I think it depends a bit on your location and the prevailing economic level there. One suggestion might be to see what the grocery store or a local bakery charges for their in-house baked goods and use that as a basis.

Around here, we get 2 medium-size cookies or one brownie for 50 cents.

or a buck a decorated cupcake...and everyone is on a cupcake kick...

keep it simple (no nut or peanuts) though...and list all ingredients...i'd do a simple white cake and do the icing in the team colors...

Here at cupcake shop they charge $3 for a decorated or any kind of cupcake.

We just had a bake sale and we charged 50c for 2 muffins, or 2 cupcakes, 5.00 homemade Angel Food cake, 1.00 for 6 cookies etc. If you have a school with a PTA ask them. You have to price reasonably or else you won't sell. Remember these are all donated free so it is all profit. Don't forget to get change ahead of time I had 50 in ones and some 10 & 5. I had a roll of quarters. Price everything even. If someone hands you a large bill, 50 or 100, just ask for something smaller. Even at the beginning people will give you 20's and if the sale is small, do not be afraid to ask for smaller bills. Keep it in a cash box, and have someone stay with the money all the time, away from the public, but not where you have to turn your back. Seperate table etc.Make sure you do have a helper or more.Do not try to sell, make change and watch the items. All items should be wrapped or in plastic bags. Have a supply of grocery bags or small boxes to put the items in. Price everything, Sell what is posted, no changing unless it is right at the end with just a few items less. Brownies sell for 6 for about 2.00. No free samples.

Since it's October -- you might add popcorn balls to your mix... chocolate coated pretzels -- Stuff in kinda small sizes... people generally are looking for 1-2 person servings.. Hope it goes well and everyone has fun!

When our daycare does a bake sale we package everything individually and price it all $1 or under. We only have a few hours to sell things (we have the bake sale along side a lunchtime sub sale). It's all profit.

Packaging makes a difference but you really can't control how the individuals who donate package their items. Hope for the best!

I don't agree with the no nuts or peanuts though. My son has a serious peanut allery and I would never let him eat anything from a bake sale whether it had peanuts or not. People love peanut butter and it's a big money maker. We are a peanut and nut-free center but since our sale is outside of the center we sell peanut items and buckeyes were a huge seller at our last bake sale. They weren't even packaged all the prettily and some were 'naked' (no chocolate just balls of peanut butter) but people snapped those up.

I like the idea of selling everything in $1 increments. I think $1 for a cupcake or 2-3 cookies, etc.

I've done a lot of bake sales and I've done gorgeous, elaborate cupcakes that just sit there. The most popular sellers by far are rice krispy treats, especially with M&M's mixed in. :)

I also agree with $1 increments.

We do a bake sale at church each month. Items are donated so the money goes to the church. I find it's easier to have lots of $1 bagged items: 2-3 cookies, large brownie, lemon bar, cupcake. Whole cakes don't sell quite as well. But maybe one or two might go. Rice Krispy treats are a BIG favorite here! Keep it the dollar amounts simple, either $1 or 50 cents. You want it to be easy to calculate in your head.
