping.

Thank you all, SO much. I'm not going to spend a great deal of money on a handbag...not where my personal priorities are. But I do want quality. I'll be shopping around tomorrow. Haven't seen anything yet at some of the places I've looked.

Some of the not leather ones look pretty good but worry about buying 'faux ' without being to see it in person. Nanny, thanks for the website....will check it out.

Well I have a Dooney & Burke..that holds my Ipad, plus ..
But I will say with a full leather structured bag and all the things..it get's a bit heavy..I get tons of compliments on it. I carry the red one..it was a gift for Christmas last year from my husband. :)

I would look in the shopper style whatever you decide.

Jean, I wish I could hit the thrift stores, but no can do....must shop on line. I've been in thrift stores where the most incredible name brand goods were on sale for a few dollars.

This has been a lot more fun than I thought it would be. I'm super impressed with some of the handbags I've seen! I may even end up getting a couple....one in a plain ol' brown or black or navy but I'm also yearning for something BRIGHT!

do a google search for Tignanello purses, it is a designer brand but you can find them for very good sale prices and the quality of the leather is absolutely top of the line. My current purse is this brand is a beautiful bright pink and I got it at Steinmart on sale for very reasonable price, it is the French Tote the color is called Cosmo.
You will not be disappointed in the quality, you are getting the same quality as the more expensive designer brands because it is a designer brand.

We have Sam Moon stores here and I love to go there it is wall to wall purses, some designer some not some leather some not pretty much the biggest selection anywhere. Love Sam Moons.

In the faux leather dept look at Big Buddha they make very good quality and are not real leather. My sister always buys that brand.

But I love them too.

And sorry but low cost "leather" is not quality leather.

And I have learned with leather items..if you spend a bit more on a quality well made piece...it will out last and therefore be less expensive in the long run.

Doesn't mean you can't find a great deal on a "designer" bag..just got to be patient and keep looking.

I have had my Tignanelo bag since 2002 and it isn't worn out. I got it at JCPenney when it was marked down to 50% off and I got my employee discount on top of that. I only use it in the winter because it is black. I take good care of it, stuff it with newspapers during the off seasons and clean it with saddle soap.

I got a really nice Cole Haan leather bag for $50 on ebay. It is brand new except for a tiny flaw that no one would notice. I love it.

I've got thrift stores in my area that I check regularly.

I suggest you go for Soulful Collection's range of women's bags. They are inexpensive and best suited for all your requirements. They have bags of different shapes and sizes.

I'm with you jeaninwa, I ck out Good Will all the time. I just can't bring myself to pay even $100 for a purse.

You could check Kohls. They have name brand handbags, and right now you get 6% cash back through ebates. Plus, I have a coupon code you could use for 20% off. It's TREAT20. The coupon is good from Oct. 16 - Oct. 26. You have to use your Kohls charge to get the 20% off. I do that then pay it off when I get home. You can even go to customer service at the store and pay it off before you leave.

I get nice bags from the sale table at Macy's. It is easier to buy a pricey bag if you do what I learned from Stacy/Clinton on What Not to Wear~~break it down to cost per wear. Take your old purse and figure out how many days/weeks/years you have used it and divide it into the price~~you may see it can be quite worth it to spend a few extra $$ for a bag.

I would never go over $200 for a bag~~really $100 is closer to my limit and I love to find a deal~~my older DD spends in the $$$$ for a bag they are beautiful and I love them but that is too crazy for me!

So anyway, this is an old thread but what did rhizo end up buying...pray tell.

I was going to recommend eBags.com, but I just realized this is an old thread, and I already did! They have an after-holiday sale going on right now.

Let's see, I found a handsome leather tote style bag at Kohls...two tone, black and brown. I also found a beautiful floral coated canvas and leather bag on Amazon. I paid about $150 for both.

In the meantime, I've visited a couple of our busy thrift stores on a good day. One had just recieved a large load of donated items, including mostly designer clothing and accessories. I picked up a couple of pretty belts, scarves, and a navy Coach bag......all for $20. I also wrote them a check for a donation....it was too much of a bargain, lol.

P.S. Just wanted to add that there were several handbags in that shipment, but the others were just too branded with logos for my taste. Gorgeous, but not my style at any price.

I looked through the clothing, but they were all too large. Some of the sweaters were gorgeous and they looked brand new.

Say what you may about expensive purses, but I bought a black leather Dooney five years ago for $150 (on sale) and I've carried it every single day since then. It still looks brand new and has zero wear on it. That works out to $30/year for a high quality purse that holds everything I need, including my iPad.

I love my fossil purses. I had one that was just the right size, outside pocket, color, etc. and was sad that it got to look a bit worn and tacky....went on EBay and happened to find one just like it.....I was a happy camper!

I agree chloe. I'm very picky about a purse, it has to have just the right pockets so all my stuff is organized just right. This is no simple task as most purses are just big bags that people throw their stuff in with a couple pockets inside for keys and that's it. I'd pay the price for a good leather bag if I could find one. The only bags I've been able to find that fit my needs as far as the organization goes are vinyl bags like from Sears that have not lasted at all. My last bag was perfect but the handle broke in just one years of use and the cost to replace the handle was more than the bag was worth. It was not all that cheap either, it cost $50. So your Dooney is a better deal than my cheap vinyl bag from Sears! Then I have to go out and search high and low for another bag that fits my needs! I'm a one purse kind of a gal...HA!

Lol, Arkansas_girl! My Dooney is one big bag with a cell phone pocket, and one other tiny zippered pocket. It does have a leather strap with a clasp for my keys. I don't like dividers or even multiple sections! :)

Rosetti is the brand of my newest organizer type handbag that I found. I just bought it so I'm not sure if it will last. It is made of a cheapy looking vinyl though. I'd much rather pay more and find a real leather bag. But like the bag you bought, most just don't have any organizers to them and if they do, they just aren't the right type bag. I'm extremely picky! :)

I am very picky about purses and don't care what it is made out of. Most leather is to heavy so I don't usually buy those. The last purses I bought were Baggallinia made out of fabric. I liked them so well I bought 3 sizes. One large one that my Ipad air will fit in when I travel.
