These may be repeats. The new series starts in January, according to our local PBS station in Chicagoland.

We're recording the last "Tango" tonight for viewing later in the week.

I bought Ediths Darling & Violets Pride about 6 weeks ago, So far VP is a blooming machine with great fragrance. ED not as quick to repeat, only slightly fragrant. Both are in big pots and no diseases so far. Other roses in our yard are suffering black spot and mildew because of the drizzle. Bought Pretty Lady 2 days ago so not much to report except healthy looks.

Downton Abbey Rose: Anna's Promise

Hi Manasi, I agree Anna's Promise is not a "round" bush. My original 6 posted above shot up straight, pretty much like a grandiflora. They have nice foliage though. This year I got 4 Easy Does it. They do look like Anna's Promise but with 3 differences. First, leaves on Anna's are a darker green. Second is that Easy Does it does not grow like a grandiflora but grow more round, more like a floribunda. Third, my Easy Does it are still quite short now and no more than 2 feet tall at this point (planted in early February this year), but Anna's Promise shot up to > 5 feet within the first year and this year it is certainly going to be even taller. I love orange roses!

Lady Grantham came from a wealthy American family who would have the same sort of arrangement of staff and responsibilities borrowed from the British. She had been married for over twenty years to Lord Grantham and had plenty of time to learn the British nuances and in the case of this particular household had the services of a particularly nice Housekeeper. Now some Ladies left everything to their housekeeper which was entirely possible here but in this case they go to the Earl. He would be the last person on earth they would turn to unless it had something to do with the cellars, stables or hunting or some usual male area of expertise. This Earl doesn't even seem to have a domestic turn. Occasionally there were men who refused to allow their wives to manage the house but women deeply resented it and said so. I think they did it in this series because how else do you include the Earl when he didn't seem to take much of an interest in horses and hunting. But it is all wrong.

I read that in early December there will be a Downton Abbey special giving a recap of the first 3 seasons, discussions about the various characters and a preview of season 4

Here is a link that might be useful: Watch for it!!

The are re-showing the second season. After which they will re-show the third season, before jumping into the fourth season. Last night when I flipped to that channel the first three characters that I saw were all ones that have passed away by the end of the third season.

Maxmom, glad to hear it. I was hoping last night's episode wasn't the last, but then there was no indication there would be more. I was a little bored with all the drama last week, but this week's wrap-up was good. I hope there will finally be a wedding. :) I find all the actors to be really quite good.

I'm happy to see there are more "Last tango in Halifax" fans here. I urge anyone to watch the series if they go to reruns. The quality is right up there with Downton Abbey although the story line is mainly about two 70 something year old people who met and fell in love. Sooo good.

I already saw the first episode of the new season of DA. Someone on a fan page on FB linked to it. It has already aired in Great Britain. I kind of feel like I cheated for watching it! I resisted watching the rest of the episodes because it is more fun to watch along with everyone else here in the states.

All I can say is that it is as fascinating as always and includes a shocker.

I have to watch Last Tango. My friends love it.

For those who watched Last Tango and Paradise. . . did you know that the actress who plays Caroline in Tango and Miss Audrey in Paradise are the same? She's Sarah Lancashire, and she's leaving Paradise to be able to continue to play Caroline. I didn't notice how familiar she looked in Paradise until last night.

I had noticed that Caroline is in Paradise. One of the shop girls in in Larkrise to Candleford. I love all the UK shows. Just have trouble understanding some of the accents. Love Tango.

Gabriell, That's why I switch on the closed captioning for the British shows. So much easier than straining to hear some lines due to their accents.
