Everyone in my area must have chili on their mind and went to Hamburger Heaven, today. There were 5 people in line in front of me and everyone ordered their chili and grilled cheese special.

I had to be different and had the hot dog.

Today was their first day of the season to serve chili.

We had Little Caesar's Pizza. I put the rest of my uneaten beef stew in the freezer last night. I don't think I'm going to make anything for them to eat over the next few days. I'm tired of throwing food out. Good thing the stew freezes ok. They can find something on their own.

My sister gave me a bag of those long, sweet peppers. Couldn't stuff them, so just cut them in half length wise. Then I layered them with my stuffed pepper mixture. I had a half a whole wheat bagel also.

Had soup for lunch. Right now I have the oven pre-heating in order to bake a pizza. This is only the second time I've ever tried a frozen pizza from the grocery store, found it at Save-a-Lot and couldn't resist the photo of the 4-cheese pizza on the cover of the box! It's a "Ferratto's". Never heard of them, hope it tastes decent enough.

Kathleen, what can you say about teenagers and food!?! I know how you feel. I just hate throwing food away unless the recipe turned out really icky. They were probably really happy with pizza.

Shirley, I bet that was really warm and filling. Just right for this weather. I haven't seen long sweet peppers. Did you just sort of layer it?

Patti your soup sounds good. I've never made a vegetable soup.....can you give me an idea how you did it?

We had just plain old spaghetti and homemade rolls.

Patti: I don't know what the long peppers are called. They looked sort of like a banana pepper, only green. Yes, I layered it. Put in about 4 peppers, per layer(cut in half lengthwise), 4 layers of peppers, three of 'mixture'. Poured my liquid over all. I made them in my pressure cooker.

Grilled porterhouse steaks and baked potatoes, I am not a big steak eater so I will just take a cut off of his and eat my tater.

Sliced turkey breast, baked sweet potato, roasted tomatoes and acorn squash! Love all the color - no green today but plenty of orange & red.

Left-over chop, potato patties,salad.......not too exciting, but good anyway.

Jasdip, it's not really a recipe but I try to make it like my mother did. She used beef short ribs, but they're pretty pricey here so I use a bone-in chuck roast. I cook the roast in water on the stove top with some salt and cook until the meat is cooked through. I had an almost 4 lb. roast so it took about an hour. Removed it from the broth to cool and in the meantime, added chopped celery, carrots, potato and onion to the broth. To that, I added about 1 Tbsp. chili powder and about 2 c. V-8 juice. When the meat was cool, I diced it into small pieces and then cooked the whole thing until the veggies were cooked. Then I add some chopped cabbage (except today, when I forgot). :-(

Somehow it always tastes like my mother's. And that makes it comfort food.

Kat, how did you like the meatballs? I've had the cocktail version and like them--think everybody does, pretty much.

Ravencajun, I don't eat much steak either. I really like it, but I think it fills me up too fast or something??

Oh, hostapasta, that sounds so good. I could eat turkey every day if it was roasted. Guess I'll wait for T-giving, though. It sounds like a pretty plate!

Phyllis, mom used to make potato cakes from leftover mashed potatoes. I've tried making them, but they seem to fall apart on me. Do you know what I'm doing wrong? I just take the potatoes, add a beaten egg and some green onion, form into patties and dredge in flour and then fry. Maybe my oil isn't hot enough? I'd sure like to know how you do yours. I'd like to have some with ketchup--woohoo!!

Schoolhouse, how was your pizza? Sometimes I get a pleasant surprise when a brand I don't know turns out to be better than the well-known ones. We have a Save-A-Lot right down the street.

We're running a little late tonight. Roast chicken, Italian green beans, Buffalo Chicken Rice (from a mix)and fruit salad. It's still too hot here for soups and stews. I am looking forward to cooler weather and more crock pot stews, etc.

It is strange I used to love steak then for some reason it started just turning me off even smelling them cooking or grilling. So if I try to eat it I have to do just small amounts now. Not sure why that suddenly happened but it makes it cheaper now only have to buy one steak LOL
In fact most times I will fix him a steak and I just eat something else or just the sides.

Meatloaf and faux mashed potatoes with a side salad. For dessert I made sugarfree, low carb chocolate chip cheesecake.

patti, pizza wasn't great. Not much taste despite being labeled as "4-Cheese Pizza". The bottom started to brown too much so I had to take it out of the oven, after 35 min. instead of the 20-25min. recommended on the box, and the dough still wasn't all the way done. Really thin too. But as I said, I'm not used to frozen store pizza. Wouldn't buy this brand again anyhow, esp. not the cheese variety.

schoolhouse...if you're going to try a frozen pizza, try DiGiorno's.....Not sure of the spelling but you'll recognize it when you see it. I think as far as frozen pizza's go, it's pretty good.
