Comments (11)I wondered why no one was discussing this show over here!! :) I LOVE it! So much that I think I may need to be medicated to be able to tolerate the looooooong wait to next season. I love how artful language was in those days. I love everything about this show. Still mourning the loss of Sybil. Can't believe the cliffhanger for next season, though, Pam, I knew, too, when he was driving that car....so what about what the naysayers say about his storyline...his gorgeous eyes and that smoooooth voice. One of my faves. :( I love the meals, too! The kitchen fascinates me. My china is the one they use when the ladies are served breakfast in bed! It used to be the breakfast china in the dining room, too, but a different china seems to be used this season. I'm not one of those gals that can quote movie lines like the guys can...but when it comes to THIS show, there are so many brilliant lines...I can fire off quite a few! (Tired of James, though...and Alfred)...See MoreDownton Abbey Fans - tonight at 9pm
Comments (16)I drove 1.5 hours to see it. It was great. They have 40 costumes, both upstairs and downstairs, men and women. There are some video screens with scenes playing. They tie-in how Winterthur was an American DA and display some of their items. It's not a large exhibit but I thought it was very well done. ETA: Being the only person in the world without a GPS, I followed the directions from Mapquest. They directed me to turn left across a busy 2-lane road, not at a light, onto an unmarked country road. I missed the turn. When I backtracked to correct, I stopped at the Post Office to confirm directions. I asked is this small unmarked road behind me route 100? Yes. From there it was another small country lane (something with a T) to connect me to Route 52, the road with the museum. The course correction made me late for my timed admission to see the house decorated for Xmas. I didn't really care about that, I was there for DA. Anyhoo, when I arrived later than my scheduled time I was told I could not tour the house, they were sold out. Really? They had no way to accommodate one visitor? Not a carload, not a bus load but one person, anytime during that day? Okay, I'll just see the DA and other exhibits. So my suggestion is get better directions and don't arrive late of you want to see the Xmas decorations. I would have preferred to take Route 1 directly to Route 52, instead of the perhaps more direct but poorly marked scenic tour. Comments (29)And what happened to those babies? Last week the nanny got fired and then then babies just disappeared? It's starting to feel like an English soap opera for me now as opposed to the story of the family with some plot development. Too many characters flipping in/out each week. But that's just my take. There's lots to love about the show. I just hope they turn it around a bit and slow it back down to it's original flavor. Love the worktable in the kitchen and as someone else noted, the introduction of various electrical appliances. Mrs Patmore is hilarious. I think this season is getting on towards end of the '20's judging by the costumes, speak-easys, and the ominous pull of Germany for Edith's boyfriend to get his divorce. My prediction is that he'll get stuck there when Hitler rises...or something to that effect....See MoreDownton Abbey Rose: Anna's Promise
Comments (15)Hi Manasi, I agree Anna's Promise is not a "round" bush. My original 6 posted above shot up straight, pretty much like a grandiflora. They have nice foliage though. This year I got 4 Easy Does it. They do look like Anna's Promise but with 3 differences. First, leaves on Anna's are a darker green. Second is that Easy Does it does not grow like a grandiflora but grow more round, more like a floribunda. Third, my Easy Does it are still quite short now and no more than 2 feet tall at this point (planted in early February this year), but Anna's Promise shot up to > 5 feet within the first year and this year it is certainly going to be even taller. I love orange roses!...See Morenippstress - zone 5 Nebraska
