Is she going to have a website? The business name should be one that will come up in easily a search for hot stone massage. Besides proper META tags the website name should have key words in it. Nothing wrong with "hotstonemassage.com or something similar.

Names like "Dreamtime" don't give much of a clue to the distinctive nature of the business. Names that are either too common OR too wacky will make it hard to remember the business.

I would avoid any names that have drug or sexual connotations. 'Hot Rocks' massage is one example, as would be 'Stoney End' and 'Get Stoned' unless you want to spend all day fending off crank calls.

I would vote for 'Hot Stone Massage' as the name.

I like Sharon-fl's idea of "Thera-Stone" but I would just say "Thera-Stone Spa". I think it says what it needs to, especially if you consider what it sounds like when you answer the phone with it. Some business names don't sound right over the phone, no matter how good or cute they look in print.

Before I read that, I was wondering if Ya-Ya is a Southern thing (thinking of your user name and the movie) and if your friend is Southern then maybe "Ya-Ya's Spa" or "The Ya-Ya Spa".

Also manke sure the name does not spell out something unintended when run together as a website addy.

The massage parlor that I am going to this morning has a unique name and describes what it is very good. It is called
"A Kneaded Touch". I love the name, it is short and easy to remember and puts in mind that it is a a needed thing.

Something else to consider:
Hot stones massage is popular right now, but in a year or two it will be something else. Don't tie your name too closely to a fad! For web searches, it's easy to tag phrases onto your site so that it comes up. This year it can be "hot rocks massage" and next year it can be "basil tea soak" or whatever. Make the name of the spa something that makes people feel good about themselves.

Is there something about the location that would make a good name? Green Falls Day Spa? Fern Path Massage? Wild Bloom Experience?

And it was stressed in my marketing classes not to name a business something that will limit expansion. We've all seen how Boston Chicken had to name change to Boston Market and how International House of Pancakes became IHOP when they diversified their menu.

Using place names can be tricky. Never use a street name as should the business should move if becomes confusing. This happened to my friend's hair salon. He lost his lease. "Hair on Oakland" was moved to 124th Street in another city.
